It's easy to set up because you point the DNS to it, and it's working in under 15 minutes
Cloudflare is highly scalable. Cloudflare is a system with a web portal that the end users like me see. It's a console where we can adjust the DNS, caching, and security features all in that console. Cloudflare owns thousands of servers across the world that cache the data. It's a powerful solution. When clients sign up for Cloudflare, they're getting this monster content delivery network, security, and a web application firewall in one. It's all rolled into one, and it's massive. Unless you have your website hosted on a massive hosting provider, there's no way that you can deliver the amount of data that Cloudflare can provide to the end users. If you have static content, there's no way that you can ever match what Cloudflare can do. Obviously, there are competitors to Cloudflare that do the same, but I'm saying other types of solutions. Let's say you go with F5. Great, that's on-prem. That's in your colo. You can't deliver as much data to the internet as you can with a CDN. You don't have to spend $20,000 on a net scaler, F5, or whatever Cisco's selling now. You don't have to buy that. You pay them $50 a month or $150 a month. It's totally worth it because even in five years, you'll never get the performance value, not just the actual ROI. You have to consider how much throughput you can get with Cloudflare.

Implements confidentiality principles effectively
Over the years, a lot has changed, so it is not that much at the moment. I know they are all working on changing the look and feel, the UI. It is always good to have a more modern look and feel than the old-school square blocks. Other than that, it's mainly support. Having someone within a region who understands the countries and how they approach data and information security is sometimes where the problem lies. It's not always the product.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Cloudflare has many features."
"The most valuable feature of Cloudflare is the GUI. You are able to control the solution very well through the interface. There is a lot of functionality that is embedded in the service."
"It is a fast and secure DNS."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is external DNS. It is also very secure. They have their own main server and once you configure it, the product takes care of everything. There are no issues in resolving IPs and low latency is also present."
"Cloudflare offers CDN and DDoS protection. We have the front end, API, and database in how you structure applications."
"When using services like Heroku, Cloudflare is very useful for CNAME flattening. I also use it for their end-to-end SSL with TLS authentication on nginx for securing servers."
"The attacker won't have details since my public IP is anonymous. It offers us good privacy."
"I get a lot of value from Cloudflare's API because it enables you to build a separate environment inside the solution. You can create a domain for performing test requests before you move to the production environment and connect various domains."
"It is a good product. It provides network visibility, which is important. Gigamon can bring some optimizations to my network. It is helpful for security inspection, and it makes my firewall work fast because my firewall doesn't have to do the inspection of the SSL connections, for example."
"The most valuable feature is NetFlow."
"It offers straightforward integration."
"The most valuable feature for improving network visibility with Gigamon is the packet filtering capability."
"The solution is straightforward to set up."
"It has high stability."
"The tool's most valuable feature is the encryption feature. From a security perspective, the solution hasn't significantly strengthened our security posture. However, it has greatly improved performance by streamlining encryption processes and avoiding encryption at multiple layers. This has also simplified troubleshooting, as we can whitelist certain processes."
"The most effective aspect of Trellix DLP is that it does what it's supposed to do."
"Trellix can transfer the data through the cloud. The storage device control is an important feature."
"Trellix DLP helps handle false positives, but it depends on your configuration. It is quite overwhelming in terms of its dashboard."
"Trellix DLP offers many features, using EDR, EPP, disk encryption, and other features."
"It prevents enterprises from installing external software and devices and can block specific network pathways."
"Trellix DLP has an agent that continuously scans the endpoint and sends the data to the portal. From there, it continuously leverages data from its threat intelligence."
"Trellix's technical support deserves a perfect rating, and I would rate it ten out of ten compared to other solutions."
"I rate the product an eight out of ten."

Cons

"For the free and Pro plans, Cloudflare could use a simple bot to provide information to users. This would improve support, especially for less advanced users who utilize the free components."
"Cloudflare could offer a better view or maybe dashboards of the main resources used in the client."
"There might be helpful if there was some web application firewall feature."
"We're facing challenges due to an upgrade in the machine learning model. The problem arises from some users abusing the APIs, resulting in an influx of suspicious traffic. Cloudflare's learning model mistakenly identifies this traffic as human. Consequently, it assigns it a higher trust score, akin to legitimate human traffic, causing complications in our architecture. Previously, such traffic would have been categorized as suspicious, enabling us to apply appropriate blocking rules. However, we encounter difficulties distinguishing between genuine and suspicious traffic with the new categorization. Despite these challenges, overall, Cloudflare remains the preferred solution compared to Azure, AWS CloudFront, and Google Cloud Armor."
"The documentation could improve for Cloudflare DNS."
"It should be easier to collect the logs with companies like Sumo. However, based on my discussions with the salespeople, I understand that's how they make their money. With the enterprise product, they want people doing those kinds of enterprise features to do the logging. They want them to pay a lot of money, and that's where I have an issue with them. That should be a default. You should be able to get the log no matter what. The logging should be universal."
"The solution could be more user-friendly."
"There could be more courses with engineers. I like e-learning, however, having a specialist in a classroom is more comfortable for me."
"In terms of improvement, while the initial setup is not overly complicated, we did encounter a few issues."
"The Gigamon Deep Observability Pipeline should have a feature showing the traffic flow within its platform. Currently, customers have to use separate tools for monitoring, which is inconvenient. If it had its visibility feature, it would make monitoring easier and more complete without needing extra tools."
"It only inspects a specific kind of traffic. There should be different kinds of use cases."
"The security should be improved."
"Its filtering feature needs improvement."
"They should increase the solution's cluster capacity."
"The graphical user interface could be improved."
"In future releases, I would like to see like to see encryption available on the cloud-based version."
"The bugs need improvement."
"Virtualization is complex and requires proper training. However, once you get trained, it is a very good product."
"Coverage for Mac OS is lacking as features like clipboard and print protection don't function as expected. The agents often affect endpoint performance negatively and do not behave consistently across all machines."
"Trellix is incompatible with Linux, and its DLP part is incompatible with Mac. Sometimes, it does not work on Windows, either."
"Trellix DLP can improve by addressing the lack of features such as deep drive DLP and email notifications present in other solutions like Forcepoint."
"The whole UI of the server console installed on the standalone computers is hefty."
"Coverage for Mac OS is lacking as features like clipboard and print protection don't function as expected."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution has many features but there are ones that you need to pay for. Sometimes you have to find out which is available for free and which you have to pay for."
"For Cloudflare, I recommend it heavily for small businesses with revenue under a couple of million dollars. Onboarding is easy, and they even have a free plan. This makes it simple for businesses in the $100,000-$500,000 range to try it out and see its value, allowing them to scale up their infrastructure as needed."
"The pricing depends on the usage, but the cheapest would be around 5,000 USD a month."
"We are using the free version."
"The product's pricing is minimal compared to other products."
"The tool is a premium product, so it is very expensive."
"In terms of licensing costs, we don't pay for licensing for Cloudflare. We only establish communication, then for peering, Cloudflare takes care of the cross-connection in different data centers."
"We are using the free tier of the solution."
"The solution's price is reasonable."
"The solution is highly-priced."
"I would rate the solution as expensive, around an eight or nine out of ten. There are other competitive solutions available."
"The pricing depends on the number of users in a company."
