Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Offers third-party patching feature, good scalability, and enhance endpoint management capabilities
From the perspective of the team that's handling the environment, it's not so user-friendly compared to other solutions, the competitors. We hire new teams from time to time, and they are complaining, look, although BigFix is very robust and cross-platform, it's not so fun to work with. The user interface for the technical teams is not so advanced. It's not so intuitive compared to SCCM, compared to ManageEngine. And this is the fact that they have, with the teams, because they have the rejection. The look and feel of the system are old-fashioned. For new employees, it's less easy to find someone I don't need to educate on how to work with BigFix. Although it's easy, it's not as intuitive as the other solutions, and the functionality of the other solutions is less advanced. Let's summarize: The user interface has to be changed from the perspective of the teams that are managing the product. It's old school.

Ensures consistency and security in deployments while adapting to resource availability
The most valuable feature is predictability. When I need to put something, it is repeatable. I can deploy it in one environment, change the parameter, and it will work in another. If changes are needed, I track who did what because my Terraform scripts are version-controlled. This reduces guesswork and trial and error from the UI, replacing it with code, which enhances maintainability. In cloud environments, manual configurations can be forgotten or misunderstood if the original person leaves, but Terraform ensures documentation and consistent configurations.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"EAM is a godsend."
"Everything has worked better since we started using Intune."
"The dashboards, the security, and the customization capabilities work very well for us."
"The reporting and analytics features in Microsoft Intune have been a lifesaver."
"The automatic patching is the most valuable feature of Intune."
"Intune's compliance features are valuable because they allow immediate visibility into ongoing situations."
"The ability to block and erase remote devices is valuable to us, especially when those devices are lost."
"I can reach devices or computers over the internet. I don't need to worry about the network connectivity between the offices. I can manage any device. That is the most important part."
"I would advise someone considering this product to go for it. It's easy to use, cheaper than the value, and there is tons and tons of support from the BigFix community. With almost every challenge we have someone who has encountered it, and you will have a solution right away."
"Having higher visibility on patching level, on patching successful, and non-successful has been a way that BigFix has improved my organization. Also, the ability to customize the content to do what we need it to do is very powerful and very flexible for us. Finally, in the area of custom interfaces like REST API really gives us the ability to provide for our external customers."
"BigFix technical support is good."
"It allows for visibility into the OT, the industrial environments, that didn't exist before which is a big piece and has benefited my organization. Second, the speed at which people can patch is night and day versus SCCM scan or another similar solution."
"Desktop patching is the most valuable feature, because with servers, we have complete control over them, and we can simply push patches to the servers."
"Patch Management for a variety of operating systems makes it valuable as we can rely on a single tool for obtaining patch compliance of the entire compute infrastructure."
"I think BigFix is a very good solution, and I rate it ten out of ten."
"Almost every feature is wonderful in BigFix. It is very stable, and we can rely on it. It is an awesome tool."
"The solution allows us to work faster with ease and to set up new environments and workspaces."
"The environment is very good. That's awesome."
"We save a lot of time with this solution."
"This solution makes it easier to manage a multi-cloud environment and have your entire infrastructure as code."
"This solution is a fast and secure way to provision infrastructure."
"The concept of infrastructure as code is quite intriguing. We have an infrastructure in our code and a state file where we can verify whether something is changed when it was changed, and who changed it. When we use Terraform, these kinds of things fascinate us."
"Can be used across multiple cloud providers and multiple platforms."
"Terraform is that it is an open-source tool that gives us great flexibility. Using the Terraform HCL, we are not restricted to a single cloud provider. If my client asks me to deploy the same infrastructure on Azure or GCP, I can use the same code with minor modifications to account for the different providers. This means we are not limited to a specific cloud."

Cons

"Microsoft Intune needs to improve the initial login process."
"China blocks Google and Google Play Store, which makes installation challenging. Microsoft Intune is a company software, which has to be installed to the app portal or Microsoft Software Center."
"Improvements can be made by allowing server integrations since it is an area where the product currently has shortcomings."
"A major challenge is making all the products work within device management solutions like Intune. It would be beneficial if Microsoft removed support for older products much earlier in the process."
"What would make this product better is adding more security policies and features in the next upgrade."
"In an upcoming release, I would like to see some kind of analytics report."
"The solution could improve its flexibility."
"The reports aren't complete, and it's not easy to build custom reports. For example, Windows Autopilot isn't working well in cases where the computers don't have a good internet connection. Then the option is not good enough."
"I would like to see much better web reporting because as it is now, it's convoluted, basic, it's not modern, and there are limitations to it."
"The product lacks AI, ML, and IIT."
"The reporting structure could be a little more simplistic. Currently, it throws too many vulnerabilities. Some of them are not needed because they are only informational and limitations, and they are not of much help. It doesn't need to show us these things."
"The sub-capacity licensing was a challenge for some of it. We had trouble getting it to calculate right."
"In-place and OS upgrades can be improved."
"I want to see a solution for being able to deploy automated software to a Mac running OS X 10.13, something that's going to deal with kernel exceptions and answering prompts for user permissions for data folders and whatnot. They need to really streamline and automate the Mac software deployment."
"I would like to see SDK for Web UI included in the next release."
"The stability is generally pretty good. The one thing that we came across is the battle between load on endpoints and load on our servers and relays versus how quickly, effectively and reliably actions can be taken. I'd like to not have to take an action on a system while I'm working with someone and then have to say whether something will happen between five seconds or thirty minutes from that point."
"Terraform should monitor the backend storage more closely. You can handle it within Azure, but HashiCorp should release a dedicated tool to protect those secrets and ensure they're fully encrypted."
"There are potential improvements in the backend stability of HashiCorp Terraform."
"I initially found the initial HashiCorp Terraform difficult to comprehend. It's complex and not straightforward, requiring proper training to grasp it. Even someone with a background in networking or cybersecurity would need guidance from someone knowledgeable."
"With cloud providers always adding new resource types, there are certain resources that Terraform does not support. It would be great if it could support those resources as well."
"It would be nice if they could put our infrastructure on graphics or at least provide a map of our infrastructure."
"There is always room for improvement somewhere. I don't know everything about the product."
"The product must improve DevOps features."
"The solution is complex when we use it for a loop. This is a problem, not because of the language itself, but because of how the infrastructure generally works. It's different from Python."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Microsoft Intune is moderately priced. There is a monthly license required to use the solution and it is approximately eight dollars per month."
"The clients pay for a license and each can have a different type of license, such as an E3 or E5."
"The Intune license model is costly."
"Intune is cost-effective as it is included in some of the Office 365 packages."
"The price could be better."
"The product is relatively pricey, but considering its benefits, I'd say it's fair. The benefits outweigh the expensive licensing fees, especially for large organizations, but medium-sized and smaller businesses may be unable to afford it."
"The pricing for Microsoft Intune is reasonable. Our clients are satisfied."
"Microsoft Intune is expensive."
"The price is reasonable, but our customers find it expensive."
"You are charged per server and per workstation when using BigFix. ManageEngine is a lot cheaper than BigFix. There are some additional costs, such as support."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing one out of ten."
"We have a subscription-based contract with BigFix."
"Compliance, inventory, and licensing are really pricey. They should lower the price. It discourages users from getting onboard."
"The price of the solution is high. There are not any additional fees from the standard license."
"I would stay with the Managed Virtual Server license model, which is a 1-to-1 license per OS whether it is virtual or physical."
"The price of BigFix is better than the solutions. You are able to pay monthly or annually. There are not any hidden costs with BigFix. There is an additional cost for the SQL database."
"The setup for Terraform is quite easy and currently, we are using their community version along with Jenkins."
"HashiCorp Terraform is a free solution."
"The product can be cost-effective, especially if you use the CLI and do not require the cloud solutions provided by HashiCorp."
"It is an open-source product."
"HashiCorp Terraform is a cost-effective solution."
"The solution is fairly priced."
"Terraform is a little expensive."
"If you use the solution according to the recommended way by HashiCorp, it is more expensive."
