Lacks multi-platform support and physical infrastructure but excels in storage optimization
We use it for VM backup and Office 365 backup I find the solution to be user-friendly and easy to manage and deploy. It provides storage for Office 365, which is beneficial, and the deduplication technology is excellent, especially in optimizing storage capacity compared to others. In terms of…

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The ease of use of the solution is its most valuable feature. The interface is also excellent."
"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"The product has many valuable features for handling backup needs, including replication, live migration, and incremental disaster recovery."
"The costs of performing restores are less than ever before as we can save a lot of time with this software."
"Great backup features for all my Hyper V machines."
"Altaro is always our go-to VM backup software."
"The CDP backup feature is very nice, as it allows you to take backups at high frequencies and with application consistency."
"Generally, the entire program is brilliant, and there isn't any one feature that I can pick out."
"I liked the way the product worked, its flexibility on the storage and cost, and the way it was supported."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is its online backup capacity because you don't have to do an entire backup again and again, it just does whatever you type in, you type a, it goes a, you type b, it goes b. It doesn't take an entire site up again and again. So that incremental and bit by bit backup is important, it is a nice feature here."
"Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end."
"The best feature is that it's very user-friendly to do scheduled backups and version maintenance."
"The solution is simple to use and easy to configure."
"Technical support is very good."
"Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions"
"I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup."

Cons

"Sometimes, due to disk space and VSS, we have experienced stability issues."
"The software does have occasional problems with shadow copy but restarting the services rectifies this."
"The cloud backup and VMware support (now available in the latest releases), could do with some improvement."
"The scalability of the solution is limited."
"The only issue at the moment is a lack of throttling."
"Unable to restore a VM when I needed it. Tried multiple hosts. Connected via gig switch and would never complete."
"It would be good to if they would expand the functionality to be able to backup normal servers without Hyper-V."
"Migrating the physical through a backup and restore to a virtual environment would be very helpful."
"The product could be more user-friendly."
"There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station."
"The Linux GUI leaves a lot to be desired. It lacks many of the features of the Windows version and is buggy, but it is still usable."
"The solution needs a better graphical user interface. It's a graphical user interface that is very old-school right now. They could give it a little more modern feel."
"The solution's pricing is very high."
"The interface could use some updating."
"The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup."
"The restore time could improve. When we had an issue the restore time was lengthy."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is a free version for Hosts with 2 VMs."
"The pricing is okay,"
"The price is great for the utility you get and the licensing has never caused any issues with my company."
"By implementing the solution at multiple locations, significant cost savings were achieved."
"VMware is a little pricey, but it is a good solution and priced similar to other products."
"I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"The solution is expensive."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
"We have a very good return on investment."
"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
"It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
