Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Pros

"I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy."
"The interface is user-friendly and even if our tech isn't onsite, we can work with the owners to confirm that the data will be restored with no issues."
"This solution is stable."
"It is an excellent product; it is easy to deploy, stable, and fast, and their support is excellent."
"I could create VM backups from live machines without any issues."
"Give it a try as it's very easy to setup and works like charm."
"Valuable features for us include quick recovery, compression, and deduplication, and the mix of these features leads to a reduced backup footprint while having guaranteed fast recovery in case of DR."
"In Hyper-V, I think there are many valuable features, including replication between different hosts, high availability, live migration where I can migrate between one host to another, as well as incremental disaster recovery, which are very good."
"It has allowed me to implement a cost effective, highly configurable solution."
"Every user of IT infrastructure needs to have a backup, and this is a good solution to implement because it is so easy and straightforward."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"Technical support is very good."
"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface."
"The initial setup is very easy. It's not overly complex."
"I would recommend the solution; it's a very trustworthy solution."
"Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions"

Cons

"Sometimes, due to disk space and VSS, we have experienced stability issues."
"It would be nice to see a feature that backs up the host so that, in case of a server failure, an entire server could be restored all at once."
"The replication time between virtual machines is slow."
"If you look into the performance of a virtual machine and you look to the performance of the physical machine, the correlation between these is totally unclear."
"Unable to restore a VM when I needed it. Tried multiple hosts. Connected via gig switch and would never complete."
"The cloud backup and VMware support (now available in the latest releases), could do with some improvement."
"Sometime there are stability issues with older kit, for example, it can take a long time to compress the primary backup."
"We use Linux guests on Hyper-V clusters and we really need the file level restore on these VMs (ext3 and 4 file systems) functionality."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"The restore time could improve. When we had an issue the restore time was lengthy."
"The initial setup is a little complex as it has to be done in the office and requires someone to come in and install the solution on your server, then configure the scheduling, backup pushing, and so on."
"They can add some production backup capabilities and the ability to do single instance back up. At the moment, it doesn't do deduplication on the standard backup. So, the issue is backing up PSG files for customers who have limited bandwidth. The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup. We do use SQL ourselves using a PowerShell script with the VDA tools as a module. That's how we back up. The rotation feature would be nice to have, but I know that they've got it on their dashboard or on their list to look at. They can also do a few tweaks to the dashboard. I would like the reporting capabilities on the portal to be much more granular. Normally, I export it to a text file, and then I run it through a pivot table in order to look at it from a cost-recovery point of view and to see when the backup last ran and if it was successful when it ran two or three days ago. Such a feature would work really well for my market. They can also add a cost-effective backup for Android and Apple cellphones. I've had one or two customers who were looking for this feature. I haven't found this functionality at the moment. I've been looking for a product that does that."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable."
"The solution's pricing is very high."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"No other product offers these features for this price. The ROI is great."
"Its yearly maintenance fee is fairly high for me to renew for upgrades and support."
"There is a free version for two VMs. I would advise to study the deployment environment well, prior to committing to order a license per host."
"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"By implementing the solution at multiple locations, significant cost savings were achieved."
"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"VMware is a little pricey, but it is a good solution and priced similar to other products."
"Altaro VM Backup is affordably priced. It is a best value for its price and has almost every feature that an expensive, popular product offers."
"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
"The solution is expensive."
"Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"We have a very good return on investment."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
