Simplifies and secures secret management within the AWS ecosystem, though it could enhance integration capabilities with external platforms
AWS Secrets Manager has streamlined our processes for managing secrets and their lifecycle. We typically handle everything through automation, following a predefined approach. When we undertake our developments, we seamlessly integrate the process into our workflows. Essentially, our secrets require minimal intervention; they are automatically managed by the system itself. This ensures smooth operations without the need for manual intervention. We integrate this tool with various AWS services, utilizing AWS Secrets Manager specifically for AWS resources. Any application, service, or deployment within AWS leverages Secrets Manager whenever it requires access to it.

Enhancing security and efficiency through robust secret management
With the merging of Thycotic and Centrify into Delinea, it has combined strengths of both products into a single package. Thycotic was strong in certain areas and Centrify in others, and now Delinea integrates these features. I have experience with solutions like CyberArk, BeyondTrust, and Delinea. CyberArk, Delinea, and BeyondTrust are pushing onto cloud-based solutions.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is very scalable."
"The API is fine and works well."
"The most valuable feature is security."
"All our workloads are running on AWS, so integration with our workload is much easier on AWS Secrets Manager than going with another solution such as Thycotic."
"It's highly scalable, so I'd rate it a ten out of ten."
"Integrating with other services was straightforward, especially within the AWS environment."
"The most valuable feature is the management of credentials."
"The product is easy to use and is inexpensive."
"The most valuable feature is the author's discovery of assets."
"Delinea has very good support, rating them an eight or nine out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of Delinea Privileged Access Service is we can use the server as a jump host. It is simple to manage the accounts on the system."
"The privileged account management feature is what I like most."
"Delinea has very good support."
"The vault and auditing capabilities are the most valuable feature because they include multiple reports that allow us to create our own reports."
"The reporting is excellent."
"The solution is flexible."

Cons

"There is a need for better environmental implementation, such as having a security fund as a solution."
"The sidecar feature has room for improvement."
"The price of the solution could improve."
"The solution's initial setup process is complicated."
"There is room for improvement in the pricing model."
"If you don't have enterprise support, then you will not be able to get through to them to get the help. It is not only applicable to AWS Secrets Manager. It is also applicable to any service on AWS."
"AWS Secrets Manager could support hybrid infrastructure."
"An area for improvement in AWS Secrets Manager could be expanding integration options beyond AWS services."
"Enhancing the solution by incorporating additional features to make it comprehensive would be beneficial. It would be more convenient to have a complete package solution that consolidates all the features in one place, making it easier to manage. Currently, I am required to access two separate servers for reports, which could be avoided if all the necessary features were available in a single location. This would be highly advantageous for managing everything effectively."
"The integration with sync could be improved."
"I would like for there to be a suitable solution to deploy a low-spec version for desktop password management to all our staff."
"I would have been really happy if Delinea were evolving or innovating like CyberArk. Delinea needs to innovate more to match the changing needs of the market."
"There needs to be a notification when a password is near expiration."
"The initial setup is a bit complex."
"With Delinea Privileged Access Service, when installing the identity connectors to configure with AD, the configuration was not happening properly."
"It is difficult to integrate the product with other IT systems."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive."
"We've observed that AWS Secrets Manager pricing is based on a per-secret-per-month model. As a result, we prefer to divide our secrets into individual pieces to increase security and grant specific access permissions to certain secrets, systems, or individuals. However, this approach results in higher costs. Therefore, we have been exploring ways to combine our secrets into groups to reduce expenses and simplify management. Nonetheless, we acknowledge that this issue may not be related to the secret manager's functionality."
"I don't believe there is a license cost for the solution."
"The cost is somewhat high."
"We purchase a monthly license for the product."
"It is sad that people with a limited budget won't be able to afford it."
"The pricing is moderate."
"The price of Delinea Privileged Access Service is average compared to its competitors."
"The price model is based on the number of devices and opposed to the number of users, and it is not very flexible."
"The product comes at a very good price and it's quite competitive, although you need to buy add-ons for certain things."
"The price is cheap if I compare Delinea Privileged Access Service with other products."
"The solution is priced too high, so I rate its pricing a nine out of ten."
"In addition to the license fees, we have to pay for the server and admin fees."
