Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"One of the most valuable features of Acronis is its AnyData Engine which allows any device to connect to any other device for the purpose of data restoration."
"We have never had a backup fail because of the software."
"For me, the cost is a significant advantage."
"Technical support from Acronis is pretty good; it is world-class, with very good and broad support."
"The ability to clone backups."
"The tool’s licensing and pricing are economical for SMB customers."
"It's a good solution that's very easy to use."
"The administration is pretty flexible in terms of defining a multi-tenant type of setup."
"The most valuable feature of MSP360 Backup is its reliability."
"The solution is appliance-free, the initial setup is very straightforward, the scalability and stability have never been a problem for us, technical support is very good, and we have found the price point to be quite good."
"It has allowed me to implement a cost effective, highly configurable solution."
"I liked the way the product worked, its flexibility on the storage and cost, and the way it was supported."
"General ease of use and performance of the Windows version is the most valuable feature."
"The solution is easy to access and handles things efficiently."
"Block level transfers have significantly reduced the amount of time for transfers over some other solutions"
"Client-side encryption minimizes worries about data being captured on the back-end."

Cons

"Restore processes fail sometimes if the file is corrupt."
"I also think the fact that it is extremely customizable means that it's really easy to get something wrong, and it not work as intended."
"Those functions have been removed from the product and it's very frustrating."
"The dashboards for digital operations can be improved."
"On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly."
"The licensing approach becomes intricate when dealing with SharePoint."
"The solution could improve by providing more database backup features and have better integration with many different types of databases."
"There can be inconsistencies between builds in terms of the product working with one NIC or another, especially on newer generation servers."
"Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"If I have an incident and I need to restore something very fast, I want to restore a particular virtual machine, maybe in an hour and that is not possible to do with MSP360."
"The interface feels like it is targeted for end users who typically are looking for an all-in-one integrated push button solution. It would be better if the interface had a beginner mode and an expert mode."
"The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup."
"Maybe implement an easier interface for basic users. For example, a set-up wizard with all the commonly used features as default."
"As for what can be improved, some reports could be simplified so that you know how much backup you have done and what your backup details are. That report is available but it is very tough to get. I would like to know "today I have just uploaded 35 MB, tomorrow I have loaded 10 MB so my trend of backup is increasing.""
"The product could be more user-friendly."

"The cost is pretty inexpensive. Around four to five dollars per device, per workstation on each server."
