Helps us block ports, like TCP and UDP, and we don't need to use Active Directory GPOs to block anything
One suggestion I have for both regular and mobile would be to collect all the information about installed software, such as versions, and give that information to the manager to help with software management. That would be a huge advantage for everyone who administers these tools. For example, EDR gives me some applications with a version linked to a CVE or a MITRE attack. That's really interesting, But we don't know about other software that is installed and that means we need to install and use other software on the workstation to collect that information. If Symantec could do that, it would help managers improve their security, as they would know all the software installed on each device. Because Symantec is already installed on a workstation, it would not be difficult for the agent to collect information about the software installed. It wouldn't need to do anything other than collect and share the information. That would be a huge advantage for the administrator. The more information we have about a device, the more secure we can make it. For example, there are types of software that can open a port that an attacker can use. If we know that such software is installed, we could just act before something happens. If Symantec could collect that software information, it would be amazing.

Offers strong, all-around cybersecurity but is expensive
Installing Trend Micro Smart Protection is typically easy, but it can be tricky if you have another antivirus that must be removed first. A cloud solution is a better option as it simplifies the process by only requiring an endpoint connection to the console, ensuring safety and ease of deployment. Deploying Trend Micro Smart Protection usually takes just a few minutes. It involves preparing an SQL table, checking the environment for optimal performance, and ensuring no conflicting antivirus solutions exist. Once that is done, deploying it is as simple as running a script. We have a team of eight engineers who maintain the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a stable product."
"With Symantec, I always know this tool will be reliable and with the latest protection."
"The product has been quite stable."
"The solution, especially in older versions, is quite stable."
"It's customizable, we're able to tune it to work with our products."
"The antivirus and antimalware features are good."
"The IPS function (with no firewall needed to be installed in the SEP client) is quite good."
"It just works. We have a console, and I can see it at a glance. I don't have any problems with it at all."
"What I like the most is the customer pricing because it's a great value."
"The most valuable features are the behavior monitoring, behavior analysis, and web reputation service."
"The stability is good and I like the level of performance I can get."
"We haven't had any compatibility issues. It's quite stable and it's a good tool in preventing actual viruses or malware."
"The tool offers centralized security management. The tool's deployment is flexible."
"What I like about Trend Micro Smart Protection is that it detects unknown threats that are not visible on other platforms. It catches low-hanging threats, such as certain binary downloads, that aren't flagged by other tools."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is its simplicity."
"The tool will query the information from the cloud to identify suspicious or malicious files that can be a threat. It will provide you with real-time updates on the latest and ongoing attacks and malware information."

Cons

"The Symantec Endpoint Manager is very difficult to use and extremely old."
"Difficult to set up on older systems."
"Symantec isn't good in terms of updating customers about updates. You'd normally have to search it out. Sometimes, the update process for the administration and management console can be a bit intimidating, and it can be quite inconvenient to get the updates. That's because when you have to do the update, you have to update the management console, and then you need to update the clients. Their application that's installed on desktops and servers needs to go hand in hand with the management console. Sometimes, it's a bit unwieldy to see that process through."
"We are not satisfied with this solution. It needs a lot of improvements. It doesn't detect the most recent malware and unknown threats. With most of the users working from home these days, there is also a need for some extra security layer. That's why we are thinking of going for a better solution that will take care of all of our endpoints and work from home situation. Symantec also has to work on EDI technology. Vendors like Palo Alto and Cisco are coming with their own intelligence and cloud infrastructure in which unknown threats are regularly watched and monitored, and they are reported to the admin."
"The support can be wanting. Sometimes the time to resolution is longer than I would expect."
"After selling this product, what we have observed is that the system gets slower, which is a major issue."
"The solution has become quite complicated since Broadcom acquired Symantec, and we no longer sell it or try not to sell it."
"They lack the visibility you get in a heuristical, artificial, AI type of product, like a next-gen antivirus."
"We found an issue on the server-side. Sometimes, it slows down the servers if you install it on the SQL."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve the false positive with some integrations with other solutions and automated reporting. The reports should allow the user to set up some customer trigger alerts instead of the user having to look at the report manually. Additionally, the responses from sender detection and response feature could improve."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection could improve automatic scanning because sometimes it pops up when I am doing my work. It would be helpful to have a feature to have it only automatically scan when the system is on standby mode. I would be able to be more efficient with my work. Additionally, security could improve."
"I'm not sure about the cloud migration part, in terms of whether it is seamless or not."
"Documentation-wise, they are a disaster. If you want to know something about Trend Micro, you will not find anything useful from Trend Micro themselves. You have to basically dig some blog, or you need to seek some expert to help you understand what they are offering. I have never seen such a good product with such disastrous documentation. Feature-wise, almost all vendors are providing the same features, but it is all about the integration. For example, Trend Micro is promoting their endpoint protection suite, but they never mention about the integration that they are offering with their EDR solution. They are treating each product as a separate island, and you don't know much about their integration. It would be good if they can focus on integration."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection needs to improve its compliance features to cover more domains, such as BCIDSS rules. Enhancements in this area would enable quicker and more comprehensive compliance reporting."
"The dashboard could be easier to manage. We've experienced compatibility issues with Windows endpoint protection."
"Sometimes, the tool bases its actions on behaviour, and we lack a policy learning mechanism. If Trend Micro Smart Protection introduced an AI model, its protection capabilities would be enhanced. I used a different browser once, which may have prevented protection. Another time, our own ISP was added to the blacklist, and it took the support team two business days to resolve it."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is as per the environment. If all the features are there, there will be a cost for them. There were no additional costs for me. Support and other things were included in the pricing."
"I thought the pricing was reasonable."
"Symantec Endpoint Security's pricing is okay. It is cheaper compared to other products."
"The price of the product is competitive if compared to its competitors in the market."
"It's not cheap."
"It is cheap. It is especially cheaper than Malwarebytes, which is three times higher than this. It is also cheaper than Cisco. Its price is almost similar to Bitdefender, Gravity, and CloudZone."
"Each annual client license is around 1200 or 1600 INR."
"Pricing and licensing are important to us when choosing a product."
"In terms of pricing, in comparison to products like Kaspersky, Trend Micro's price might appear higher. However, this elevated cost can be rationalized due to the extensive features and detection engines that Trend Micro provides. The price may be a challenge for countries with economic conditions like Sri Lanka. If there was reasonable pricing for Sri Lanka, it would be a plus point."
"The cost seems competitive."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly."
"The solution is a little expensive. However, they can reduce the price for competition. There are different licensing models."
"The solution is a little bit expensive in comparison to other traditional tools."
"Trend Micro Smart Protection is more costly than competitor solutions"
"The product pricing for PCs is reasonable, but server security can be expensive."
"Our organization has paid licensing for three years, which averaged about $4.00 USD per user. We've been satisfied with the licensing. It's quite reasonable."
