It's easy to set up because you point the DNS to it, and it's working in under 15 minutes
Cloudflare is highly scalable. Cloudflare is a system with a web portal that the end users like me see. It's a console where we can adjust the DNS, caching, and security features all in that console. Cloudflare owns thousands of servers across the world that cache the data. It's a powerful solution. When clients sign up for Cloudflare, they're getting this monster content delivery network, security, and a web application firewall in one. It's all rolled into one, and it's massive. Unless you have your website hosted on a massive hosting provider, there's no way that you can deliver the amount of data that Cloudflare can provide to the end users. If you have static content, there's no way that you can ever match what Cloudflare can do. Obviously, there are competitors to Cloudflare that do the same, but I'm saying other types of solutions. Let's say you go with F5. Great, that's on-prem. That's in your colo. You can't deliver as much data to the internet as you can with a CDN. You don't have to spend $20,000 on a net scaler, F5, or whatever Cisco's selling now. You don't have to buy that. You pay them $50 a month or $150 a month. It's totally worth it because even in five years, you'll never get the performance value, not just the actual ROI. You have to consider how much throughput you can get with Cloudflare.

Offers time and cost savings with integration, but user interface needs improvement
We are using it for our internal application development. We are testing those features of application gateways. We are integrating it with our solutions, application, Azure Application Gateway Microsoft has a vast variety of tools, and it blends very well. It provides a range of services, so it…

An excellent up-to-date data repository handling external threats successfully
We have multiple applications that we wanted to ensure were protected and we chose Symantec for that. I'm the head of IT infrastructure and we are partners with Symantec.  Symantec has specifically helped connect external users to our internal network. It has also enabled us to ensure that those…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The web application firewall brought us good security and a view of the accesses/blocks of the entire domain and subdomain that were accessed both by region (country) and IPs."
"The features of Cloudflare were found to be more beneficial and led to the decision to utilize it over other options."
"It is a fast and secure DNS."
"I like Cloudflare's application gateway and DDoS protection."
"The UI is good."
"It is easier to configure and develop documentation to see how we have configured firewalls."
"Smaller businesses have seen great ROI due to the low investment and strong performance."
"The overall experience with Cloudflare is positive, with a rating of eight out of ten."
"The solution is easy to set up."
"The solution provides great automation and it is easy to upgrade service."
"We chose this solution in the first place because it has access to Layer 7. I can control the requests and the content, which I can access on my network if I want to even if it's forbidden access to other external resources. If I want to monitor, for example, traffic, and apply this rule on Layer 7, I can do so. This was our main goal when implementing this application. We wanted to take advantage of the Gateway capabilities."
"Good customization; able to report and take action on alerts."
"Microsoft has a vast variety of tools, and it blends very well."
"Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is an easy-to-use solution."
"The solution has built-in rules that reduce alerts and are easy to configure."
"It has a filter available, although we are not currently using it because it is not part of our requirements. But it is a good option and when it becomes part of our requirements we will definitely use it."
"The setup was straightforward."
"The interface is user-friendly."
"The solution has an up-to-date data repository to deal with external threats."

Cons

"Although I think it's quite good, it doesn't provide me with all the features I would expect to have if I were using Imperva."
"Cloudflare's free plan is limited to 5,000 records for their free plan. They should increase that. For example, if I create a domain called abc.com and a subdomain called a.abc.com, my record count will be two. I can make a maximum of 5,000 subdomains. However, if we use our own DNS hosted on another provider, there is no limit. Their free plan also lacks name server customization."
"The integration of LLMs on the dashboard is something that is needed in the tool."
"There are some issues with the CDN services."
"Technical support is lacking."
"Even if I wanted to, I wouldn't be able to buy Cloudflare in my country."
"The documentation could improve for Cloudflare DNS."
"Cloudflare doesn't have a reverse lookup. We can only do a DNS lookup to get the IP address from the hostname. It doesn't work if you want to look up the hostname from an IPA address."
"The product could be easier to use and implement."
"In the next release, the solution could improve the integration with Service Mesh and other Azure Security Services."
"One of the challenges we faced was the solution does not support any other PCP protocols apart from HTTP and HTTPS."
"Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is not scalable."
"The solution should provide more security for certificate-based services so that we can implement more security on that."
"The support provided for the solution has certain shortcomings that need improvement, especially when it comes to the response time from the support team."
"Microsoft Azure Application Gateway is harder to manage than Imperva. It is not intuitive and stable compared to other products."
"We faced some downtime while validating CNAME."
"It would be an improvement if the management dashboards were not reliant upon Java."
"I'm not convinced that it's necessary the best solution going forward in the future."
"Sometimes scanning slows down the endpoints."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing for the service is reasonable, neither excessively cheap nor prohibitively expensive. It aligns well with the value of their solution."
"There are no additional costs beyond the standard licensing fees."
"We are using the free version."
"A free version of the solution is available."
"It's a premium model. You can start at zero and work your way up to the enterprise model, which has a very high pricing level."
"In terms of licensing costs, we don't pay for licensing for Cloudflare. We only establish communication, then for peering, Cloudflare takes care of the cross-connection in different data centers."
"The price of the solution is expensive."
"The product's pricing is cheap."
"It is an expensive solution. We have an enterprise agreement, it is monthly."
"Every solution comes with a license and cost. Microsoft provides the license and the total cost is for the maintenance every year."
"Regarding pricing for Azure Application Gateway, I would rate it at seven."
"The solution's pricing is not complex. It is not expensive from our point of view."
"I would rate the pricing a three out of ten, with ten being cheap and one being expensive."
"The product is not expensive."
"It is not expensive."
"The solution is cheaper than Imperva. I rate it four to five out of ten."
