Good user behavioral analysis and helpful patching but needs better support services
Some of our products have a first and second line owned by us. We are giving support services to the customers instead of the vendor. Some other products are supported directly by the technology vendor, however. Technical support from the vendor is very bad. Usually, when the customer submits a ticket, they put a severity level on the case. Whenever the case is very important, and there is a real malfunction in the product on the customer side, and there is something down that needs someone to have a look immediately, it takes more time than it should to even engage with the customer. When someone has to contact the customer and have a remote session within the customer environment, they sometimes lack in terms of communication with the customer. The support centers are located in the East and not all have an acceptable level of English in order to communicate directly with the customer.

Realtime intelligent end-to-end detection and protection from malware in a highly versatile product
From a technical perspective, I think ServerProtect is one of the best security products on the market. It is a mature product that already has most features that any product of this type has. What can be improved is that the cost is very high. So I feel that the cost should be reduced, even if it is justified. One thing that I would like to see as an additional feature is just a custom sandbox within the solution itself. So instead of having to go and use an additional sandbox for testing, you could have a custom sandbox integrated directly into the solution.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Trellix Endpoint Security is containment, which takes less than a minute."
"A big advantage of McAfee Endpoint Security is the ability to manage very big environments. We are supporting environments with 200,000 to 300,000 endpoints. The ability to manage with one single console is very important for us. McAfee has phenomenally improved in terms of detection. It provides real-time detection and response with the error, Real Protect, and reputations. It is not only based on signatures but also on behavior analytics, artificial intelligence, or machine learning. We have environments that never had issues with ransomware in the last 20 years. McAfee has a very good performance in this field."
"Trellix Security Endpoint can promptly isolate any host machines directly from the console. If alerts are received and isolation is necessary, it can be accomplished through the console. The console itself holds significant value, accessible through a browser and allowing remote actions via cloud login."
"I think the costing is fine compared to other products. Cost-wise you definitely get value for your money."
"The performance is good."
"It's easy to use."
"It provides a robust defense against cybersecurity threats while offering user-friendly features like notifications and approval prompts."
"The product is easy to use."
"Virtual Batching and the intelligent anti-malware components are valuable security tools."
"It can be managed from the cloud."
"Scalable security solution with virtualization and virtual patching functions, able to provide full security that's specific to the service, e.g. it handles virtual machines better."
"The solution allows centralized administration"
"Performance is very good."
"It helps us quickly address potential issues and provides us with valuable insights."
"The initial setup is very straightforward."
"The most valuable feature is Data Loss Prevention (DLP)."

Cons

"It can be quite complicated to learn McAfee Endpoint Security and to feel comfortable with the environment."
"The solution consumes a lot of end user memory and CPU. Trellix doesn't really focus much on the anti-malware side."
"The price of the solution is high in Asia."
"Support-wise they need to be better."
"Currently, Trellix Endpoint Security can't find the running mutexes, while other open-source products can do it."
"Trellix lacked email protection when it was a McAfee product. They added this feature during the merger with FireEye, but it hasn't been fully integrated. The core features will be integrated into the next release. FireEye has several solutions for EDR and sandboxing."
"Patch management is unavailable"
"I think it would be nice if Dynamic Application Control would come together with McAfee Endpoint Security."
"Lacking analytics and a machine learning technique."
"The solution should provide features to block devices, specific IPs or URLs"
"We found that when we push Trend Micro from the console to our client's PCs, we need to manually restart the PC. I have 500 users and the manual input is time-consuming."
"Could include additional features such as an intrusion prevention system."
"Trend Micro is a little bit complicated when it comes to setting up special policies."
"Notifications are not very good with Trend Micro."
"Integration with different platforms could be an area for improvement in Trend Micro ServerProtect, e.g. it needs more integration. It could also be more secure and more stable. In the next release, this solution should also include more EDR visibility."
"No built-in vulnerability scanner for management solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Since the maintenance is done by our own team, the price of the subscription should really be cheaper."
"For each computer that is connected to the server McAfee charges us for each computer based on our license agreement."
"Annual license fee is good"
"The tool is affordable"
"We pay 650 Rand for a license. It is a perpetual license which we normally run for two years."
"Trellix may cost around $46 to $47 for a single license without an EDR."
"It is reasonably priced."
"It is not that expensive. There is no additional cost. We got the entire bundle together."
"This product has an annual subscription, but also offers MSP options."
"In terms of price, the solution is in the middle; it's neither the cheapest nor the most expensive. I rate it three out of five for cost."
"Pricing is based on the components you choose from the suite to run in your installation. Costs vary by the number of features and the number of servers."
"Pricewise, this product is okay."
"The product is available at a reasonable price"
