Flexible, improves operational efficiency, and reduces the time taken to complete processes
The solution’s turnaround time for development is better compared to other tools. The solution enables fast development. The traceability of the processor is good. There is much more governance and regulations on the processers. The tool reduces the time of the processes by 30% to 40%. The solution’s low-code aspect has greatly impacted the development and deployment speed. One of the major reasons we are using the product is that we can reuse the modules. The developers can reuse all the modules. It enables us to make subsequent developments in less time. The prebuilt modules can be deployed within two to three weeks. The tool is very flexible. Compared to other platforms, the Appian product team was agile in quickly customizing things for us.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Appian is a stable product and works very well."
"The low code functionality and being able to get applications faster to customers or to the market are valuable."
"The most valuable features are the low coding and low code data."
"The valuable features include process automation, Appian Portal, and Appian RPA."
"The most valuable features of Appian are the VPN engine, it is fast, lightweight, and easy to set up business rules. Business teams can do it by themselves. That is a very good feature."
"Another advantage of this tool is its reports and records. You can maintain dashboards, layouts. If you with a Java solution, it takes six months time. If you use this tool, you can finish in one or one and a half months' time."
"The product's most valuable feature is the low code aspect of development. We can develop an end-to-end VPN solution using a single platform."
"In terms of interface, it's very good. In terms of infrastructure, it's amazing and already using multiple tools behind the scenes. It's a low-code platform, so it's very easy to implement."
"Being able to deploy in shorter cuts."
"It's easy to set up."
"The initial setup was simple. One can know how exactly the process performs just by clicking a few buttons."
"I like the tool's ability to visualize the entire process flow, how the process flow flows, and what deviations happen from the process flow. It also helps to figure out the process bottlenecks."
"One of the most valuable things about process intelligence is that it allows you to mine data over a long period of time, such as one or two years. This gives us a deep understanding of how your processes actually work."
"The most valuable feature is the integration model."
"The product is relatively user friendly, it does what you need it to do."
"The product's best feature is the connection and integration between all of the capabilities."

Cons

"The UI of Appian is more internal. Recently, there has been an addition of an external user portal for the customer-facing stuff. It's still coming out."
"It is difficult to set up the on-premise version."
"The performance is pretty good, but the distortions need to be optimized in order for it to work well."
"A point of improvement would be the SAIL forms. The built-in tool used to generate forms does not have debugging support (to view local variables as they change on live preview, and step-by-step valuation) which is a big drawback for form development. Moreover, the script language used to build SAIL forms does not support inheritance or lambda expressions (functions as arguments of other functions), which makes the code base more verbose."
"While Appian is generally flexible, it's rigid in some ways. It takes longer to do something that isn't available out of the box."
"What could be improved is more on the front end perspective, like the user interface and the mobile application aspect."
"Offline capabilities and responsive capabilities could be better. The mobility features of Appian platform are still evolving."
"The solution could improve robotic process automation."
"It could be more scalable."
"With the new release, I have some problems. Actually with Signavio, many of the processes are not viewable for unclear reasons. The product itself is reachable most of the time, but some processes are not there. Some pages do not loading at times."
"The challenge for a solution that utilizes modeling notations, is that the look and feel of the models (e.g. in BPMN) is pre-defined."
"When it comes to Signavio, as I've worked on Celonis, I've observed two things in Celonis and Signavio. In Celonis, using the process mining tool, we can implement automation skills. So we can take actions to improve the process as well. That is one thing."
"The UI could be improved."
"SAP Signavio Process Intelligence slows down when you feed a lot of data. It needs to improve its processing ability. The tool should also incorporate AI features that can automate things. Many of the competitors have this feature."
"SAP has to figure out a better way to price it. Their licensing structure isn't ideal as it's based on data; therefore, it's hard to estimate client costs."
"There could be more standard interfaces for importing data from the various systems in the process landscape."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing of Appian is less expensive when compared to other BPMs in the market."
"The pricing can be a little confusing to customers."
"It is expensive, but powerful. I would recommend comparing against cheaper licensing products and open source."
"If you're doing an enterprise-wide digital transformation, Appian is worthwhile, but not for just one or two use cases because the license costs are higher."
"The license is a bit expensive and the pricing model is sometimes confusing for new users or business users. It is difficult for them to know what volume of usage they will have to be able to purchase the best-suited license at the beginning."
"BPM done right is a huge value proposition for almost any company, and with Appian's low code rapid development model, the ROI can be huge, while the break-even point should be accelerated tremendously."
"The cost is a bit higher than other low-code competitors, OutSystems and Mendix. The price needs to be more competitive."
"The solution offers a monthly subscription model. That's what we use. I recall it being about $90 a month. They do have different tiers."
"It is a fairly expensive solution."
"The costs of the solution require transparency since sometimes it refers to the number of users and sometimes the amount of volume that is used"
"The pricing is expensive."
"The solution is expensive, and I rate it an eight out of ten."
"I would not say the product was terribly expensive but I would not say it was cheap either."
