Centralized control effectively manages devices while updates require powered-on systems
I use Bitdefender GravityZone EDR for the grooming industry. It is primarily utilized for the office environment The features I find most effective for threat detection include centralized control policy distribution and the control of independent devices, such as printers, laptops, and desktops…

It improves the detection speed, but it could be more customizable
They need to stop changing Vision One once a week. They're in a hurry to change things so badly and so fast that I can't find where stuff is half the time, which is a challenge sometimes. I've given one piece of feedback to their product guys. One thing that they're trying to make is a SIEM. It's a product where you input all the logs from your tools, and it creates additional insights into how things look. They've been kind of playing the "me too" game on that, even though that's not what I bought the product for. They have a new gateway where I can take my firewall of email logs and send it over there. In theory, it's supposed to do a more comprehensive evaluation of all my stuff to improve that risk index score. I'm not impressed with it, and I've told them as much. I feel if you're good at something, you should keep working on that and not try to be all the things to all the people. I bought a different email solution even though it would have been 10 times easier to just stay with their email solution because they aren't great at it. They are great at other things, but they're playing the "me too" game with some of their products. Their competitors do this, so they should be doing this, too. They need to pick a product and keep being good at that. If they're going to roll new things out, they should do it but do it right. They have a button to isolate an endpoint because it looks bad, but it doesn't usually work. I've had no chance to argue with the product guys to show them examples of how their button doesn't work. You think it does, but it doesn't work in a real environment. That can be a challenge sometimes. I can see in the data showing what is a false positive. But it doesn't save me time helping them figure out how to fix the problem in their engine. It can help me identify it as a false positive, but it doesn't apply that consistently. It will ignore the false positive for that device, but if they start detecting a false positive on Apple devices, I have eight thousand Apple devices and get 8,000 alerts. I can tell that specific false positive, but it doesn't learn from that particularly well. We use the executive dashboards, but I don't find them particularly useful. One is the ability to customize. That has gotten a little better, and it'll be better in the future. Most of what they have on there are data points that are generic and not particularly actionable. That's why it's called an executive dashboard. Executives want to see if we are secure, but it's hard for me to find out why our attack surface risk went down by x percentage. I don't know. It says that on the dashboard, but it doesn't give me specific details about why. I find it confuses my executives, and it's not useful for me because it doesn't give me things to work on. It will give me generic things on the executive dashboard like you have a thousand accounts with an old password. Those are big generic things, but I also can't tell it that our password policy is different from what your automatic detection model means, and I don't have a problem with that, so quit lowering my risk score. The risk score is useless. In theory, it's based on the random intelligence they're getting from their various customers. I'm in K-12 education, so they have a decent amount of K-12 customers, but it's a subset, and the baseline of what's common in K-12 education is not the same. There's not enough data to make that particularly clean or useful. Vision One is not custom, and that's part of my beef. That index score is based on whatever random report they're looking at from their data sources at any given moment in time. It's nice, but I'd rather have one that's based on your particular circumstances. Instead, it's saying that the number one attack threat surface for school districts is email phishing. It's too generic.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"GravityZone can be controlled from the cloud."
"The most valuable features are the anti-malware and firewall policies. The runtime scans and execution have been beneficial to our business."
"The best feature for our customers is the ransomware feature. It is very fresh and powerful. Bitdefender also has a feature called Ransomware Vaccine. With this feature, when a file from the ransomware is encrypted Bitdefender can revert it back to the original file. It automatically decrypts the file and puts the ransom in quarantine."
"The setup was easy."
"It was easy to set up."
"I like the risk assessment tool built into Bitdefender GravityZone EDR because I'm really into risk assessments and vulnerability testing."
"Useful for the day-to-day analysis of the security infrastructure."
"Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra has many features, such as VPN, web filtering, and email filtering. The product has many good reviews, and I like how straightforward it is to implement. It's also easy to access and use."
"They were one of the companies, early on, that spent a lot of time integrating their toolsets, and I was really impressed with that... the endpoint management system could reach out to the Deep Discovery system on the network and pick up something that it perceived as a suspicious object."
"It has the feature to track an attack back. If there is an incident or an attack occurs, you can get a bird's eye view of that attack. You can see how the attackers came in and how they managed the attack. You can trace an attack. If you are giving a presentation to the management, you can easily show it to them in a live environment how the attackers came, which is amazing."
"The Trend hunting feature is beneficial, providing the opportunity to investigate and see what's happening, using frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK to analyze logs."
"The proactive approach is the best feature."
"We haven't had any issues with configurations or customizations."
"I can prevent my environment from different types of attacks based on what I see in the Vision One console."
"One of the features I like in Trend Micro XDR is that you can drill down on the root-cause analysis for anything you find on the solution. I also like that it works for detection purposes. Behavior analytics is also what I like most about Trend Micro XDR. I love that it has features such as behavior detection, program detection, and memory scanning. By default, the solution protects against spyware, apart from the normal virus scan. Smart Scan and DLP are also available in Trend Micro XDR which I like as well."
"Trend Vision One has significantly improved our company because we can now track and see how many attacks we have. Since we’ve implemented it, we haven’t had any major attacks that have successfully entered the company. So, we know the defense mechanism is working."

Cons

"The stability must be improved."
"The solution is sometimes resource-intensive."
"Their ransomware remediation doesn't respond as fast as BullWall does...Ransomware control needs to be improved."
"What's happening now in this field is artificial intelligence, the behavior part. That is now the trend in many products, including Bitdefender, and this is where the product needs improvement."
"The software itself is solid. It would be better if it was more of a real-time solution, like SentinelOne. The one thing that holds me back on the SentinelOne side is that I can blacklist websites and stuff like that, but it's not as granular as Bitdefender. With Bitdefender, I feel like I have more control over what I can whitelist and blacklist."
"What would make Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra better is if Bitdefender employed more firewall policies and added even more features to the product."
"There is a need to work on the deployment, when it comes to deploying to Windows machines with regards to downloading the size of the package."
"There's room for improvement in terms of protection. That's my primary concern."
"The only downside to Trend Vision One is its complexity."
"Trend Micro's support is suboptimal in my region, likely due to proximity to their resources, favouring areas closer to the company. Consequently, we utilize local support providers who offer better service."
"The support has been delayed at times."
"Trend Vision One requires several enhancements for optimal performance."
"There should be improvements in risk quantification, where the risk is displayed in a quantified manner, showing the dollar value loss."
"They have a DLP module in Tredn Moicros and they need to enhance its capabilities."
"We'd like to see more use of AI around analytics and controls."
"They are planning on adding the Security Playbooks as a complete feature. In the preview mode, it is available; however, it is not released."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"If you look at the solution's price point, it's actually low market value, especially in comparison to other ones."
"It is not that expensive. Compared to its competitors, it is well-priced and well-placed."
"We take the subscription. Only we're taking that GravityZone and protection of the environment and the system. We didn't subscribe to the detection response."
"The solution is affordable."
"Bitdefender GravityZone Ultra is less expensive than other solutions, such as CrowdStrike. We had a really good deal because it was their year-end and they were trying to do a lot of sales that week. We bought a three-year contract from them and the cost was approximately $17 per endpoint, per year. It is was a very good price. I have spoken to other people who have purchased CrowdStrike at approximately $60 per endpoint, per year. I have no complaints about the price of this solution."
"Price-wise, Bitdefender GravityZone EDR is a bit expensive in the Philippines."
"The solution's price is mid-ranged."
"The solution is not expensive but there are cheaper options in the market. In terms of competitiveness, the price is reasonable with no other additional costs besides the licensing fees."
"Trend Micro solutions are very expensive compared to other solutions. Even though everything is in one console, each feature requires a separate license."
"The pricing of the solution is okay. There is a need for me to look into the new pricing plan introduced by the solution recently."
"It is costly. It is not that affordable for a small organization. Only big organizations can afford it. It is a new feature that has been added, so its price is fair. Its licensing is probably subscription-based. It is for one or two years."
"While the pricing and licensing for Trend Vision One are generally acceptable, the need to purchase additional features separately adds complexity."
"Competitors offer comparable solutions at slightly lower prices, so Vision One has room to reduce its pricing by 15 percent, given that Trend Vision One charges approximately $10 per endpoint."
"Trend Vision One is an expensive product."
"The cost is considered fairly priced."
"The price is reasonable. It's not exorbitant. CrowdStrike and other players are on the higher side."
