We performed a comparison between Azure Monitor and BMC TrueSight Operations Management based on real PeerSpot user reviews in five categories. After reading all of the collected data, you can find our conclusion below.
Comparison Results: Azure Monitor is the preferred option due to its ease of setup, low-cost pricing, and integration with other Microsoft technologies. It also provides a more convenient and efficient solution for developers by offering a one-stop place to monitor all cloud resources across multiple subscriptions in one dashboard. BMC TrueSight Operations Management has valuable features, but needs improvement in areas such as cloud monitoring, reporting dashboards, and pricing.
"One of the most useful aspects of this solution is the out-of-the-box functionality on all areas, especially on Application Insights, zero instrumentation, and artificial intelligence for event correlation."
"Among the valuable features of this solution, Application Insights stands out as one of the most significant. It provides insights into application performance and helps identify issues and bottlenecks."
"It has good troubleshooting features."
"Provides an overview and high-level information."
"The most valuable feature is the universality of their functionalities in all Azure services, including, software solutions."
"Good load and metrics gathering and very good analysis."
"The dashboard allows us to easily track various metrics and quickly understand the overall health of our system."
"Log analytics and log queries are the most valuable features of Azure Monitor."
"The ability to pull hosts together to show what processes are running, so it can be used for change management."
"I like everything about this tool. I recommend this solution to anyone looking for a standalone solution with high availability meaning that can be used depending on the customers requirements."
"The most valuable features of BMC TrueSight Operations Management are the blackouts and event management."
"I like the event management part."
"The ability of this platform to monitor the very diverse assets that we maintain around the world is its most valuable feature... We support a vast array of manufacturers' equipment, like HP, IBM, Cisco, Dell, EMC, Hitachi... We can do it all with [this] one [solution]."
"From an administrative standpoint, what stands out in TrueSight is the ability to implement quickly. When they have a requirement to monitor something, we're able to turn that on quickly in their environment. We're able to set up new apps within a day."
"TSOM's ability to consolidate alerts into a single location and provide filtering of alerts is great."
"The solution provides visibility to our infrastructure, how it is, the resources we are monitoring, and quick updates when it has any problems. We have integrated it with ServiceNow to open instances."
"The troubleshooting logs need improvement. There should be some improvement there. I have a hard time finding the right logs at the right times whenever there is an issue occurring."
"The biggest one is probably just the user interface. There could be more advanced logging at the database level. They can also improve their query builder to allow you to search for things better, but I last used it about a year ago. They might have already changed a ton of things in the newer versions."
"Lacks information including details related to where problems lie."
"In my opinion, they should improve the overall user experience, especially when it comes to indexing and searching collective logs."
"The price could be lower but it is not a must."
"I would like more transparency when we use the solution with another environment, like on-premises, or on another cloud environment, like AWS or GCP."
"I'd like the solution to do more around vulnerability assessment. It's lacking in the product right now."
"This solution has fewer features than some of its competitors, so adding more features to it would make it better."
"The solution could improve its price."
"The graphs are extremely limited. We don't have a lot of dashboard options. To make reports and dashboards more useful, we usually need to integrate some dashboard solutions."
"Deployment requires lots of resources (servers). It has too many consoles."
"BMC's solutions for cloud monitoring (monitoring of AWS and Azure resources) are very poor in stability and customization."
"More modules for less popular applications and better documentation."
"I think the ease of deployment needs to be looked at. It would be great if the deployment was faster and easier."
"One of the things that the TrueSight environment is missing is some of the HA abilities. The data collection server called the ISM doesn't really have the HA functionality or workload balancing. It was missing from the previous product as well. It's missing redundancy."
"The one piece that I would love to see is a general-purpose, configurable agent which would be a framework that you can deploy on anything, whether it be Java or anything else. It would allow you to easily deploy it on a platform that they support."
