Reliable image backups have protected our HMIs and simplified on‑premises recovery
We have not tried the vulnerability assessment feature yet because we have a different set of protocols for our cybersecurity. We conduct audits and plug the gaps as part of our security approach. We are not using AI with the anti-malware from Acronis; we are using it only for backup and recovery. On the backup and restoration side with Acronis Backup, some on-premises AI features which can detect anomalies may be something which would improve the product significantly. Otherwise, we are not very comfortable with cloud-based solutions at this time. We are looking for products which are entirely on-premises, so they remain within our control.

The solution provides the ability to backup all types of cloud drives, is inexpensive, and has decent support
MSP360 Backup provides the backup functionality, but we need to provide the storage component. We can use Azure, AWS, or another provider, but we need to choose the storage provider and create a bucket to store our data. The vendor is making changes to improve the functionality of the service and the separation of storage, but I would like to see more integration and a knowledge base of the tool. Currently trying to understand why the storage is separated and how to implement the storage properly is a challenge. Using the solution incurs additional charges for the device storage and backup which are not included in the service. Unlike other solutions such as Kohl which includes everything at one price. MSP360 Backup can be improved by adding inclusive pricing.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I don't worry that the backups aren't running or panic when a storm is coming through; it just reassures us because we've seen what it's doing, what it can do, and that it's doing what we're asking it to do."
"It has simple buying options and deployments. You can buy on-cloud, on-premises, or hybrid solutions. Acronis Backup is very easy to deploy. It also does not consume much hardware. The administrator's tasks are very simple. It is very user friendly, and it also has good security features with low-level encryption and data encryption."
"For me, it's been very successful and very effective."
"The deployment of operating systems to new or repaired systems is much faster than before."
"This product gave us two major features: Imaging allowed us to create clones from the production server with ultimate speed, and protection against server failures with the ability to restore on different hardware."
"The recent release, Acronis 12, is integrated with Cloud Acronis and is useful to backup data while providing a stronger security policy for critical data."
"Backups of servers while they are running."
"The performance has been fine so far."
"Supports peer-to-peer backup using Minio, which has allowed us to easily pre-seed and maintain an off-site backup within driving distance, making tactical recovery of accidental file deletions easy."
"The most valuable feature for me is that I can see what has been successfully backed up and what has not, which is very valuable because you don't have to check the machines, and the second feature is that you can change backup settings in the portal."
"One massive advantage of this solution, as compared to more enterprise products, is that no firewall changes are needed on the client's premises. For the product to back up from the client's premise to the cloud, it just needs port 8 and port 443, which are anyway always open. This was one of the things that made us decide to go with the product. It is very difficult to justify a firewall change for a small client who doesn't even know what a firewall is and how to maintain a firewall, or doesn't have anybody maintaining their firewall. You then have to maintain the firewall. MSP360 Backup takes away firewall change requirements, VPNs, or channels that are needed for the backup."
"It has allowed me to implement a cost effective, highly configurable solution."
"The solution is appliance-free, the initial setup is very straightforward, the scalability and stability have never been a problem for us, technical support is very good, and we have found the price point to be quite good."
"MSP360 Backup's most valuable feature is its backup interface."
"I liked the way the product worked, its flexibility on the storage and cost, and the way it was supported."
"I was mainly concerned with cloud backups, OneDrive backups, consumer OneDrive, business OneDrive, Google backups, and SharePoint backups. The solution did a good job of the backup."

Cons

"The ability to use computing resources, the storage nose is stuck frequently and we have to reboot it, and I'm told that it needs 128GB memory and SAS disk to keep it stable, all of these elements leave me unsatisfied."
"Comparatively, depending on the setup, it can be costly."
"It does not delete locked files."
"It does not do what it says on the tin at all."
"The only problem that I face while using this software is that the backup taken using its older versions do at times create problem while being restored with new versions."
"We would always support better pricing."
"In the span of six months, maintenance is done at least twice and you are told that it is coming up, with apologies for the inconvenience. It's a distraction, and it interferes with the backup schedule."
"The support takes too much time to respond to callbacks. Calls are often scheduled around four to five PM and tend to occur with a two-hour delay each time."
"The other issue is that I don't like the implementation of the SQL backup."
"The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines."
"The graphics are looking a bit old and should be updated."
"The main improvement is that it should have GDPR compliance. That's the problematic point. They say they are GDPR compliant, but they are not."
"There are some things that we don't like about it. That is why I was exploring alternatives in a hyper-scale environment. That is why I was checking IT Central Station."
"We could basically use just a more concise visual dashboard reporting on the status of the various machines."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is quite friendly on the pocket. You need to pay the licensing cost upfront, and then the support charges are on an annual basis."
"The pricing is reasonable. However, it depends on the storage that you use. It would be great to have a package that we can use up to a certain size of the backup, this would allow us to know what the price is going to be up to that capacity."
"The price is reasonable."
"The pricing is comparable to the newest solution available on the market, Altaro."
"The pricing model is a little complex to find the right size for what you need. It takes a lot of hours to figure it out."
"When it comes to elements like cost, I think it is the only backup solution which has perpetual licenses, whereby you buy the license once and for all."
"Licensing fees are billed annually and there are no extra charges."
"I think that the prices of the product go up every year. If one is extremely expensive and ten is absolutely cheap, I rate the product price as six."
"The solution is expensive."
"It includes a standard licensing fee. Once a year, there is a rebranding fee. The licensing costs are available on the internet for MSP360 Backup. There is a discount structure where if you have over 50 devices, you get a 50% discount. So, my cost is $2 a license per month."
"I rate the price of MSP360 Backup a seven out of ten."
"Its pricing needs improvement."
"MSP360 is vastly cheaper than its competitors and has almost all the same features."
"We have a very good return on investment."
"Pricing is reasonable although can be quite a large upfront cost."
"It provides a good cost savings compared to our previous cloud backup."
