What needs improvement with Google Workspace?

Google Workspace lacks the ability to copy and move files from one folder to another easily. I also find it challenging to perform many operations using the context menu in Google Sheets, Google Docs, and Google Presentation. I have to go to the menu to adjust many parameters of the cells or text, which I don't have to do in Microsoft Office.

I prefer Microsoft Word over Google documents as it has more functionalities. For Google spreadsheets, certain functions available in Excel are missing, making it less efficient. Google could integrate Gemini AI with Google Workspace to enhance user experience.

It would be a lot nicer if the default Gmail came with features that we currently need add-ons for, such as tables, automatic BCC, resizing of the panel on the left-hand side, email highlighting, and configuring the display of time and date against each email. Although these add-ons work fine without issues, it would simplify the process if they were included by default.

One area of improvement for Google Workspace is the Google Meet functionality. Currently, users cannot upload files directly through Google Meet; instead, they have to share links via Google Drive, which adds unnecessary steps and complexity. This is especially frustrating when dealing with external users who do not have Google IDs. Another area requiring improvement is the chat/messaging feature, which is basic compared to other products like Slack. Having an integrated and efficient messaging system would be beneficial.

The feature set of Google Sheets is limited. Excel is much more powerful, considering it's a desktop application.

The solution could improve in a variety of ways, including: 1. If you don't have internet access then only you can access the end-to-end functionalities of the tool otherwise only limited functionalities are accessible. 2. If your storage requirements in day-to-day work are large, then it will incur an additional cost since free storage is limited. 3. You can experience challenges while Integrating it with some existing business tools. 4. Some of the features are not that effective to use as compared to the other products in the market. Google should come up with regular updates and enhanced features and functionalities.

Microsoft has Copilot. Integrating Copilot with Google Workspace is slightly difficult. I would like to see more integration with different platforms. There are some aesthetics on the AI components that we are working around.

In Google Photos, if you want to share some pictures and generate a view link to send it to somebody else, you have to go through five steps, which is absolutely silly, in my opinion. There are too many steps; this should be an easy task if you want to share five pictures with your friends.

Google needs to improve its support.

The product could improve the number of participants allowed in a meeting and the strength of the meetings. It can also improve the sending limit.

Google Workspace has limitations as a document or file management system. Without a workspace account, manual actions are required to perform tasks such as managing groups of people. Additionally, managing permissions individually is a time-consuming and inefficient process. It's difficult to articulate, but the process is not very streamlined.

There are times the plugins or extensions in the solution do not work properly and I need to disable and enable the solution. The solution is lacking documentation and it would be helpful if there was an organized guide.

From my point of view, there is a lot of room for improvement in the workspace, particularly in the cloud and premises environment. I would like to learn more about how to communicate, edit things, and use the cloud as a hosting environment for a website. I lead IT for websites in WordPress and have been using Google Workspace, but I would love to know more about how I could use Google Cloud for my purposes. Additionally, I need to figure out how to manage phones, save things, and use the software for business management.

The solution needs to be more user-friendly and improve its tools and features. Additionally, access to the specific tools inside the application is not easy to understand, so you need to go through many menus to find out what is needed for particular tasks. It's not easy in Microsoft Office because everything you see can be visualized. It's faster and simpler to use the tools, but in Google Docs, we need to work around many of them and understand how they work and the functions required for the Worksheet application.

Google Workspace does a pretty good job, so it doesn't have that much room for improvement, but what would make it even better is if its apps, for example, Gmail, could integrate with more apps, such as Evernote and specific cloud-based platforms. I know many third parties don't like working with each other, but if there's a way to integrate the solution with more apps, and it could be in one seamless system, that would be even better. In the next release of Google Workspace, I'd like it to have a predictive text or template feature, for example, in Gmail. When you're ready to craft an email, it would be great if the app automatically generates specific words, phrases, or sentences based on data pulled from prior Gmail conversations or chats. Google is doing this to an extent, but it still needs more improvement.

In general, it is not living up to expectations. It's hard to get backups and to get things restored. The initial setup is not intuitive at all. Technical support could be better.

I would rather migrate from Google to Microsoft, as I prefer Microsoft. However, it depends on the company's direction. I'm unsure of improvements, having only worked on it for a little more than a month. The features in Microsoft Outlook are way much better than in Gmail. They provide even for writing an email, for example. It's way more professional with Microsoft than with Google. Gmail needs to improve. With Microsoft, you can use it on the web version, and you can use Microsoft Outlook. Google has the web version. However, they don't have something like Microsoft Outlook in a way that seems to be as professional. I haven't explored all of the current features yet. I'm just using the features that I need. That said, I just use Microsoft instead for the things I find lacking in Google. For example, while I know Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and all of that stuff are similar to Google Sheets, I tend to use Microsoft instead since I can access and understand how to use those apps better.

G Suite is not as powerful as Microsoft Office Suite, so sometimes we have to change to Excel and PowerPoint. Google Slides and Google Sheets have a lot of room for improvement. Also, Google Data Studio is not great when compared to Power BI. Power BI is much better than Google Data Studio.

Everything is online, so you don't have a client on your desk. Working on email is online work, so can't do work offline and go back online. Sometimes it's not so intuitive. If you answer an email, it puts your answer at the bottom of the existing email. If you need to open a second mail for comparison, that's not possible. When you switch from one view to the other, you can't keep one email open that you'd like to answer and a second one that you want to review. This isn't possible in Google Mail because it's an online tool, not an on-premise tool like Microsoft mail.

They are starting their own support system. However, most of it is still knowledge-based. My engineers are more knowledgeable than the G Suite support engineer sometimes. Their support needs to be better in India. Right now, the software is pretty complete and it has a lot of features that are great. It's not lacking. The login and restriction to move are very difficult. There's a bit of a learning curve.

Improvements to G Suite would be the ability to collaborate more easily and better quality video compression in Google Meet.

Some people complain that Google Mail is inflexible. It was advanced 10 years ago, but other solutions are cleaner and clearer.

There are 120 different products and Google is ready to copy their competitors and vice versa. Some of them work, and some of them don't. There are many newer tools with no-code environments which allow for a leaner self-owned system, where I'm not tied to paying hundreds and thousands of dollars a year to another company. In the next release of G Suite Enterprise, it would be a benefit to have mapping integration. For example, receiving the location on who you're interacting with and where people are coming from. The mapping integration feature should not be an afterthought, but an active part of engagement with the people. If I send out a post to social media because emails are not a thing anymore, you're doing it through the social channel and people respond to it. "This is where I am and here's a picture of my backyard, my company is called Tiny Toronto and we build homes in backyards." This should get mapped on a map, Google's good at maps. The marketing generation between people tagging themselves on a map, you have that information accessible in that platform that you can make outreach to them. HubSpot hasn't evolved fast enough to go at that velocity. It's on hold because it doesn't have the mapping integration into something.

I think Meet is not as well-positioned as Zoom. That application needs to be enhanced to make it more feature-rich and easy to use. It's easy and has all the essential features, but it's not as popular as Zoom. And I think Google Translate could add more features. For example, it could be integrated when typing in a document or a web browser like Grammarly. I use Grammarly to review the way I write English, and the services included in Grammarly are excellent. Or translation features could be embedded in all the Google applications. It would also be helpful to use translation offline when you are using a desktop, tablet, or cellphone that can't access the web. For years, everyone has been expecting Google to add a real-time AI interpreting service where you can speak in your language, and Google translates it into other languages for other users. For example, you have a cellphone or web instant messaging integrated with free phone service. They could also use translation services to make it easier to communicate among people because not everyone knows exactly different languages. So I can speak in Spanish, and you understand me in English because you listen to me in English. And if you need to ask something because you are not clear about anything that I said, you can ask a question in your language, and I listen to you in my language. It would be an excellent service for Google. They already have a global scope and their own platform. Google has an advantage because it is at the top of the internet services. They aren't the leader in all services, but they are well-positioned as the top searching engine. Google could seize other opportunities to develop and deploy some other services we are hoping for and make things easier for everybody.

We noticed that sometimes when we forward emails to somebody, it is being relocated as part of the communication somewhere else. The traceability and other features should be improved.

We mostly needed G Suite for the data to implement the BYOD policy. We're still in the process. Once everything is implemented, my understanding is that it will work well for us, however, it's still very early in the process. Right now, we're still in the testing phase. We'll need to have more control of the data lake once we have the BYOD policy in place. We need more control in terms of DLP going forward. This solution doesn't seem to really cover that functionality. There seems to be a bit of vulnerability on some operating systems, specifically on the iPhone. There isn't as much control as if a person is using an Android. That's a bit of a concern. There may be some usability issues within the browser.

We've had difficulty using PowerPoint files in G Suite. PowerPoint has some functions that are not available in G Suite, so when you convert from PPTX to the Slides format, they don't work. Also, you might be missing some fonts or pictures too. To stay competitive, Google needs to make G Suite more compatible with PowerPoint.

The solution could improve the Google Cloud identity login to laptops that sometimes do not work. The collaboration for Google sites, they are not equivalent to others, such as Sharepoint. In an upcoming release, self-services, identity governance, and overall features could improve. Additionally, there should be a feature to allow users to connect to Password Anywhere to manage their passwords, such as password resetting. All these features are already provided by Microsoft Office 365 and they are leading in these areas.

The permission and control should be addressed. It would also be nice to have additional software, such as Microsoft Teams, since our basic edition, Google Meet, cannot record video. It would be great if we could develop our own application by our site.

When I compare with Office 365, G Suite has fewer features. The collaboration in Office 365 is more advanced and more developed than G Suite.

The administration aspect, including the UI and implementation, could be simplified and made more user friendly. I have one integration issue which is when you reply to an email, there is no option to create an event, which is something you get in Outlook. Events need to be created separately, which is unnecessary, and that's one specific point that recently caught my attention.

I'd like to see some changes; working with images inside a doc can sometimes be irritating because it doesn't move the way you'd like. It lacks an auto-fill feature and when you drag down a number, it doesn't auto-fill. Alternatively, it assumes you want to add a digit onto a value that you don't really want. Microsoft has a copy option where you don't auto-fill, Google Sheets doesn't have that feature. The solution has a complicated licensing structure and it's expensive, especially for small businesses. Their Word and Excel packages are not as powerful as Microsoft, but not everybody needs that.

It gets too slow sometimes. Google hangout is a basic application and I do not know why Google is not improving it. It is very much important for communication mainly intra-organisation conversations. 

In some cases, we are using the Google Meet functions but only when we have external clients. Internally, we are using Slack. Google Meet virtual meeting function is not as advanced as the one in Slack and should improve. There could be better integration between other platforms.

While, overall, I am satisfied with the solution, the stability could be improved, such as the issue of Google meetings being disparate from those on Zoom platforms.

I talked with G Suite recently because my G Suite has a temporary block. I communicated with the G Suite representative or Google representative, and he told me that I sent a lot of emails, so my email was temporarily blocked. But I know I have not sent more than 500 emails daily to reach the limit. I sent only 5,200 emails, but unfortunately, my G Suite account was temporarily blocked for 24 hours, and then he resolved it. I think they need to improve G Suite because this temporary block is not fair.

I am not a big fan of how Gmail organizes the mail. I find it complicated to see which mail from which users send at which date. Especially if there is a lot.

I found that there is no desktop application for this solution, and that's a major fault of this application. I think it would be good if Google can enhance the desktop application for it. Also, it's a little bit slow because it's a web application and not a desktop application. The performance is not that great as compared to Office 365.

I used Excel quite a bit. When you switch over to Google Suite, maybe due to the fact that it's a web platform, the shortcuts are not the easiest. I'm quite used to Excel shortcuts. Shortcuts on G Suite are not the best. In terms of Google Docs, if you upload a Word document up to Google Docs, it could mess up your formatting quite a bit.

The pricing of the solution could be better. Maybe they can get some special pricing for it. They have something called a Business Starter, but maybe they can look at still slightly more optimized pricing for the other companies as well. They could increase the number of third-party integrations on offer. I don't see any technical challenges or features that are lacking. More or less, they have everything we need.

In Google Meet, there is no feature for recording a meeting. It should have a feature for recording.

G Suite has improved but there's still some redundancy in the functionality between certain modules. The general Q and A's are different from the Q and A's in Google presentations and Google slides. I think the three could be unified into a single function rather than three different functions. For additional features, I'd like to see some project management area tools, workflow tools around document management, that kind of thing.

The cost could be improved. It can sometimes be a bit confusing figuring out how we are actually being charged. There should be something done about inter-productivity between cloud platforms. It is so difficult to connect two different platforms with these tools as there is not any inter-productivity or inter-operability.

They can maybe improve its graphical user interface. Google is not really known for having a PC interface. It is just a nice-to-have feature.

We use Zoom most of the time for official meetings, and we use Google Meet only for internal meetings. I would like to get an improvised Google Meet. It would be good if they can make Google Meet more clear in communication and more scalable like Zoom.

Google Meet is a very good product, but it's not up to the mark if you compare it against other products like Zoom or Microsoft Teams. These other products are running at a better quality. When we convert files from Excel into Google Sheets, many of the formulas disappear or are unworkable. For example, there are some conditional formulas that we can use in Excel, but do not work in Google Sheets.

There could be more options in Google G Suite. They can include HD calling for Google Meet. The layout portion in the calendar for Google G Suite can be better designed. When we get into the calendar and start scheduling meetings, we do have few hiccups here and there. The layout can be a little easier. People from different backgrounds are finding it a little bit tough to understand. It should be more intuitive. At the moment, it has a completely white background. To do power saving, it would be good if they can release a darker background. There are a few issues with the formatting of Google Docs when they get converted to Microsoft docs. It would be amazing if they can resolve it in the next release.

The synchronization is a bit of an issue. In Gmail and the G Suite, there is synchronization in the inbox and at times it doesn't sync the way it's supposed to. Synchronization is an issue that I would like to see resolved. Also, there are issues when you have an attachment. It may be a problem with my company or an issue with the policy of my company, but it is a universal issue. For example, if you are on your Google account and there are attachments on your calendar, then when you do the synchronization, the calendar attachment won't attach. This is a problem that occurs some of the time but not always. It would be helpful to correct this issue.

The problem with the presentation is that if you upload a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation and you convert it to Google presentation, the slides or pictures, their images are not editable. You can't edit the slides that you brought in. They're just images. That's a big defect in this. That's why we almost never use it because it converts Microsoft slides into pictures. Another thing that would be nice is to have more storage because each person has 15 gigabytes and I just hit 90% again. Then I have to go in and delete a bunch of emails and I hate losing my old emails, but I don't have any choice. That's the limitation.

Better integration without visual misrepresentation with the Microsoft suite is required. Right now, I'm paying for everything from my website and everything else under Google suite. I really like it. However, on occasion, when I have to interact, especially back and forth, and particularly on legal terms documents, there's always some formatting or structural issues between G Suite documents and Microsoft Word, for example. When you're copying files from one location to another and they say, "Oh, there are already files there. Would you like to just overwrite them? Or would you like to choose them one by one?" I would like, when I'm looking to integrate with a Microsoft user, to be able to make my selections on a selection by selection basis, and then be able to save that as a configuration for that communication between myself on G Suite and them on Microsoft Office. That would be an amazing feature.

The price could be reduced.

There are quite a few things missing in G Suite. It can create a barrier to some features so that for a particular presentation we might have to move to Microsoft PowerPoint for a presentation. Also, some years ago, the Google Sites were very customizable but now they've become a bit compact, and we don't have the same number of plugins and customizations available. Those are two issues we face. For additional features, we currently face a problem with the lack of a remote desktop option. It means that if we're collaborating, I cannot access your desktop the way it can be done with Skype or Microsoft Teams. It's a feature that's used regularly and that's important to all of us and should be something they include in the next release.

If I were to think about what could be improved for G Suite for business, if you're talking about automated processes or that kind of functionality, that would be great. If there were pre-programmable items, I think that would be very helpful for me. For instance, there's a lot of steps that I take to line up an agreement. I get a signed agreement, I scan it, it goes onto my computer (which is OneDrive), and then I need to open my email and email my administrator. That's a pretty repetitive task. If it is easier to create automated-type items or templated forms, that would be fantastic. The solution is not user-friendly and it doesn't integrate that well with Microsoft Office, which is one of the bigger business apps on the market, compared to Google Sheets and applications of that sort. There needs to be more intuitive support on offer. I want to integrate more features into my business to get more use out of the solution without having to take hours and hours of time that I just don't have. How to integrate what and where requires research. I don't want to research how to work the solution. I want it to be clear about what it is I can build out and how to do it quickly. If there was a better way to integrate the solution into all of my other devices, like my phone, I'd be happier with it. I'm using a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 device. If there was a way for all of this to be vertically integrated with Chat, Hangouts, and all the different items associated with the solution, where it would be in one place rather than all over, that would probably make it easier, and make it feel more integrated. I also do not like how Google tracks every email I send. With Google, I used to have to log in and pull it up and do everything on a webpage. I just find it much easier to work right off the desktop rather than on a web page, which is why I prefer the Microsoft Office suite.

I would ideally like to see a common space in the product where all the tools are shared within the same facility, something similar to Microsoft Teams, where all solutions are provided in one site. That would be a major improvement and an additional feature that would improve the product.

Their tool called Sheets is the counterpart to Excel but it doesn't have the same functionality that Excel would have. So usually if somebody needs to go back to Excel or Office, it's because of Excel. They should incorporate some of the formulas, the ability to pivot tables. For our finance team, anything that requires higher cap calculation or data analytics isn't as good in Sheets as it is in their counterpart tools.

The Google Slides should be able to be available in a "read-only" format, even if they are downloaded. Currently, when you share a slide, it can be edited or even downloaded and edited. We'd prefer it if there was a way to protect them from being tampered with. The user interface, especially on Google Drive, could be better.

Compared to Office 365, you lose many functionalities. For Example, G Suites cannot share contacts between users. With Office, particularly with Outlook, people are not using labels but folders. They tend to create folders in folders, and this fails the mailbox migration. When migrating, we were using iMac migration and people were using special characters in their subfolders. If you use a name with a special character like a slash in the folder, it will crash the migration, with no warning. There is no pre-warning or anything to tell you that if you use characters in a file name that it will crash the migration. There should be some kind of warning, notification, or awareness regarding bad practices. There should be a check of the account that you have to migrate that tells you if the Unicode Encoding of the subfolders is valid, and that bad names won't work. To find the webpage information regarding the migration with email servers, you have to search the website documentation to locate it. This information should be on the front page. When you migrate with Gmail, there is a lot of information with different functions of what we lost and what we will get. Office or iMaps and several other service line products are displayed as part of it. This section is large and should be in the frontline of the documentation. In the search, whenever you type migration with Gmail or G Suite, it should be on the first page. In the next release, personal contact sharing should be included. With Google, you can share documentation, presentation links, almost everything, but not contacts.

Despite being an excellent platform, I would very much like Google Docs to be more compatible with Microsoft Word.

It takes a long time to import the data from G Suite into another platform. Also, the overall price per user is too high.

I have had issues with my Google Address Book. I have an address book and it is available to everyone but I cannot add additional users. In Microsoft Outlook, I could easily share certain contacts with other members of my team but I cannot do so on G Suite. Also, 90% of the world is still using MS Outlook, so more users need to convert to the G Suite side.

I need more integration features in both Google Apps for Business and Skype for Business. There are certain office productivity features which need to be integrated in them. Also, if possible, some more useful features could be added, and the performance speed could be improved when the internet connection is slow.
