Effortless to use and is one of the easiest products to deploy
Huntress is effortless to use. It's one of the easiest products to deploy. Pushing out through our RMM is simple, and using it is straightforward once it's on a machine. The end user doesn't have to do anything. Everything comes back to us. I love that the alerts are human-curated. They take a look at alerts before we get them. Other products are very noisy. They'll send you an alert about anything. About 95 percent of those alerts go to Huntress first. They check to make sure that it's real and only alert us if it's actionable, something that requires our attention. When I get an alert from Huntress, it must be looked at. I love that. It saves a ton of time for my people. It can fix low-severity threats. Their team is 24/7, whereas my team is not. We want them to take action on known bad things. Sometimes, that means fixing the problem or isolating the machine so multiple machines aren't getting hit. I love that they can address those issues within a very short time.

The solution is expensive, support is poor, and it takes time to understand the product
Customers want solutions that provide endpoint detection and response. The traditional antivirus solutions and the market trend are changing. Customers are asking for the latest technologies. Carbon Black has very good market strategies. We do the marketing activities and promote the product to the…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is incredibly efficient for our engineering team because Huntress provides all the information needed to fix issues, not just flag them."
"While threat hunting is undoubtedly the most valuable feature, the combination of IP scanning, foothold identification, and canary monitoring has also proven to be incredibly beneficial."
"Huntress is extremely well-written software. I used to be a developer, and I see how they've written it. It's excellent. I've never had an issue with it crashing a machine. It's small, tight code."
"We saw the benefits of Huntress pretty quickly. Once it started detecting threats, it was great."
"Foothold detection is a valuable feature, acting as a valuable second set of eyes for both us and our clients."
"The EDR tools are the most beneficial. We protect all our clients' endpoints through their security operation center, which runs through the EDR. We like that it's a small installation that doesn't take up much processing space, and we can quickly install it on our machines. We push out the agents automatically and get everybody up and running quickly."
"The most valuable aspect of Huntress is its ability to isolate legacy systems from the network, preventing the spread of threats."
"After deployment, it takes some time to scan and process everything. Huntress has effectively flagged issues such as password files on desktops, which it identifies as low-level alerts. It also handles more significant threats effectively."
"We can access computers remotely if we need to."
"CB Defense is more powerful, and you can take more actions than others. Its security features and signatures are constantly updated, so it is more effective than other security solutions."
"The visibility provided has been great."
"The most valuable feature is that it detects and stops malicious executables."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is one of the best EDR tools in the market."
"Once the solution is installed and configured correctly it does not require a lot of hands-on attention until you need upgrading."
"The portal is easy to use and manage."
"We have another piece of that infrastructure that does what they call threat emulation. It's like sandboxing where it takes files that it doesn't know about, puts them in a VM-type environment, and it kicks them off to see if there's any malware or tendencies that might look like malware, that kind of thing."

Cons

"Ultimately, the clarity of their alerts is paramount for effective threat communication and could benefit from clearer remediation steps."
"One area for improvement in Huntress would be to allow for PSA integration from a specific IP address or hostname for better security measures."
"The product could be improved in terms of customization options available for reports."
"I am anxiously watching to see how they evolve their MDR for Office 365. If anything, I would like more automated remediation capabilities in their MDR for Office 365."
"One issue is the managed antivirus. Huntress takes control of the antivirus built into Windows Defender, but it doesn't if, for some reason, Defender isn't working properly and doesn't attempt to fix it. We have to fix it with some scripts so that Defender reports correctly to Huntress. It would be nice if they took that action on our behalf. If they saw a problem with Defender, they should roll out a fix."
"Huntress' Process Insights feature could benefit from more robust search and filtering capabilities."
"The solution's UI is an area with certain shortcomings that need improvement."
"Huntress should have a more user-friendly interface because it takes some understanding to work our way through the interfaces."
"A search bar in the investigation page and some AI-related tasks like outgoing alerts, or recent tactics that are being used in the market, must be embedded in the tool so that it's easier to find alerts."
"Right now, Carbon Black CB Defense doesn't support cloud computing and Kubernetes."
"The pricing could be more reasonable."
"It would be a better solution if Carbon Black Cb Defense had an on-promise solution and a virus auto delete or quarantine."
"The endpoint machines need improvement."
"The local technical support is very poor, but the support from headquarters is very nice."
"Carbon Black CB Defense has helped improve my organization by allowing us to have better data so that we can do correlation and get visibility into the alerts."
"Based on all the security roles and the release privilege, it could take time for an application to be whitelisted and approved for use."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing model for Huntress is similar to competitors and is charged per endpoint."
"It is simple. It is reasonable. They raised my prices this year. We never like price increases, but they continue to add value, so we just keep adding agents as we grow and as our clients grow."
"We haven't had any problems with Huntress' pricing. We're at 250 workstations, and we've grown considerably this year. They've been able to handle everything that we've thrown at them within that time frame. They're also reducing the price based on how many endpoints we add."
"While other options have emerged since Huntress' arrival, I believe it still offers the best value for the features and services it provides."
"I rate the product pricing six out of ten for the Malaysian market. However, I would rate it a three out of ten for the Australian, New Zealand, or Singapore markets."
"Huntress is priced fairly for the services and value it provides."
"It works well for an MSP."
"The solution's pricing is fair."
"The product is expensive. There are some additional costs apart from the standard licensing charges attached to the solution."
"We have branches, we have different companies, but we cannot buy less than 100 licenses. This does not make sense to me... It should be more flexible. I can understand their saying, "Okay, to be a customer you need 100," but to add on to that number it should be something very straightforward. If I need to add five, for example, I shouldn't need to add 100."
"The solution has almost the same price as other different kinds of infrastructures, but it offers a lot of different features."
"It is more expensive, but it's worth it. There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fee."
"Carbon Black provides competitive pricing."
"This is a really expensive product and we pay licensing fees on a yearly basis."
"It's reasonable in price"
"The pricing is annually based and operates through another department than mine."
