Robust scalability and flexibility in managing workflow
There is a need for improved support in HPE GreenLake, including more administrators and engineers to provide faster resolution for issues. Storage issues can impact the entire data center, especially in virtualization environments where multiple virtual machines are connected. Availability of hardware and timely monitoring have been reported as a problem, with some difficulties in obtaining hardware due to limited stock in the local market.

Has snapshot features and offers a clear understanding of their storage usage and capacity
There is a feature called snapshots. We put snapshots on disks, and we can save information. In the case of ransomware, everything is in the snapshot. We have a snapshot lock on it, so it's safe. We actually send this information to another city, saving all the information a couple of times each day to Pure Storage. This is something that everyone should do, like banks. They have the Pure Storage solution, and each hour, they should send all the information they have to a second, third, or fourth storage in another city to ensure they have the storage backed up. I invented a possible way to ensure Pure Storage could help customers in the future, and we implemented this solution with their technology. I know their engineers are talking to other banks in the northern region to see if they want to implement the same thing. Pure Storage had the technology already, but no one tested it the way I wanted to, and it worked fine. We have primary storage that is fast and secondary storage that is slow, but the replication links are very fast. We can replicate a lot of storage in a short time to a different city and reverse the storage when needed, just for disaster recovery. Pure Storage is now telling customers they can do it this way, and it's awesome. Interface and Ease of Use: -------------------------- Ease of use is one of the main reasons we use Pure Storage. Dell PowerMAX's usage is hard. You have to go through long and hard training just to learn how to use it. Here, you connect with a Zoom or Teams meeting, and they guide you through what you need to do. They don't just show you; we, as customers, have to do it ourselves with their guidance. They provide a workshop, tell us what to do, and we do it. By doing this repeatedly, we learn and can handle everything that's needed. We've implemented new features or solutions, working with storage engineers to ensure it all works. It's that easy to work with.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Its performance is a significant improvement over the legacy stack that we had."
"The solution integrates well with Dell, Cisco switches, or other switches."
"It sort of lines up with our direction to move to the cloud. By using a hybrid cloud service to get us there, this allows us to run our legacy workloads on-premise. Those which are not really suited to a proper cloud."
"It offers businesses the flexibility and scalability of the public cloud while having their infrastructure on-premises."
"It has helped us with the planning, and in concert with this, we are doing a lot of virtualizations. For a lot of cases, we are bringing in less gear and equipment to be able to accomplish the same things. It makes better use of what we do bring in."
"The most valuable feature for me is the ability to perform backups with a graphical user interface (GUI). It makes the process easy."
"The solution's technical support does an excellent job."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to grow into a lower price point at some point in time."
"We have snapshots. We put snapshots on disks, and we can save information. In the case of ransomware, everything is in the snapshot. We have a snapshot lock on it, so it's safe."
"The Evergreen program is excellent, and the pricing is quite reasonable. My friends who work there are doing very well and consistently achieving strong results. Like any company, they experience occasional downturns but perform impressively overall."

Cons

"Part of the integration, with cutting things over to Unisys, may have hurt us a bit. We had a couple of rough implementations earlier this year. Part of that was due to some internal system changes on HPE's side. We are keeping an eye on this to make sure it doesn't happen again."
"HPE GreenLake can improve by making some of the user's experience better. It can take some time to learn."
"Unfortunately, HPE GreenLake can be sold only in Bahrain, UAE, and the Middle East, meaning it can be sold in only three or four countries because it requires certain approvals from countries where it has to be used."
"The support service needs improvement. The support team isn't very active in addressing cases. It should also provide a web application."
"I would like to have more detail in the monitoring."
"The time to receive a price when I am going to a proposal is too long."
"HPE GreenLake can improve the price."
"Both times that we've had to increase the hardware, the deployment took way longer than expected. In addition, we haven't yet gotten to a use point where the cost is below what it would cost us to provision the same set of services on HPE hardware outside of the GreenLake service."
"The only potential drawback is that Pure Storage might be overkill if you don't need microsecond response times."
"It would be nice to have support in Swedish."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you're used to buying HPE servers, it's less expensive than that. I don't really compare competitor servers because HPE has never given me any reason to look otherwise. However, if you get good pricing on HPE servers, you get better pricing on GreenLake."
"It's a small cost per month compared to that one-time purchase. The big thing is if you get your one-time purchase wrong, then you are buying a lot more. With GreenLake, if we miss estimate (which with all the planning, you usually don't), we sign a piece of paper, and then they send more equipment in."
"The price could be more flexible."
"Our first year costs were approximately $1.2 million instead of spending five to six million dollars."
"HPE GreenLake has been growing in popularity due to its subscription model. The flexibility of the solution allows it to adapt to the changing market trends towards more edge performance and workloads."
"It is significantly less expensive than going to cloud for development... Our cost is approximately $25,000 a month."
"If you are looking to turn some of your capital expense into operational expense, this allows you to do it. It is a good idea."
"HPE GreenLake payment model is you pay for what you use. You can purchase a yearly, quarterly, or half-year license. The overall price of the solution is a little high and hopeful there can be better margins in the future."
"The pricing is very good."
