AI insights have improved wireless visibility and now proactively prevent network issues
I am somewhat uncertain about the room for improvement for Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points because I am sure that some concepts will be incorporated in the future. Recently, HP acquired Juniper, and now under the HP umbrella, we have both Aruba and Juniper Mist, which raises questions about how to compete in the market. Customers often ask me to compare them, and I have to pitch both even though they are from the same organization. Regarding gaps for improvement for Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points, I think pricing is a complicated issue since Cisco can drastically reduce prices, unlike Juniper.

Given my experience with NETGEAR Insight Access Points, my piece of advice for other organizations considering it is that they have to look at the rest of their system because NETGEAR Insight Access Points is quite useless with anything but the Wi-Fi system. I rate this product an 8 out of 10.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The lack of integration or the lack of work needed to be put it into the local site to get it to work is really lovely."
"The most valuable feature of Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) is the ability to troubleshoot ports on the network. Additionally, when there is an update on the APs they are able to reboot quickly reducing downtime. Other solutions have a longer downtime when updates are done."
"Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points save considerable time compared to legacy vendors such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Cambium, which require extensive troubleshooting."
"Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points is a cloud-based solution that is easy to use, and the ease of control and management means our 10,000 users do not face any challenges in connecting because the connection process is straightforward and simple."
"The most effective features in the Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points include the fact that it's completely cloud-managed, the Marvis AI agent, the ease of use, and the user-friendly interface, along with a plethora of features."
"The solution is pretty generic and easy to use."
"For the most part, it does what it's supposed to do, and I like it. It's a great product."
"The AI capabilities of Mist Wireless are superior to other OEMs."
"I now have the ability to remote access my network, which works extremely well and saves me time and travel because I can access it from any place without needing to be physically at the device."
"We use NETGEAR's Insight management solution to do off-property controls. It is user-friendly and provides network management, monitoring, and service deployment across multiple remote and local sites. That means I don't have to be physically at a location to do things if I want to make any changes to the network. It saves time and money."
"I'm able to do a lot of things, because the GUI is designed very well. I'm able to remotely make certain changes via my phone and apply them right away. It makes life easier when it comes to managing the equipment. The Insight management solution phone app is very good. It enables me to do what I want to do."
"The internet connectivity is good."
"Our company sometimes uses the solution's technical support, and we have seen that they sort out our general problems quickly."
"The metrics demonstrate that NETGEAR really does a good job of balancing the load between the various access points on the networks and this results in an elimination of downtime."
"The solution enables me to manage my entire network from anywhere in the world."
"The biggest lesson that I've learned from using the Insight access points is that there is no need for expertise."

Cons

"I need a bit more time with it before criticizing the features."
"Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points’ support services need improvement."
"I suggest that the AI tool in the Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points needs to be a little bit more ChatGPT-like, allowing easier communication in normal language instead of requiring specific prompts."
"Juniper should make the products more affordable."
"If you want to do more specific stuff, it's a bit limited."
"Juniper needs to improve the hardware quality of Juniper Mist Wireless Access Points."
"The price could be better."
"The pricing should be made cheaper."
"Managing users could be improved as it is quite difficult to block someone, and it is impossible to block someone on one specific access point."
"While the data throughput does provide us with full insight into data being used, we find that it's not very accurate."
"I put in a NETGEAR BR200 router and it gave me a lot of headaches when trying to create VLANs."
"The biggest issue I've had is that it works very well with the WiFi, but it does not offer any assistance at all with the routers. You can't control them or manage them at all. As soon as you want to use anything on the network side—because I have multiple 28-port switches—you can't manage them using this app."
"Ubiquiti is a very good company. NETGEAR should look at that model and expand on its remote capabilities. Ubiquiti seems to have a better product."
"A con is the backend system which is very, very slow."
"My major problem is right now, the area which I need to cover is around 7,000 to 10,000 square feet...I would like NETGEAR Insight Access Points to extend the area coverage they provide."
"The pricing and standard connectivity can be further improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If a customer has a budget of around five lakhs in Indian currency, they can afford Juniper products."

"The solution is expensive."
"The pricing is something Juniper Wireless Access Points (AP Series) can work on. The pricing is very high compared to the competition."
"The pricing is too high."
"Juniper Wireless AP's price is a little more expensive than other solutions, but you get what you pay for."
"I rate Juniper Mist's pricing a ten out of ten since it is expensive."
"The pricing is fair."
"We have some basic models they give without a license."
"It is an expensive solution."
"It wasn't much more than 100 dollars a year. For the devices that we have, the pricing was pretty fair."
"I think that the price of the product is reasonable."
"The pricing seems to be reasonable."
"Price-wise, it is a little too high, about $20 higher than what it should be, but it's worth it. It's cheaper than Cisco's access point, but the products are not apples to apples."
"I can source the stuff pretty quickly wherever I go through the distributor. There is pricing available at NETGEAR if you can spend between $2,000 and $5,000 on a solution. So, there is special pricing that they can help with. The vendor's reps are very responsive. They have a good channel system."
"For what you get, the price of Insight access points is very reasonable."
