Provides high visibility and control with good traffic monitoring
Analytics is one of the areas needing enhancement, specifically more visibility and control over traffic to improve capacity management and high availability. The replication process between Master and Slave for disaster recovery takes too long. Dependencies on analytics impact the performance of the user interface, which should be separate. The complex setup process on-premises, especially with multi-node installations, could also be improved. Additional control in product declarations, based on operations like POST and GET, is needed.

Valuable testing stubs and policy enforcement with room for better security and cost management
From an API management perspective, MuleSoft's API Manager is not as powerful as some other tools available. Features like monetization and advanced security, which are present in Apigee, are missing. I also want the API Manager to be used as a separate product apart from MuleSoft's other integration solutions. Additionally, the licensing cost is high, and many clients are looking to switch due to this.

Fastest to get up and running and fewer idiosyncrasies than competitors
In terms of our usage, the main area of concern is that they tend to build enhancements slightly ahead of the considerations for what those enhancements and extensions are. So it could be slightly better communication with the customer base that would be my main issue with them. But as a product, it's very difficult to find any major faults.

Cons

"Sometimes there are glitches, which means there's still room for improvement in the platform."
"It needs predictive analysis of consumption."
"Google isn't enthusiastic about supporting older versions. Google is now trying to move all of its clients to X within the cloud."
"Proxy versioning seems a bit confusing/buried in the publishing experience, especially for the URI-based versioning approach."
"Unlike WSA, Apigee does not have a partnership model, something which makes it a bit easier for companies such as ours to go with the former solution."
"Apigee's product cost is quite high compared to other products. Customers think that going with Google ensures quick resolution of security or performance issues."
"GCP is improving the regular version control. There have been some challenges when we talk about the hybrid deployment model. For example, some runtime services' data was available only on the cloud, but financial institutions and other customers have requested more on-site data storage. This is especially important in regions where Google data centers are unavailable, such as certain areas in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East."
"When there is an update on a new version or an automatic update, you have to be present and double-check that the update is reflected in the environment with no issues."
"I would like to see more automation. Operations are done manually. It should also automate in the operation."
"I'd suggest more control over MQ restarts and greater transparency in traffic management."
"The cost for using MuleSoft is approximately $500,000 USD per year. It includes various subscriptions like the signature success plan and platinum subscriptions, making it a costly infrastructure."
"The initial setup, if you go back three or three and a half years, definitely, for us, was complex."
"The API gateway and API runtime are too heavy, which means that it is not suitable for microservices."
"With respect to the live help, I have language issues because I can't understand some of the things that I hear."
"I am not entirely satisfied with the support from MuleSoft. They can be slow in addressing security vulnerabilities, and transitioning versions is often their solution, with limited support windows causing difficulties in management decisions."
"The solution is expensive."
"I would like to see some additional features like having some extensions for .NET core because we use it for our back-end language."
"In terms of our usage, the main area of concern is that they tend to build enhancements slightly ahead of the considerations for what those enhancements and extensions are. So it could be slightly better communication with the customer base that would be my main issue with them."
"Sometimes when new features are released, they are not immediately stable."
"It is a young product and does not have the kind of brand recognition that would make it a more popular solution with our clients."
"We would like a better tool for generating documentation for the APIs to be developed."
"We ran it for a while, but then we decided to move away from Tyk, because Tyk's cloud version, the SaaS version, has a significant limitation of limited flexibility, so you can't program very much."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pricing options need to be chosen on a case-by-case basis."
"Apigee is a pretty expensive solution."

"We have a contract for three years. I don't know the cost."
"The current version of Apigee is not too expensive, but we are currently in talks with Google to understand their roadmap for Apigee X. However, we anticipate that with the introduction of Apigee X, the pricing will likely increase."

"The price of Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager is very high."

"When it comes to determining price, the pre-sales team interacts with the customer's primary integration team and the price is negotiated based on the specific usage of the system."
"I want MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager to be cheaper because when you scale up, it becomes very costly. Price-wise, I'd give it a seven out of ten."
"The product's main drawback is its cost. It's expensive for our company, and their recent change in pricing strategy last year complicated things further. That's the only thing we're not happy with."
"The product is expensive."
"MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is an expensive solution."
"We are using the open-source version of this product, so there are no licensing costs for its use."
