We performed a comparison between Check Point Harmony Endpoint and Trend Micro Smart Protection based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Endpoint Protection Platform (EPP) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."Fortinet has helped free up around 20 percent of our staff's time to help us out."
"The ease of deployment and configuration is valuable. It's very easy compared to other vendors like Sophos. Sophos' configuration is complex. Fortinet is a lot easier to understand. You don't need a lot of admin knowledge to do the configuration."
"I like FortiClient EMS. FortiEDR has a lot of great features like lockdown mode, remote wipes, and encryption. I can set malware outbreak policies and controls for detecting abnormalities. You can also simulate phishing attacks."
"Having all monitoring, response, tracking, and mitigation tools in one dashboard provides our analysts and SOC team with a comprehensive view at a glance."
"The product's initial setup phase is very easy."
"Fortinet FortiEDR's firewalling, rule creation, monitoring, and inspection profiles are great."
"Fortinet FortiEDR made our clients feel secure and more at ease, knowing that they had an EDR solution that would close the gap in their security posture."
"I get alerts when scripts are detected in the environment."
"The most valuable feature of Check Point Harmony Endpoint is it can be used for all kinds of endpoints, including mobile phones."
"The dashboard is user-friendly and easy to understand."
"The SandBlast agent is the most valuable feature for Check Point Endpoint Security. We've found that the Check Point SandBlast agent is mature."
"The product improved the overall security of our organization with the features like sandboxing and phishing prevention."
"The main advantage of the solution is the ability to implement complete security policies for the terminals in order to address how apps are installed on corporate devices."
"Harmony's endpoint sandboxing is really good."
"We had a ransomware attack and the SandBlast agent automatically picked up the ransomware."
"SandBlast Agent is always working in the background collecting sensitive data, forensics, and notifying users whenever there is a chance of a brute-force attack into our systems. Otherwise, it has been protecting our data at various geographies along with the endpoints that we set up on the cloud. They have been able to filter out or thwart any attacks from the very word, "Go," and make our work very safe and smooth."
"One of the most valuable features of Trend Micro Smart Protection is the integration with other solutions."
"What I like the most is the customer pricing because it's a great value."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection has good features like malware analysis, C-to-C connection and detection, workbench, auto security play with features, and lots of DDI features."
"It is their most comprehensive endpoint protection solution. It includes DLP and Office 365. It also includes device control and the rest of the little bells and whistles that the traditional AV vendors have."
"The most useful feature is endpoint security."
"The most valuable features of the solution are ransomware protection, device control, and DLP."
"The most valuable aspect of the solution is that it also protects our smartphones. It's one of the reasons we use Trend Micro specifically."
"The next-generation antivirus features are excellent."
"They can include the automation for the realtime updates. We have a network infrastructure with remote sites. Whenever they send updates, they are not automated. We have to go into the console and push those updates. I wish it was more automated. The update file is currently around 31 MB. It could be smaller."
"We'd like to see more one-to-one product presentations for the distribution channels."
"I would like the solution to extend beyond endpoint protection and include other attack surfaces such as other network components."
"FortiEDR could add a separate scanning dashboard. In incident management, we prefer to remove the endpoint system from the environment and scan the system. We typically use Symantec for that, but if we want to use FortiEDR for that, then we need a scanning tab to clarify things."
"Detections could be improved."
"The EDR console should have more extensive reporting. You shouldn't need to purchase FortiAnalyzer. It should be included in the EDR part. The security adviser cloud platform could be improved with more options for exclusive or intensive rules for devices."
"The support needs improvement."
"The solution should address emerging threats like SQL injection."
"If the IT department is used to "cloning" endpoints (making images) you are going to have a hard time trying to install the product and you are going to end up reading a lot of Check Point documents."
"As I understand there will be a URL filtering feature included with the browser agent in the future. This will allow URL filtering without the need for a Gateway Device. This is something I am looking forward to and would be a great addition to list of features."
"They could be focused on the analysis of USB devices."
"Sometimes, with a lot of clients (1,000) the UI is a bit sluggish."
"This is one of the most innovative solutions due to the fact that it includes many real-time content filtering features, management, and assurance of the transactions of what went in or out of our peripherals. That said, it is important to integrate other solutions to continue innovating in the market."
"The Infinity Portal login is "iffy" at times."
"The next release should consider a strong threat detection mechanism that can categorize various levels of attacks for faster analysis."
"The patch management and upgrades are not timely."
"The solution's device control options are not too beneficial."
"I want the tool to provide the solutions integrated within it to have regular updates. Currently, the solutions integrated with Smart Protection get updates from the cloud. I want to minimize the download from the cloud."
"Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration."
"The solution could be more stable and secure."
"It could be faster in responding to new threats like ransomware."
"The solution should improve its mobile management solution."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve the false positive with some integrations with other solutions and automated reporting. The reports should allow the user to set up some customer trigger alerts instead of the user having to look at the report manually. Additionally, the responses from sender detection and response feature could improve."
"Some functionalities within the DLP can be improved."
