Effective threat prevention with responsive customer support
We are using Fortinet FortiGate as a firewall Fortinet FortiGate has been invaluable. It has helped save costs due to its various features, reliable performance, very good UI, low latency, and stability. The Threat Intel engine in Fortinet FortiGate is highly rated for its effectiveness in…

Affordable, easy to configure firewall with fast, responsive support
The absolute best part of Sangfor NGAF is their support. It's a 24/7 support channel, and the last time I requested their assistance I got a reply within three minutes. They helped solve the problem immediately. Sangfor also gives you a warranty for any issues or defects with their hardware. If you find any issue, they will replace the hardware within five working days. We send any hardware that is faulty to our local country partner and they will do the RMA. When it comes to deployment environments, I like that you have options. If you want a hardware firewall, then you can use their hardware. Conversely, if you want a cloud firewall, then they can provide that, too.

Has efficient user access control feature and good technical support services
The multi-core architecture allows the running of multiple instances for checking files, even handling more than 2 GB of data. It has inbuilt reporting features, reducing the cost of external monitoring software. It's well-suited for organizations that need to transfer and scan large files. The scalability is good for small and medium-sized enterprises, but for organizations with more than 200 users, the cost can become a limiting factor. It is more suitable for large enterprises, especially for organizations with over 4,000 users. However, there could be flexibility in licensing, allowing organizations to cater to their specific needs and pay for the features and licenses they require. It can help reduce costs. I rate its scalability a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The scalability is good in Fortinet FortiGate."
"There are lots of features and most of them are deployed for internet security. Users are protected if they accidentally go to some malicious sites."
"The most valuable features of Fortinet FortiGate are remote access, web filtering, and IPS."
"Web filtering and two-factor authentication are great features."
"We purchased Fortinet because of the pricing, its functionality, because it met our requirements, and the total cost of ownership over five years was quite reasonable. In the market, Fortinet is rated quite well."
"We use a southern institution that's audited for IT security and the reporting that automatically comes off the unit makes it much easier to meet compliance standards and makes it easier as far as the amount of time that has to be spent to compile that information. If you get your reporting set up correctly when you initially set it up, you just select the one you want and hit print. The auditing trail on it is the best feature."
"This product is definitely scalable."
"It's an easy solution to set up."
"The tool's performance is good."
"SSL VPN is the best feature."
"The VPN connectivity feature is really nice."
"Particularly good in the DPI where we can inspect inbound and outbound traffic."
"It is a stable solution."
"Technical support is very good."
"Sangfor is a good solution that provides a WAF and firewall solution. Most other vendors, like Sophos and Fortinet and Cisco, only provide one solution. That's a valuable feature of Sangfor."
"The stability of Sangfor NGAF is good."
"The feature we found most valuable in SonicWall TZ is that it is user-friendly for an administrator."
"No negative impression of the scalability."
"I've found the technical support to be helpful."
"The most common feature in the firewall, apart from that traditional firewall, would be the security services, like application control, URL filtering, Gateway Anti-Virus, and IPS protection. These are the essential features in the firewalls which I think, has to be enabled and properly used at every network infrastructure."
"The solution is stable."
"We like their interface very much. It's pretty easy to use."
"The VPNs are rock solid. I never have an issue with them. We also have rules to block encrypted traffic to specific sites and geolocations. The integrated VPN functionality is easy to use."
"I have found this solution to be easier to use when compared to other products, such as those offered by Cisco."

Cons

"There were quite a few problems with the stability of the system."
"One area for improvement is the performance on bandwidth demands for smaller devices, as well as better web filtering."
"The stability of Fortinet FortiGate could improve."
"It should come integrated or have its own type of network monitor tool in a module. There should just be one package, and you are good to go."
"With the addition of some features, it is possible that FortiGate can be used in all verticals."
"The performance and speed are aspects of the solution that could always be improved upon."
"The feature which gives us a lot of pain is ASIC architecture."
"I would like to see improvements in the product's application rules."
"The cost of licensing is very high compared to other firewalls available here."
"The product must provide more IPS features."
"Lacks consistency in terms of filtering certain websites and applications."
"They need to improve their research team and they need to study their data to analyze it and build the product."
"The tool's support is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"I believe that IAM and NGFW need to merge into a single box, instead of there being two separate box solutions."
"I feel Sangfor should follow the hierarchy and close deals via resellers instead of closing it all with their own team."
"The setup phase is quite complex."
"The monitoring is a little bit confusing."
"The products' reporting can be improved."
"The technical support has room for improvement."
"They should consider working a bit more on their ransomware application."
"The stability could be a lot better."
"SonicWall TZ can improve the UI application and when you create any net policies or any new policy, it will not sync or work properly."
"It could probably be more user-friendly, and it could be more scalable with releases and subscriptions."
"The technology in this particular version is very old."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It was probably about $2,500 per firewall. It was all included. It included support, services, threat management software, and 24/7 FortiCare on it. Cisco products are more expensive."
"It's a very full-featured and it's priced well solution."
"Its pricing is competitive with other solutions."
"The price of FortiGate support is too expensive."
"Its price is affordable and lesser than Cisco. Cisco is expensive. In terms of licensing, there is only one issue. If a customer's license has expired a month ago and they do the renewal after one month, Fortinet renews the license from the start of the previous month. The activation of the product is done from the previous month, not from the date of renewal. The customers usually shout and complain that because they are paying today, the renewal should start from today. The support contract renewals or licensing should be renewed from the date of renewal, but Fortinet starts from the day it had expired. It is a loss for customers. They might have had some problems because of which they did not take the license one month before. Fortinet should work on this. Cisco doesn't do this. Cisco always starts from the day they apply for the license."
"Its price could be better."
"Fortinet has more device options that are affordable for small businesses than Palo Alto, and its enterprise-level models are also cheaper. Palo Alto also has a separate license for VPN connections and SD-WAN, but FortiGate offers these features standard."
"The price could be lower."
"If you know you have around 200+ computer users on your network, then the Sangfor NGAF 5200-F-I model would be the minimum recommended model for that amount of users. This model includes modules for packet filtering, deep packet inspection, malware scanning, DSCP filtration, and many other features."
"In my opinion, the price of the tool is good in the Pakistani market. We can easily get discounts if needed."
"The license of Sangfor NGAF can be purchased at different interval lengths, such as annually or three years. They offer a range of packages to choose from, such as combo or hybrid packages. We are using the complete solution package which includes IM, NGF and SSL VPN, and WAF."
"For four to five physical appliances for a licensed firewall, it costs approximately $4,000."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"It is one of the cheapest tools in the market."
"Sangfor NGAF is a cheaply priced product, especially if I consider the previous product that was used in my company."
"Sangfor is cheaper than competing vendors."
"The solution is moderately priced, where it's neither cheap nor expensive."
"The price is fair."
"The product is not expensive, but it is not cheap."
"SonicWall has authorized distributors in our country. They have about two or three distributors in the country, so it makes it a bit easier. What we do is to request a quotation from these distributors, then we do a value for money analysis and see which one of them is giving us a competitive price."
"The price of SonicWall TZ is good for medium-sized companies."
"You need to purchase multiple licenses to manage multiple devices which is cost-prohibitive for the value you would receive."
"Getting licenses in our country, Ghana, is not easy. Though, once we have them, adding them is quick (about a day)."
"License renewals come in around $35,000 to $45,000."
