With a wide array of offerings, Alibaba Cloud facilitates businesses by providing essential services such as virtualization, storage, and effective communication between servers. It is recognized for its competitive pricing and comprehensive security features, ensuring data protection and compliance. Users appreciate its user-friendly nature and adaptability, allowing seamless integration within existing infrastructures. Despite these advantages, there are areas for improvement like SDKs, APIs for pricing, and enhancing customer service to reduce frustration caused by language barriers. The platform is perceived as less user-friendly compared to competitors such as Azure and Huawei, with concerns about design complexity, high latency, and pricing issues, especially for users outside China.
What are the key features of Alibaba Cloud? In industries such as finance, e-commerce, and technology, Alibaba Cloud is utilized for application deployment, infrastructure provisioning, and managing ECS, load balancers, and databases. Companies leverage its cloud-based VMs, storage solutions, and AI/ML workloads to transition from physical servers, support digitization efforts in regions like Africa, and offer platforms for accessing cloud services. Business operations scale efficiently, enabling data analytics and application development without managing underlying infrastructure.

We use the solution for application development and Apsara.
ECS is the most valuable feature of the solution.
The product must be made easier to use. The design is a bit tricky. When we log in to the Alibaba Cloud Marketplace and browse products, they look very small. The user experience must be improved. Alibaba Cloud must increase its partner network and brand awareness in our country. It will give our customers more opportunities to scale and save in the long run.
I have been using the solution for three years.
The tool is stable. We haven’t faced any issues or bugs. However, due to the UI design, there are some challenges during login. I rate the stability a seven out of ten. The stability has some room for improvement.
I rate the tool’s scalability an eight and a half out of ten.
The ease of deployment depends on the project.
The solution saves us money.
The product is not that expensive. It is more affordable than Google. However, customers are not that comfortable with the product’s price.
Google’s user experience is awesome. Amazon AWS has a very strong presence in my region, but the customer care is not good. Most of the developers are familiar with AWS. However, if we develop the same feature in Alibaba Cloud and Amazon AWS, it will be more expensive in AWS. Microsoft Azure is not that competitive.
We are partners and customers. The solution is going to be a leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant. I’m certified in cloud computing. Overall, I rate the tool a six and a half out of ten.

I was using Alibaba Cloud (Aliyun) for provisioning and managing GPU/CPU-based compute resources such as ECS and ACK for training and inference tasks.I have used Alibaba Cloud storage solutions, including OSS, MaxCompute and NAS for efficient data handling and access control. Apart from this used in deploying and managing AI/ML workloads.
The project requirement was specific with respect to Alibaba Cloud but it was a unique experience.
The part where the product lacks is not because of the services it offers. The support offered by the tool is ridiculous. Whenever you raise the support ticket, someone from China comes over the phone. When I used to raise a ticket for support, some person from China came along with another English-speaking person to whom I had to explain my issues, after which the English-speaking individual used to translate it into Mandarin for the person from China. The Chinese person used to explain something in Mandarin to the English-speaking person, and it used to keep happening continuously, making it a hectic support service from Alibaba Cloud. The support was time-consuming, and it was also frustrating. As a technical person, if you are someone who is expecting something to be done as soon as possible and the support services offered to you turn out to be time-consuming and frustrating, then it won't be a great experience for the users.
I have been using Alibaba Cloud for four to five months.
In terms of stability, since earlier it was not in production and considering the services and the computing power that I was using was good enough for testing, and for the purpose of UAT, I would say that for my use cases, the tool works well. At the production level, there was a need to hand over the tool to the team, so I would not say how it performed. As per my use case, it was working fine. Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven and a half to eight out of ten.
With respect to scalability, the product is good.
I rate the technical support as three and a half out of ten, considering my experience with them from two years ago. Over the course of time, the tool's technical support might have improved.
Negative
The product's initial setup phase was easy for me since I had a background in cloud products. Earlier, I had used Azure and AWS in my environment, and with such an experience, I had an advantage when it came to using Alibaba Cloud, so it didn't take me much time to realize all the things and services associated with the tool. Alibaba Cloud is similar to AWS, so it was easy to explore all its options. Having a background in cloud products can help someone explore the options provided by Alibaba Cloud. Having an AWS background can be an added advantage for those planning to use Alibaba Cloud.
Manually did all of them through documents and videos.
The product has a lot of servers in China. If you plan to deploy your code or anything on Chinese-based servers, then it would be very cheap compared to the servers provided by any other cloud service providers. In India, since the product only offers the Mumbai region, I selected it and saw that it was like AWS. The cost of Alibaba Cloud is lower than that of AWS, but I feel that its price is on the higher end of the spectrum. Alibaba Cloud charges its users a price in dollars. As the currency exchange rate goes up and down, it will impact the tool's billing part at the end of the day. In terms of price, Azure has an advantage in India because it charges its users in INR, so you don't have to look for the dollar rates. With AWS, all the billing of the services is in dollars, and it is the same with Alibaba Cloud.
It was specific requirement for deploying the resources in Alibaba Cloud only.
Though I am not sure if my company had a partnership with Alibaba Cloud, I was the one who was actually responsible for the cloud deployment.
I rate the tool a eight out of ten.

Alibaba Cloud has lower costs and good support. The solution's security or compliance features meet our company's needs.
The solution’s user interface could be improved.
I have been using Alibaba Cloud for one to two years.
We haven’t faced any issues with the solution’s stability.
I rate the solution’s stability an eight out of ten.
The solution meets our scalability requirements. Around 500 users are using the solution daily in our organization.
I rate the solution’s scalability an eight out of ten.
We previously used Huawei. We switched to Alibaba Cloud because of lower costs.
On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup an eight out of ten.
We implemented the solution through a reseller. The solution was deployed in a few weeks by two to three engineers and software developers.
We have seen a return on investment with Alibaba Cloud.
On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten.
The solution does not require much maintenance. I would recommend the solution to users residing in Malaysia because it has more coverage in Malaysia.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

We use the solution in our company to deploy our applications on the cloud. Alibaba Cloud is a platform as a service, where it provides you with and allows the customers to develop and then deploy applications using the cloud technology. So, the customer does not need to maintain or manage the underlying platform. It also lets the consumer or the user focus on core business and content delivery rather than software and the underlying IT infrastructure.
I think that sometimes the customer service for Alibaba Cloud is inefficient because our technology, the technology that we're using, is something that we acquired from China, from the core developer for Alipay. Alipay is also the core developer for the product that we have. Sometimes it's hard to reach out to them. I think that the only thing that I can say where the solution has room for improvement in cloud technology.
I have been using Alibaba Cloud since August 2021. It has been two years since I have been using the tool. My company has a partnership with Alibaba.
Based on the experience that I have had for almost two years with the product, I can say that it's a stable product. There are also times when the only problem that I encountered is when we have an integration problem with the microservice that we have together with that certain cloud technology.
It is a scalable product. So, scaling up or scaling down is possible.
In our company, almost all of us, including the developers here, use the solution.
Regarding the initial setup of Alibaba Cloud, when I started using this setup in my local environment, it was quite easy since it is the same structure as other cloud technologies that we have.
I noticed on the pricing that it's quite expensive. It is the price you pay for making a practical choice for enterprise-level companies since it has so many features and it fits an enterprise-level company just like our company right now. It is worth the money.
The technology that we have for the company is acquired from Alipay. What the company did is acquire the same technology and maintain and improve it. So, I think that's the main reason why we chose Alibaba Cloud. It's also a great technology.
I would definitely recommend the solution to those planning to use it since it's a great cloud technology that includes databases, storage, security, and functions at an enterprise level. As a beginner, you can also learn the tool easily since it's pretty straightforward.
Alibaba helps a lot in the development process. Considering my span of two years using this technology, I can say that it has been a great fit since we develop and we always deliver on time. Also, it's a very scalable platform. It's very useful. It has so many it has all of the tools or the security layers that it has. It's also very straightforward when you're a beginner who is going to use this technology.
I rate the overall solution a nine out of ten.

We're focused on the African continent and how the cloud can drive digitization. What we're doing is using the cloud platform and onboarding businesses that need to scale up in as many of their markets as possible. That's our focus, really. We've got one of the largest Greek companies in Africa onboarded on the Alibaba platform and we're hoping that many of the verticals will be onboarded as well. Our focus is not really on the traditional model. Our focus is on how Africans can leverage tech to grow their business.
The reason that we reached out to Alibaba is that we believe that they're focused on small and medium enterprises, and Africa, at this point in time, needs that kind of intervention.
We're all aware that the pandemic accelerated digital transformation, and we believe that Alibaba, due to its pedigree, has what it takes to take small businesses to the cloud. It's a game-changer, for sure.
The storage is very useful.
It is easy to set up.
Technical support is good.
It is quite stable.
It is not robust.
My experience with Alibaba is still growing, so I can't say specifically which area I would like to improve on.
The scalability could increase in the future. It is better for small and medium-sized organizations.
We're just beginning the partnership with the solution. I've used it for about three years now.
The stability is good. I'd rate it nine out of ten overall.
The scalability is good. I'd rate it eight out of ten. It's not 100% as there's never 100% in technology, however, its ability to scale is quite high.
We have about five users on the solution right now.
We'll likely increase usage in the future.
The support from the tech team at Alibaba is quite impressive.
Positive
We have had some experience with Microsoft and IBM. We've had experience with our own local cloud computing model that we try to push in the market.
We have some experience pushing other international brands for the cloud. That said, in the beginning, our interest in Alibaba Cloud was mostly due to the fact that we believe the pedigree for Alibaba is different from Microsoft and IBM as they better understand small and medium businesses.
It's very straightforward to set up. They've made it very user-friendly, so it's very adaptable.
The deployment process depends on how quickly the end user is clear about their ask. On a scale of one to 10, I'll give them nine over 10 for that.
We start with understanding the customer's needs and then understanding the needs of the customer in terms of the specifications for the ask. Once that is clear, we have a robust tech team here, and they're able to work with the Alibaba team to create the necessary instances.
It's a new project for us. We've yet to witness ROI.
I'm not aware of the licensing aspect of the solution.
We aren't updated to the latest version of the solution just yet.
The cloud computing model is the same all over the world, and there should be no biases.
The bias is that Alibaba is not robust for the customers and that the tech support is not there. They're all biases, they're not all true. From my own experience, they're a very resilient platform. I commend them and recommend them to anyone who's interested in using a cloud computing model.
I'd rate the solution nine out of ten.

The use cases for Alibaba Cloud include services for virtual machines, desk storage devices, etc., and my job is to provide the services from one integrated system, so users will not go to Alibaba but will come to my company's platform. From the platform, users can ask for many services, whether Alibaba Cloud services, AWS, or Azure.
What's good about Alibaba Cloud is its database service. It's also good in the virtual machine area. Alibaba Cloud may not be as good as AWS, but it's relatively good.
A big area for improvement in Alibaba Cloud is its support.
Another area for improvement in Alibaba Cloud is SDK-based service because sometimes, the SDKs don't work correctly. My company uses SDK to avail and provide Alibaba Cloud services, and Alibaba needs to improve on that.
Support for API-based services also needs improvement in Alibaba Cloud because, at the moment, it's not that stable.
What I'd like added to Alibaba Cloud is pricing information. For example, the data isn't available if I need pricing for some SDK-based services. You can find pricing information for a particular VM configuration, but for some database services, pricing information isn't available.
I've been working with Alibaba Cloud for two and a half years.
The stability of Alibaba Cloud is still a work in progress, specifically when adding new features to it. Sometimes adding new features causes some stability issues, though only a little.
Alibaba Cloud is a scalable service.
I'd rate technical support for Alibaba Cloud as seven out of ten because it's not that good and needs improvement.
Neutral
Setting up Alibaba Cloud isn't difficult. My company avails the Alibaba Cloud service for customers, and time-wise, the service is immediately available.
Pricing for Alibaba Cloud is a little bit cheaper. It has reasonable pricing.
I've evaluated AWS apart from Alibaba Cloud, and compared to AWS, Alibaba Cloud has poor technical support, and the SDKs and APIs aren't very stable.
On the cloud side, I'm using AWS and Alibaba Cloud, which is part of IBM Cloud.
I'm an integrator of Alibaba Cloud.
Alibaba Cloud doesn't require any specific maintenance.
My advice to anyone looking into using Alibaba Cloud is that it's cheaper, so you can try it. However, if you want more accuracy, stability, and 24/7 customer support, primarily relying on the SDKs and APIs, you should think twice. Otherwise, the cost of Alibaba Cloud is reasonable, and service-wise, it's also good because it has many available services worth trying. If you're providing 24/7 solutions to customers, you're also dependent on the Alibaba support team, so at the moment, it's not that reliable, and you should consider other solutions.
Alibaba Cloud deserves a rating of seven out of ten.

We use the solution's AI features for data analysis.
Alibaba Cloud needs to improve emails. Its pricing can also be lower.
Regarding security issues, Alibaba Cloud is more complex and better suited for developers and R&D teams. On the other hand, Google Cloud is more convenient for new users.
I am satisfied with the tool's support for trading and e-commerce.
The solution's deployment took around a week to complete.
The solution helps us to save money.
I rate Alibaba Cloud an eight out of ten.

We use the tool to install the hardware on-premise.
Alibaba Cloud provides infrastructure services. We configure the hardware specifications such as CPU, RAM, storage, and networking bandwidth according to our requirements. We don't rely on Alibaba's platform for application development or deployment; we only utilize their infrastructure services.
I have been using Alibaba Cloud for two to three years.
Support is enough and satisfactory.
Positive
I have used AWS before.
Alibaba is focused on infrastructure rather than application development. Unlike AWS, there are not as many applications directly built on Alibaba Cloud. However, Alibaba Cloud does have numerous collaborations with various application providers, such as FortiGuard, to offer a range of services similar to those available on AWS. For instance, we recently partnered with a finance company to provide the infrastructure while the application was developed.
We have our team to set up the tool. You don't need their support, but you may require assistance from their system engineers, who provide DevOps infrastructure support.
The deployment depends on the sizing but takes almost a week to complete.
Alibaba has a competitive price compared to others.
My business is in IT and system integration, and we are consultants. We have many custom models, especially for government institutions. These models are designed to fulfill various needs within these institutions, excluding military applications.
I recommend the solution.
It's crucial to set up security measures on Alibaba Cloud properly. Our team manages the security aspects, such as configuring firewalls and other protective measures. We must ensure that only legitimate traffic reaches our website hosted on Alibaba Cloud, as excessive traffic can lead to increased billing costs. Unlike AWS, where billing may vary based on usage, Alibaba Cloud offers unlimited traffic plans, which can be advantageous. However, if not managed properly, it can result in unexpectedly high bills in the case of DDoS attacks. We must implement effective DDoS protection mechanisms to safeguard our infrastructure and mitigate the risk of financial losses due to excessive billing caused by malicious traffic.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Alibaba Cloud needs to increase availability in Thailand.
I have been working with the product for two years.
I rate the tool's stability an eight out of ten.
I rate Alibaba Cloud's scalability an eight out of ten.
I rate Alibaba Cloud's deployment an eight out of ten.
I rate the tool an eight out of ten.

We used Alibaba Cloud to install the business one server. According to the contingency plan, we should have a mirror site. We had an on-premise server, and to ensure redundancy, we installed that mirror server as a backup server on Alibaba Cloud with the same instances, configuration, and users. We use TSPlus to connect the users.
Then, we had two servers, one for business, i.e., SAP HANA, and another for workstation installation using RDP, which is Microsoft-based. On the other hand, the HANA server was a Linux server, either SUSE Linux or another Linux variant. Ultimately, we had two servers in Alibaba Cloud to support our operations.
Alibaba Cloud is cheaper. So, when comparing with other service providers, consider the costings and the minimum monthly subscription, among other factors.
Alibaba Cloud has some problems related to latency and connection issues. If you go for a cloud solution provider, you will need to access the Internet, which may result in latency and bandwidth issues, leading to slowness in operations. You have minimum latency if you have a server cross-proximity with you at Office. If you have experience with Forex trading or crypto trading, they use VPN. Latency plays the biggest part. The same applies to ERP systems; if the server is close to your region, you will have minimal latency. If the server is located in China, Africa, or elsewhere, you feel high latency resulting in low performance.
My country is close to Singapore. We currently have a server from China, far away compared to Singapore. If we had a server closer to Singapore, we would experience lower latency and better overall performance.
We used Alibaba Cloud in 2021 for approximately one year. We purchased a one-year subscription, not a monthly-based one. We planned to use it after comparing it with our other service providers, like Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. Alibaba turned out to be the cheapest one.
It is a stable solution.
All the SAP users were connected to the Alibaba cloud server to test the service. We were migrating the server from another location, which required us to shut down the on-premise server, and we needed to take Alibaba Cloud support for that connection to the cloud. During that period, all the users connected to the cloud setting, and there were around 80 users.
Alibaba Cloud is cheaper than AWS, Azure and Google Cloud.
There might be some concerns because of China. I can strongly recommend considering Alibaba; if you have a requirement for a backup server or data redundancy, then no need to invest much. Alibaba Cloud is a cost-effective solution without investing too much. So, when data redundancy is your primary concern, Alibaba is the best choice.
If you have a requirement to implement an ERP system or something similar, then better to go with other services. I am not specifically recommending Alibaba for such cases. But, if the need is for backup, redundancy, or failover solutions, Alibaba is worth it.
I rate Microsoft Azure a ten out of ten, even though it is popular now. I rate Google Cloud and AWS as eight and seven, respectively, out of ten, whereas I rate Alibaba Cloud a five out of ten.
Overall, I rate the solution five out of ten.
