It is highly cost-effective when compared to other solutions. With only one license needed, all features can be enjoyed, eliminating the need for separate licensing for individual components.
The changes in pricing have been an interesting aspect. It seems to have become pricier, resulting in a reduction in affordability. There are extra expenses involved, including hardware requirements and the procurement of operating system licenses, which must also be taken into account. I would rate the price seven out of ten.
I would give it an eight. The only problem we face is when our support expires, and we need to renew. If we're purchasing a new license, that's when difficulties arise. There are no additional costs or hidden fees. It's a straightforward pricing structure.

Compared to other enterprise solutions, Veeam Backup & Replication generally offers a competitive price point. However, there has been a noticeable and concerning increase in pricing, particularly in the year 2023. The rate of price hikes has been significant, with prices escalating three times during the first quarter of the year. This trend indicates a substantial shift in the pricing structure, which may have implications for customers and their budgeting considerations. The pricing model of Veeam Backup & Replication differs from other vendors in the industry. While many backup vendors base their pricing on the amount of storage in terabytes, Veeam opts for a server-based pricing approach. This server-based pricing has traditionally been more appealing to end customers, offering a simpler and more straightforward cost structure. However, as Veeam continues to grow and expand, it is encountering challenges in managing costs with this pricing model. From our company's perspective, the terabyte-based pricing model is more convenient and preferable. There are not any additional costs other than the standard licensing fees.
It is more cost-effective than some of the other solutions, but a lot of that comes down to the fact that we're a reseller. So, depending upon the deal, we do negotiate different price points for different customers. The price varies depending upon the size of the customer, the size of the deal, and the discounts we can negotiate.
The price of Veeam Backup Replication is reasonable. It is not inexpensive nor is it expensive, it is in the middle range compared to other solutions. There can be additional costs for addons.

Veeam Backup Replication can be quite expensive for Office 365 because its license is per user and not for the space that you use. You need one license for each user. If the user only uses a few files on one hard drive, you need a license to back up these files. It was better to have a license model, such as in the Cohesity solution. Cohesity has a license for a space that you use. It's more useful in this case because the license for backup data is on-premises is for CPU. The license is based on how many CPUs you have but it does not depend on how many users use the CPU.
We pay a yearly license for support and upgrades. I haven't researched the price of any other solutions, so I can't say whether it is expensive or cheap relative to others. It is affordable enough for me. In the past, Veeam had a host-based license, but now it will be part of Microsoft's core license. I don't like this licensing model. Host-based licensing is better for my system. Maybe so other organizations prefer the core-based.

Overall, I'm not happy with the pricing. The price could be improved. Every year, most vendors try to increase the price. It says it's being upgraded, but there's no improvement. The product stays the same, but the licensing costs are increasing.

In terms of pricing, our marketing department handles that. I don't really deal with that area. However, I can say that I would assume that the solution is competitive or else we would not be using the product. I'd advise those considering the solution to first make sure they take the vendor training and get at least one or two on the team up to speed from people that know the product. Then, use them to cross-train the rest of your staff.

The pricing varies considerably. It changes project by project. Some of our customers can get special prices from vendors. Some of them can't. There are some environments that change in terms of product support, however, for pricing, there are two models in Veeam. One of them is CPU socket licensing and one of them is Universal (instance-based) licensing. It just depends on the customer environment.

We purchase a license annually. When it comes to the cost, IBM software is significantly more expensive than the solution for our environment, although we are talking about four years ago.
The pricing is increasingly becoming more and more expensive. In 2020, it was a good price. After the last version, 10, the price has been very, very high.

The solution keeps getting more and more expensive. They should work on the pricing. Every year, they seem to raise the price by 10-15%. They used to be cheap. Now they are costly.
Veeam is quite expensive. There are no additional costs to the licensing fees. IBM Spectrum Protect is also expensive. They should improve its pricing. They raise the price every time there is an increase in the features of the product. They should think twice about that.

They have a free edition that can back up up to 10 VMs or physical servers. Small and medium businesses can use this edition until they can afford to get a license, and after they get a license, they just activate it on the same console. That's the amazing thing about it.

When it comes to pricing for a backup solution for data centers, you do not care about the price. We just care about the service and want it to be reliable. In terms of subscription, it really makes sense. When you want to use all the functionalities it is good that Veeam did the subscription-based model, this is what gives it the most strength on the price.
We pay yearly licensing fees for Veeam in our data centers where we're using disaster recovery and replication between our many solutions, especially cloud solutions. From the beginning, we've done our licensing from a separate channel through our data center team in Seattle.

It's a proper price, as it isn't an issue for what Veeam Backup & Replication is giving us. Obviously, we are paying licensing for our physical VMware environment. It also depends on how the VMware environment is on the side. We have a few very big nodes. So, we need a few licenses and maybe if people had more nodes and sockets and each node was managing less information, machine supplies could be different.
The contract we have for this solution is affordable. It's not too expensive. That said, I don't know the exact pricing. I don't handle billing or licensing at my organization.

This is an expensive product, so reducing the cost would be an improvement. The difference between IBM and Veeam Backup & Replication is insignificant. It is approximately $4,000 to $5,000 for the purchase of the product and I paid an additional $2,000 for the renewal.

I'm told that Veeam Backup and Replication is a cost-effective solution, and it's very competitive in terms of pricing. It's cheaper, and it's going to be up ahead of the competitors in terms of pricing by sockets. Compared to other vendors, they're much cheaper, and Veeam is almost everywhere now.

If you tell Veeam that you're competing with, for example, NetBackup or Backup Exec, or Dell or Micro Focus then they may lower the price. They are very competitive. My understanding is that it is a fairly small price point. They have two different models, where one is based on the sockets that you're protecting, and the other is based on instances, or servers. You can choose whichever model works best for you.
Actually, the most important criteria for us when considering a solution is service. When we are taking a decision regarding the hardware or software or any applications, then first we need to tell where and what the services they are giving us. Then we evaluate the service level element. The main important criteria when selecting a vendor are then what are the features and services available in the devices or applications. This should be our main selection path to select any hardware devices or applications. Because of our world, in the market, we can get low prices on devices or we could then see what is available. What I actually need is what I need to deploy, the features I need to be deploying in my architecture. That needs to be considered first in systems administration because the price can vary. In my personal experience, these values and features should be the first standard for selecting a device or application.

The price is great. It's software related, and I know that might be a good thing because it's a cheap solution to buy and we have been looking for a program for backup and they fit the bill. The price of Veeam and its software related products enable you to have your own hardware. You can use your own infrastructure and you can actually buy what you want. This is cost-effective. It might be that if you buy something else and they have media things it's very expensive but it works very well. If your company has pressure to actually get back data very quickly, it might not be possible with this solution. Our college environment doesn't seem to have this problem. There has not been much down time but I think if the server is broken, it just restores within an hour and everything returns back to normal.
Plan your long-term backup strategy for growth and size the solution appropriately. Veeam has a number of setup options to choose from so make sure you understand them to make the right decision. I would always suggest a multi-year agreement as this will allow for the best possible ROI of licensing.
