Supports business continuity process but needs improvement in pricing

Pros

"The product, a disk backup solution, improves our data application tasks. We used tape libraries with Dev drives in legacy architectures, resulting in slow backups compared to modern drives like NVMe and SSDs. By transitioning to NVMe and SSDs, backups have become much faster. The tool's backup restoration is faster compared to other tools. "

Cons

"The tool's pricing could be cheaper. "

Very reliable and capable of getting huge data

Pros

"As our organization functions, we have a total of 2500+ primary sites and 6300+ secondary sites. All of our entire backup systems are totally dependent on this product. EMC Data Domain is very reliable and there are no issues using it since 2015. "

Cons

"Dell EMC Data Domain needs to have better compatibility between NetWorker and the hardware. NetWorker is not as good as the other products which are currently on the market like Backup Exec."

Secure data protection with quick support response and potential for cost-efficient improvements

Pros

"It securely protects data against threats like Trojans. "

Cons

"If I were a manager for this infrastructure, I would look into load balancing for cost, maintenance after sale, and improving Dell PowerProtect DD."

Provides state-of-the-art data backup capabilities

Pros

"The solution allows us to take a huge number of backups, and the footprint is quite small."

Cons

A stable tool that offers good technical support

Pros

"It is stable. I would rate the stability of the solution a nine out of ten."

Cons

"Dell PowerProtect DD (Data Domain) is expensive. Also, it has a sort of a big physical footprint that data domains have, and that's part of the problem."

A highly reliable and scalable product that comes with a lot of storage packed into one rack

Pros

"9900 has around 1.5 petabits of capacity in a single rack, and that's huge."

Cons

"DD doesn't have Intel's air gap technology."

Helpful single management console, and beneficial reduplication and compression

Pros

"The most valuable features of Dell PowerProtect DD are reduplication and compression. It provides a lot of data savings for backups. Additionally, the Dell PowerProtect DD solution offers a bundled backup software and storage option. If desired, users can also connect to cloud technology to create an additional copy of their data in the cloud. This solution supports synchronization with various cloud vendors, including Azure and AWS."

Cons

"Dell PowerProtect DD should come out with its own system so we do not have to use Data Domain. For example, something similar to what Symantec has done."
