Diverse features and affordability drive effective resource management
Amazon EBS offers diverse features. It can be used for multi-purpose storage, supporting single, multiple, or heavy loads. It has different types for various use cases, allowing me to choose based on my specific requirements. The primary advantage of Amazon EBS is affordability compared to other solutions like EFS or FSX. It acts as a hard drive for servers, making it essential for operation.

Offers great reliability to users
Protection is an area in the product where improvements are required. If big companies want to use the tool for protection purposes, like security, which is a big thing people are looking for nowadays. Sometimes, the tool's user interface automatically puts all the files in a different place, making it a bit difficult to go deep and figure out in which folder a file is present. I need to search for a file and drill down to be able to find it. There are a few bugs in the tool, as with all content management tools, since the solution is usually used to deal with huge amounts of content. If the flow of the documents is huge, the tool might get slow for the end users, or when the data is being migrated or imported into the tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"EBS is a very crucial tool as it acts like a hard disk on cloud, providing cost savings compared to physical hard disks, and only incurring costs based on actual usage."
"With Amazon EBS, if you want to add an additional disk to an EC2 instance, you can simply attach an EBS volume by clicking through a few options, and it's done."
"The product’s most valuable feature is IOPS."
"EBS is a cost-effective solution, where I pay as I go, making it a favorable option."
"The tool has different types of volumes, like SSD and HDD."
"The durability and snapshot capabilities are good."
"The most valuable features of Amazon EBS are the ease of mounting any file system and good for block storage. We can use secondary storage for our difficult instances and it performs well."
"The platform is stable and can be replicated across different availability zones and data centers."
"Google Cloud Storage is highly reliable."
"The solution is stable and has good performance."
"Google Cloud Storage's most valuable feature is the native algorithms are available. Some of the algorithms are not available for the use cases that we had in Microsoft Azure. We didn't find any native algorithms and that's the reason why we decided to use the machine learning algorithms in GCP."
"Google Cloud Storage is easy to use, and it's free. I also enjoy the speed I am able to share with family across the globe. The storage is synced."
"We are mostly doing telephony and generic web services in the telephony."
"Google Cloud Storage includes Docs, calendar, Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Meet."
"You do not need to install anything."
"Google Cloud Storage is fast, and it's scalable."

Cons

"It is hard to access EBS volumes in different Availability Zones (AZs) because most EBS volumes are created in a single AZ."
"Amazon EBS is scalable, but not auto-scaling. I have to manually scale it, especially in Windows instances, which requires downtime."
"The initial setup process is easy."
"Having more flexibility in resizing, especially scaling down, would be beneficial."
"I think performance can be improved."
"Amazon EBS could improve by offering immutability of the data."
"I would like EBS to have no limitations, similar to stream-like block storage, which can accommodate an unlimited amount of sales."
"I do not have anything in mind for improvement at the moment."
"It was a little more complicated when compared to Apple."
"While the solution seems to be secure, I worry that, with the cloud, there is a chance of hacking. It would be ideal if they could be more transparent about the processes they go through to keep our data secure in the cloud and on their systems."
"There are inefficiencies with cache when the names are sequencing."
"The storage could be improved to manage it a bit better. Google Cloud Storage could be more secure, but the security features are okay."
"It would be helpful to offer more packages to increase the storage."
"I do not find any areas needing improvement currently."
"They need more enhancements in the security features."
"Google Cloud Storage could improve by having better integration with Microsoft Office files. When I open a Google document I would like it to be able to be opened with Microsoft. You can already open Google documents in Microsoft Office."
