User-friendly and easy to set up but could be less expensive
Pros and Cons
  • "We find the product to be very scalable."
  • "We'd like to see more integration for Nutanix, Oracle, et cetera."

What is our primary use case?

Basically, we use it for backup and recovery as well for our servers. We don't use the security part, though, only the backup and disaster recovery.

How has it helped my organization?

It improved our work a lot. Instead of putting up just a recovery data center, it's just in the Acronis cloud, so it's very flexible and makes it easy to speed up the recovery VMs there as well.

What is most valuable?

The option to have disaster recovery and security in one dashboard is a pretty good aspect.

It's vendor agnostic.

The solution is pretty user-friendly.

The solution is easy to set up.

We find the product to be very scalable.

It's very stable.

What needs improvement?

I don't have any specific issues with the solution.

The product could always be cheaper.

We'd like to see more integration for Nutanix, Oracle, et cetera.

For how long have I used the solution?

We started using Acronis probably around six months ago.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's a very stable product. I would rate it nine out of ten. There are no bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is very scalable. I'd rate the ability to grow the product eight out of ten.

We have about six people on the solution currently. The IT department uses it.

How are customer service and support?

We haven't really had any issues with the solution or technical support.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We previously used Veeam. With Veeam, you need a service provider in order to get services. We wanted scalability and something on the cloud.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is fairly straightforward. I'd rate it seven out of ten in terms of ease of use.

It just took us probably two weeks to deploy everything.

Basically, we just did a backup for all our critical servers first, and then after we did a disaster recovery, the process was smooth.

I'd rate the ease of setup a 7.5 out of ten.

We need about three people to handle the deployment. One is for the network as a network engineer, one for systems, and one for computing.

What about the implementation team?

We handled the setup ourselves, in-house.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing is per endpoint, works per device, and then for per GB for storage. They could probably lessen the price, whether it's by GB, storage, or just by device.

There are no additional fees associated with the cost.

What other advice do I have?

We are a partner.

I'm not sure which version of the solution we're using. It's likely the latest version.

It's a very complete solution. However, potential users should check the features and functionality against their needs.

I'd rate the solution seven out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud

Saves money and time, easy to use for restoring data, and very stable
Pros and Cons
  • "It is easy to use. I don't need any help to figure out how to do it. It is also very easy to install and upgrade. It is very simple and easy to use for restoring. It supports universal restoration. I can restore a full machine to another hardware with this, which is a very good feature."
  • "It will be good if Acronis can provide more documentation and videos describing how to do different things. Their documentation is good, but it is without examples. They don't have lots of videos. They should put more videos on YouTube to show how to set up certain things, how to restore, and how to back up. They should provide step-by-step documentation and videos for specific scenarios. I would like them to improve the command line feature. The command line is not working smoothly, and there is some problem with it. If the command line is improved, it will take the product to the next level. It would be great if it can back up data from storage so that people are able to back up old data. Such a feature will make it an enterprise solution for a full backup."

What is our primary use case?

We use it for the backup of user machines. We have a lot of machines, and I use it daily to monitor, check, and do upgrades and make sure that everything is working properly.

How has it helped my organization?

It saves money and time. I have some machines with a very complex setup. It takes, for example, one week to set up a machine. In case the machine fails, instead of installing it again in one week, I can restore it in one hour. So, it saves time, and we don't have to bring people again to set up the machine.

What is most valuable?

It is easy to use. I don't need any help to figure out how to do it. It is also very easy to install and upgrade.

It is very simple and easy to use for restoring. It supports universal restoration. I can restore a full machine to another hardware with this, which is a very good feature.

What needs improvement?

It will be good if Acronis can provide more documentation and videos describing how to do different things.

Such a feature will make it an enterprise solution for a full backup.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for more than six years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable. If I need to restore something, it perfectly completes the mission.

How are customer service and technical support?

Their support is very good and professional. I opened a case through our management site, and they called me. They followed up through emails to ensure that everything is okay.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I didn't use any other solution.

How was the initial setup?

It is easy to deploy. I don't even need to use the documentation to do it. It does not take a lot of time. A new server takes half a day.

Its deployment is very easy with Active Directory or via the management console. You can control and monitor where it fails. It is very easy to use and understand. I just play with the interface, and it is very easy to do things.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am not the one who is paying for it, but based on what I know, it is not very expensive. It has a good price.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise others to go to the site and download it for free for 13 days and play with it. It is a very good solution that makes your life easier. The people behind this product are very smart, and they are thinking about the end-user.

I would rate Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud a nine out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Scaling it is seamless and it's stable and has an active protection feature against ransomware attacks
Pros and Cons
  • "What I like best about Acronis Backup Cloud is the active protection feature that helps you protect your workload from ransomware attacks."
  • "What's lacking in Acronis Backup Cloud is a unified dashboard or console that lets you see the backup status of all clients."

What is our primary use case?

Acronis Backup Cloud can back up your on-premise workload, such as your virtual machine and physical server. You can store your backups in-house in the cloud or local storage, for example, a file server or network-attached storage.

If you have servers in a cloud provider, such as in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, you can use Acronis Backup Cloud to back it up. You can also use the solution to protect workloads in applications such as Microsoft 365, Barracuda, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Exchange.

Acronis Backup Cloud can protect machines that run on various operating systems, such as the Windows Server, all versions, from 2008 to 2022, Linux, and Mac operating systems.

What is most valuable?

What I like best about Acronis Backup Cloud is the active protection feature that helps you protect your workload from ransomware attacks. It's a security feature that lets you combat ransomware. If you have the active protection feature enabled for your workload, you won't have to worry even if your system gets attacked by ransomware.

What needs improvement?

What's lacking in Acronis Backup Cloud is a unified dashboard or console that lets you see the backup status of all clients. Currently, each client has his dashboard for status monitoring, but I want Acronis Backup Cloud to implement a unified console or dashboard for monitoring.

Compared to Veeam Backup & Replication, Acronis Backup Cloud lacks the Hyper-V replication feature present in Veeam Backup & Replication.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have four years of experience with Acronis Backup Cloud.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Acronis Backup Cloud is quite stable because there's a new release or code every month or twice a month. The Acronis team is always on top of releasing updates to fix any vulnerability in the tool, so I find Acronis Backup Cloud stable enough.

You can upgrade from the portal to the latest Acronis Backup Cloud version. You'll receive a notification whenever there's an upgrade, and to upgrade, you can click a button.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acronis Backup Cloud is very scalable. Some of my clients started with five devices for the backups and then started increasing the number to twenty, thirty, or fifty.

Scaling Acronis Backup Cloud is seamless. Just from the portal, you can push the agent to any new device that you have, and that's it.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support for Acronis Backup Cloud is brilliant. The team is swift to respond anytime I raise a request. The support team always walks me through the steps for resolving my particular issue, so I'm giving Acronis Backup Cloud an eight out of ten, support-wise.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I worked with Veeam Backup & Replication, but I prefer Acronis Backup Cloud because you can choose the type of deployment you want. For example, you can deploy it on the cloud or on-premises because Acronis Backup Cloud has two versions. Veeam Backup & Replication, on the other hand, only has the on-premise version, so you always have to deploy it on-premises.

How was the initial setup?

Acronis Backup Cloud has a straightforward setup process. It takes about ten minutes to set it up.

Because I'm using the cloud version of the solution, I only need to ask the client what features he wants to be enabled on his account. I then enable the features, claim the email address, then do some configurations. It will then take five minutes to access the portal.

What takes a bit more time is onboarding devices to Acronis Backup Cloud. For example, if you have ten machines, you must onboard each machine to the solution.

What other advice do I have?

I'm still using Acronis Backup Cloud. I'm using the latest version of the solution.

I'm a partner of Acronis Backup Cloud.

I'm in charge of maintaining the solution on behalf of my clients. The maintenance overhead is not that much. My colleague and I can handle the maintenance of Acronis Backup Cloud.

I advise anyone looking into using the solution to do the extra trial because you can get more than one trial for Acronis Backup Cloud. Do the trial and experiment, and check if the solution works for you and your environment.

My rating for Acronis Backup Cloud is eight out of ten.

Highly scalable, amazing features, stable and can be used from anywhere
Pros and Cons
  • "I would recommend this solution. It's easy and fast, you don't need to be on-premises you can use it from anywhere."
  • "There could be some changes done to the action page to simplify it."

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to backup servers.

What is most valuable?

There are many features I like such as the ability to run favourite scans multiply times a day. If the solution finds any malware, for example, it will do the actions automatically. This limits the amount of action a user needs to do.

It is amazing how many ways you can do the recovery, you can recover by image, ISO, and files.

You can create a new VM, via the cloud, using the same image backup and network settings, that is very easy to configure

The Business Continuity Plan is all in one and easy to use, unlike competitors that require you to know more detail going forward. It is much more user-friendly.

What needs improvement?

There could be some changes done to the action page to simplify it. For example, when you want to do any actions with VM there could be more informative on the actions being done. Currently, there are just icons with no description of what the option does. The last improvement I would like to see is more information on the stages you are currently on and continually as you go through the process.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the solution for two months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I am new to the solution but I did some testings and It was very smooth. The new dashboard I created was working fine. There were no problems with stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

You can have hundreds of machines running no problems, the scalability is very good.

How are customer service and technical support?

I called technical support once or twice, I did not speak to them very much but they responded right away.

How was the initial setup?

Everything was straightforward in setting up the solution, it took approximately 10 minutes. With some of the other competitors, the process could take a week.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

With the price, there is a certain limitation on terabytes but no limits on how many servers or how many services you can run.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I tested Uni-Trends and Acronis at the same time and I went with Acronis because it impressed me.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution. It's easy and fast, you don't need to be on-premises you can use it from anywhere. You can backup whatever you want, anything from your mobile phone to your OneDrive.

Based on my limited two months of experience with the product, the solution is perfect for me.

I rate Acronis Backup Cloud a ten out of ten.

Centralized device management, automatic backup schedule, and good technical support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable features are the automated backup, and that you are able to manage all of your devices centrally."
  • "I would like to have support for agentless backup, where you don't have to install an agent on the host."

What is our primary use case?

I am a managed service provider and we provide this solution to small and medium-sized companies for backing up their data.

The client will have local backup copies on their premises, and a backup copy of that in the cloud. At times, the clients will back up their data directly to the cloud from their end devices. The small companies prefer to do this without having a local installation of Acronis.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are the automated backup, and that you are able to manage all of your devices centrally. You are able to create a different account for the different clients so that everyone is backing up on the same server in their own environment.

What needs improvement?

I would like to have support for agentless backup, where you don't have to install an agent on the host.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been selling Acronis Backup Cloud for six months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is good because there are no limits as to the number of agents you can have backing up data. Our clients are small and medium-sized companies with an average of 40 users.

How are customer service and technical support?

Technical support is good. They are quite responsive and they are able to guide you when you have any technical issues.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

Prior to Acronis, I used to use Cobian Backup. It had a final release several years ago.

Cobian did not have a lot of features. For example, it didn't have those related to cloud-based backups or knowledge of federated accounts.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex. I would say that it is quite easy and simple to do.

If you are setting up a cloud backup then the clients can be backing up their data within minutes, or perhaps within an hour. The speed at which the initial backup completes is dependent on the bandwidth that they have available, but in terms of getting it up and running, it can be done within an hour.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Private Cloud

Easy to manage, helpful support, and suitable for small to medium sized businesses
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Acronis Backup Cloud is the ease of management."
  • "Acronis Backup Cloud can improve by having fewer updates and patches to the solution. Additionally, should improve the functions that already exist in the solution rather than add new ones."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Acronis Backup Cloud is the ease of management.

What needs improvement?

Acronis Backup Cloud can improve by having fewer updates and patches to the solution. Additionally, should improve the functions that already exist in the solution rather than add new ones.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Acronis Backup Cloud for approximately three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability of Acronis Backup Cloud is good.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Acronis Backup Cloud is easy to scale.

We have approximately 15 users using this solution. However, we have more than 100 users including our customers.

Our main customers are small to medium companies.

How are customer service and support?

The support from Acronis Backup Cloud is helpful.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Acronis Backup Cloud is simple.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The cost of Acronis Backup Cloud is good. They have several licensing models that customers can choose from.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Acronis Backup Cloud to others.

I rate Acronis Backup Cloud an eight out of ten.

User-friendly with good reporting and good dashboards
Pros and Cons
  • "The product offers very easy configuration capabilities."
  • "The technical support could be improved. When you create a ticket, the responsiveness you'd expect is lacking."

What is our primary use case?

Currently, we're using it to backup all the workforce data from the laptops and devices. The data is taken to the server for backup purposes.

What is most valuable?

The solution is very easy to use. It's user-friendly.

The product offers very easy configuration capabilities.

It does what it's supposed to do. We needed a simple backup, and nothing too complex. If we need to recover data, we can recover it quickly. This is a very simple setup that works well for our purposes.

The reporting on the product has been good.

We've found the documentation very helpful.

The initial setup is very simple. It's one of the key reasons we chose the product.

The pricing of the solution is reasonable. We're quite happy with it.

We've been happy with the customization potential of the product.

The solution has good dashboards.

What needs improvement?

The technical support could be improved. When you create a ticket, the responsiveness you would expect is lacking.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using the solution for nearly two years at this point. It's been a while.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The product is quite stable. In the two years we have used it, we haven't felt the need to really move to a different solution as it seems to be stable. There aren't bugs or glitches. It doesn't crash or freeze. It's great.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution scales well enough. The background is fast. They are using AWS as a background, and AWS scales beautifully as most of us know. With the AWS foundations, a company can scale the solution quite well.

We have about 70 people on the solution currently.

How are customer service and technical support?

I can't say that we are too satisfied with technical support. When you open a ticket, it takes too long to get a response. The response times overall are quite lengthy.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is not complex at all. It's very straightforward. This is a very simple solution to set up.

I don't remember exactly how long the deployment took, however, I recall the process being relatively quick.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We pay monthly under a subscription model. We're quite happy with the pricing. It's not overly expensive.

You don't have to pay for anything other than the license. However, they do have another version that offers a few more security features. It's an incremental change in price. Some of our staff are using it as they have very flexible licensing models in general.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We evaluated Druva before choosing this product. We chose Acronis due to the fact that we needed a simple product that could back up and give recovery to the cloud. Also, Druval was a bit pricier in comparison to Acronis.

What other advice do I have?

We are just a customer and end-usser. We don't have a relationship with Acronis beyond that.

The solution is SaaS-based. That means, there's auto-updating happening, which means we are always on the latest version of the solution.

I would recommend the solution.

I'd advise new users to look at which version of the product they really need. No one should go in blindly as they have different versions according to size. One is their basic level, one is the advanced security, et cetera. If a company chooses correctly, then they'll be happy with the product later on and not feel the need to fill in requirements.

I'd rate the solution nine out of ten. We are quite happy with it overall.

The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service
Pros and Cons
  • "I do not need to touch my firewall, especially when it is managed by the provider and takes ages to do a single NAT."
  • "The agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service."
  • "The logs could be better. Logs through the website are just too simple and basic."
  • "For you to actually see the full logs, you have to use additional tools or even contact support so they can pull them with own tools."

What is our primary use case?

Basically running backup plans for servers (daily basis), workstations (managers) and Office 365 (inbox).

How has it helped my organization?

I am from Perú, and IT departments are not very advanced here. Basically, it is way better than whatever we are used to using, tapes, etc.

What is most valuable?

I would say compression, which was about 95% on the databases. The fact that the agent, which is installed on the system, can do Quality of Service. Therefore, I do not need to touch my firewall, especially when it is managed by the provider and takes ages to do a single NAT. I would only imagine how long will it take for them to do a QoS rule.

What needs improvement?

The logs could be better. Logs through the website are just too simple and basic.

For you to actually see the full logs, you have to use additional tools or even contact support so they can pull them with own tools.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Probably the connectivity between the agent to the cloud console, because for some reason, sometimes I need to refresh.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

No issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

It is good. Basically, they can do the whole deployment, you just need to provide them remote access.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I personally have used corporate solutions, such as Dropbox, Veritas, and Veeam. Veeam is good as well.

How was the initial setup?

The only complicated part was talking to my FortiGate provider to allow the ports.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I have been using pay as you go with Acronis, so the price is good.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I personally evaluated Dropbox, Veritas, and Veeam. Veeam is good as well.

What other advice do I have?

Make sure to set the download for the right client. Acronis has multiples, especially for the SQL.
