Facilitates efficient branching and integration with flexible workflow management
Bitbucket Server excels as a versioning system, effectively managing branching and code integration. It provides flexibility, allowing teams to customize workflows according to their specific needs. We maintain a master branch for production and separate branches for different features, which makes it easier to manage code changes. Additionally, its integration with Jenkins pipelines for automating builds and performing various checks enhances its utility.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is easy to write code and store it in the central repository."
"The tool's automation helped because we onboarded a lot of projects and teams into Bitbucket. The product's automation helped us complete activities in two days which previously used to take around two weeks to complete. We have completely automated processes that were earlier manual. It has good integration with Jira and Jenkins."
"You can use Bitbucket to whitelist IP addresses during deployment."
"Bitbucket is significantly cheaper compared to GitHub and it provides on-premises hosting."
"Bitbucket is very secure and easy to handle compared to GitLab."
"The setup was okay, and it was well-integrated."
"We use Bitbucket for Jira, Confluence, and Jenkins and we have an automation pipeline. Whenever the coaching is done in Bitbucket we run an automation pipeline from the build, create installations, and tests all in one pipeline. It is done automatically."
"Bitbucket is feasible and friendly compared to Visual Studio DevOps on the Microsoft platform."
"It is an amazingly stable solution."
"The tool makes pushing codes and setting up CI/CD pipelines easy."
"Bitbucket Server easily integrates with Jira because they are both Atlassian products."
"It has consistently performed well without major issues, providing a reliable code management and collaboration environment."
"I believe it's user-friendly for our developers, and it's effective in terms of traceability for tracking our actions."
"The most valuable feature is that it has its own pipelines."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is server management."
"Its standout features are the seamless integration with various intelligent tools and its user-friendly nature."

Cons

"Integration with Copilot could be beneficial."
"Bitbucket's stability isn't flawless. It has crashed on me occasionally, but I haven't yet lost anything after a crash."
"The scalability for the cloud version can be improved."
"Bitbucket could improve its security. For example, the user access security could improve."
"In Bitbucket, manual processes are needed to handle changes between repositories."
"The product could benefit from enhancements in scaling capabilities for continuous deployment processes and better integration with other cloud platforms beyond AWS."
"One of the areas the solution could improve on is when there is a merging conflict it is quite confusing. When I am having a merging conflict I get stuck on the page, then I need to search how to handle the particular problem. For example, finding what the commands are which can be used."
"Bitbucket could improve search and indexing capabilities. There is only basic searching available. There is only the ability to index the main branch but not the subbranches. The search capabilities are dodgy."
"There might be further integration ideas for continuous deployment."
"The user experience is tedious and long-winded. It could also be smoother from an admin's perspective."
"Instead of providing only raw features and plugins, Atlassian should provide a ready-to-use integration of both choices to incorporate "trunk-based" development."
"The UI could be enhanced."
"The solution's user interface could be improved because it's not very user-friendly or intuitive."
"The improvements in the product could be made to expand third-party integrations and enhance support for open-source projects."
"Bitbucket Server has limited user support for its free version. It is expensive."
"If I want to mail someone a master branch, then sometimes it shows some conflict with other codes in the master branch."
