Has improved credential security with remote password change and role-based access
I have not faced any significant issues with Delinea Secret Server during this period of time, but we had a problem with a web password filler, which is a template used for accessing a web URL using Secret Server, where we faced some session management issues since session management is not applicable for the web password filler. This should be the improvement that we require from Delinea Secret Server. The session management is not applicable in this case; we can manage the session and have session management inside the remote systems within the organization. However, when it comes to web-related access, we can access directly through Delinea Secret Server. We can access any URL through Secret Server, but the problem is that the session cannot be managed on the web URL due to it having multiple systems. I do not have any other recommendations regarding the improvement of Delinea Secret Server at this time.

Efficiently keeps track and monitors
When I look at something like a server or a user who has an unsuccessful login, all they're giving me is what is from the domain controllers. When I click on the analytics portion that says give me information, it doesn't tell me what application is errored out. It doesn't tell me; it just tells me what is the same information from the domain controller. I'd like a little bit more robust information on actually giving me some useful information instead of some links that send me out to the Internet that says research here, and then I have to do additional research. It's kind of generic. And, basically, it's just a quick, I don't have to search through the domain controller logs, but once I pull those out, the logs are still very generic like you get from Microsoft. Area code four three one one. Okay. I had to go look that up. It doesn't take it any further than just a copy based on the domain controller.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"When making a decision about which solution to purchase, it often comes down to a choice between Thycotic and CyberArk, and the cost and features one gets with the latter provides a little more value and saves money in the process, although the former is somewhat easier to deploy and to get up and running."
"The solution's stability is flawless; it's very stable."
"At this early stage, and based on my demo experience over the last two weeks, it appears to have more features than we require, but we can grow into it."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the random changing of passwords."
"The privileged access management, which is the Safe Access Model, is the most valuable feature."
"We implemented the product for our privileged identities. We have configured them in check-in/check-out rotation. Delinea Secret Server rotates the password each time a privileged identity is checked in, making the password valid only for some time."
"I prefer Thycotic because of the security, the fact that it is easy to administer, and the features."
"The solution is good."
"Monitoring is one of the most valuable features for us."
"It's very simple to manage and implement. Its functions are straightforward. You get all the basic features, such as you get the option to unlock the user account if it is locked. You can enforce password policies, and you also have the option to allow them to reset their passwords if they forget it. These were the basic requirements of my company that we could achieve through this product."
"The most valuable feature is the ability for remote users to change their login credentials using their mobile devices."
"One of the most valuable features is the self-service capability. I"
"This solution has improved our security because our users can now change passwords on the fly."
"The solution provides wide options for multifactor authentication."
"ADSelfService has been highly stable."
"Having multifactor authentication in Windows machines."

Cons

"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"One of the product areas that could be improved is the ease of handling SSL certificates within the application."
"The integration with the ticketing system ServiceNow is complex."
"It is also very expensive, and its price should be lower."
"The API is no good."
"I formerly used only one service: the remote server. For example, I connected to the Active Directory user and the computer's console. But now, I need to do a remote connection to the domain controller. Maybe it only connects to that tool, the Active Directory users, and the computer management console, but not to the domain controller. Another thing Delinea could add is multi-factor authentication."
"I think that the main interface should integrate better with non-standard applications and clients, to connect with other systems."
"The main concern is that Delinea Secret Server is not suitable for modern technology."
"Could be simplified, not user-friendly."
"The worst part is that the solution can only be installed or updated on a device if it is physically connected to the local network."
"There is a lack of specific information provided by the analytics portion of the software."
"We need more reports for visualization."
"They could improve their security of the products to prevent vulnerabilities."
"The registration process could be improved. It should be easier for users to register for the service."
"The price must be reduced."
"Asset management/discover and reporting."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Compared to other solutions, Delinea Secret Server is competitively priced but on the higher side."
"We have an enterprise license as well as a user license and a support license."
"In the Nigerian market, the adoption of Delinea depends largely on an organization's budget. If they have the financial capacity, they might consider Delinea as a viable option."
"It is very expensive, and its price should be lower."
"I would rate the pricing a six out of ten, with ten being a high price."
"It isn't terribly expensive."
"When comparing the price of Thycotic Secret Server with other solutions it is reasonable."
"There is an annual license fee per user and the price is fair."
"You purchase the license for one time, and you can use it for a lifetime. The only thing is that in order to get support, you need to upgrade your product to the latest solution. You need to keep a support contract with them for which you have to pay some amount. It's a very small amount for renewing their support contract. Overall, it's very cost-effective."
"Using this solution costs us about $1,200 USD per year."
