Diverse features and affordability drive effective resource management
Amazon EBS offers diverse features. It can be used for multi-purpose storage, supporting single, multiple, or heavy loads. It has different types for various use cases, allowing me to choose based on my specific requirements. The primary advantage of Amazon EBS is affordability compared to other solutions like EFS or FSX. It acts as a hard drive for servers, making it essential for operation.

Offers great reliability to users
Protection is an area in the product where improvements are required. If big companies want to use the tool for protection purposes, like security, which is a big thing people are looking for nowadays. Sometimes, the tool's user interface automatically puts all the files in a different place, making it a bit difficult to go deep and figure out in which folder a file is present. I need to search for a file and drill down to be able to find it. There are a few bugs in the tool, as with all content management tools, since the solution is usually used to deal with huge amounts of content. If the flow of the documents is huge, the tool might get slow for the end users, or when the data is being migrated or imported into the tools.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that during the deployment, the tool indirectly provides our company with resources for our core side and cloud-based resources."
"I find it valuable for applications requiring high throughput or IOPS and mention its stability and performance as significant factors."
"The durability and snapshot capabilities are good."
"When I have to change the operating system or delete a host, I can store the data in EBS or assign it to another host."
"Amazon EBS is perfectly serving its purpose, and I absolutely recommend it to others."
"The solution provides big space that is reasonably priced."
"The most impressive aspects of Amazon EBS are its scalability and high availability."
"The most important feature is the volume types in those hundred EDS. For example, if you need a volume with high IOPS, you should choose an io2 or io2 Block Express volume type. The default volume type for EBS is GP3, which is a good balance of performance and price for most workloads."
"The combination of Firebase features, including storage, the Firebase database, and authentication, has been the most valuable. Firebase offers Google authentication, which is convenient for our needs. Additionally, Firebase provides email authentication and Gmail authentication, which are easy to set up and integrate into our applications."
"Using this solution has improved the security of our data."
"Google Cloud Storage is fast, and it's scalable."
"Google Cloud Storage performs well and it's easy to use."
"The most valuable feature of Google Cloud Storage is its ease of use. It fits well with our business use."
"It is stable and scalable."
"The feature we've found most valuable is the ability to access our data anywhere, anytime."
"The most valuable feature of the solution is reliability."

Cons

"It is hard to access EBS volumes in different Availability Zones (AZs) because most EBS volumes are created in a single AZ."
"I see a need for improvement in the scalability of Amazon EBS. If I need something more scalable, I rely on another storage solution like S3."
"There is a lack of awareness and knowledge about Amazon EBS among potential users, which results in underutilization."
"I am still in the learning process regarding Amazon EBS, so I'm not entirely sure what specific improvements are needed."
"There is a concept called Snapshot, which is a backup of the entire EBS volume, however, the cost is quite high."
"The main challenge with Amazon EBS is cost management, as it is a high-performance volume. Sequencing and IOPS relative to cost are also areas of concern."
"Having more flexibility in resizing, especially scaling down, would be beneficial."
"Amazon EBS could improve by offering immutability of the data."
"In the next release, if improvements are made to the GPU instances for machine learning, for example, it would be helpful."
"The solution only allows so much space for free."
"I would like more storage available."
"I'd like the solution to integrate better with other clouds, including the Apple cloud."
"The storage could be improved to manage it a bit better. Google Cloud Storage could be more secure, but the security features are okay."
"It is stable, but it can always be more stable."
"Here in the Philippines, we don't have direct support from Google. We have self-studied to learn the services."
"I don't find the solution very user-friendly."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is quite costly."
"The cost can vary greatly depending on the use case, ranging from one dollar to over $1200 dollars per month."
"The pricing models may be for general purposes, such as Amazon EBS Provisioned IOPS Volume or Amazon EBS Cold HDD Volumes."
"I find the price reasonable for our I environment."
"The solution is reasonably priced."
"What I want Amazon to do is lower the price."
"You need to pay additional costs for support."
"It is a cost-effective solution."
"I just use the free storage that comes with Gmail. I have 15 gigabytes."
"The solution is free unless you want to increase the GB data allowance. There is a cost if you want to increase the size of storage space which is expensive."
"My company is paying a yearly subscription for the licensing of the solution. It is an expensive solution."
"I pay a yearly subscription fee."
"They know that the pricing is comparable with Azure, AWS, and those other solutions like Amazon are cheaper, but they are not as flexible."
"The tool is not expensive."
"There are no licensing fees."
"If you're ready to pay, they're ready to give you as much storage as you want. Considering the features that Google Cloud Storage provides, the pricing is reasonable. So far, I'm still using the free service from them because I'm able to meet my requirements with the free subscription. Maybe, in the future, if a storage requirement comes, I'll pay for it or go for the license."
