Way more efficient for debugging than other tools but the UI is complicated
Our company uses the solution's automation processes to develop a fleet of robots for one of our clients. To date, we have developed more than 40 robots.  We also have clients in the banking and insurance industries.  We currently use both the 6.10.2 and 7.0 versions of the solution.  The solution…

Automates browsing tasks without needing a server connection
My use case for the product is in the finance domain.  You can automate browsing tasks without needing a server connection. The platform provides its browser, allowing you to run anything inside it.  The product should improve desktop automation, which is hard to configure. It needs to have…

Improves accuracy and has the easiest interface and good scalability
Orchestrator needs an overhaul. They have added so many functions that it is sometimes quite hard to find the right settings. They have a tree hierarchy with the host and the tenant. Some settings you do on the host, and some settings you do on the tenant. You need to know at which level you are to find what you need. It all looks very same. The other thing that I have been telling them for years is the width of the activity. You cannot change the width. I do a lot of training to show something, and I constantly have to go into the advanced editor to show what is in there, but the big thing right now is Orchestrator.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We found the unassisted bots very useful because they can program a variety of different processes. This is a valuable feature of Blue Prism, especially when compared to other tools on the market."
"The most valuable features are the exception handling and embedded control room."
"We started with a very small team and small projects. As the project started getting success with Blue Prism we have a large number of teams now just for automating all the business procedures. Larger time was saved after automating the processes."
"Blue Prism has a lot of flexibility to integrate with other enterprise applications"
"Technical support has been responsive when we have needed their assistance."
"The multi-bot architecture is very flexible."
"Blue Prism is stable enough."
"The ease of development is the most valuable. Standard VBOs are pretty useful there with Excel and different things. Our custom developments for SAP and things like that are pretty easy to set up and quick to get going."
"The OCR was quite stable and flexible."
"Kofax RPA's best feature is its high success percentage in picking up information from documents, especially where the DPI is really low."
"The most valuable features are workflow and process automation."
"It is very simple and easy to learn compared to any other RPA tools such as UiPath, Automation Anywhere and Blue Prism."
"The product provided all the security controls that we asked them."
"The most valuable feature of Kofax RPA is the simplicity of automating tasks."
"The drag and drop functionality is quite good."
"This is a stable platform and we did not encounter any big problems."
"The product is good. It's highly scalable, and it's stable. Over the last one and a half years, based on whatever we have developed, we've found it to be pretty stable as compared to the other platforms, such as Automation Anywhere."
"I'm from a non-technical background, so for me, it's very easy to just drag and drop the fields using the Studio functionality and place them in my workflow module... The option in Studio of the drag-and-drop functionality makes it very easy to design certain applications."
"REFramework... is a pre-defined template built with proper exception handling and logging activities. Those aspects help developers to develop code properly."
"The inbuilt RE Framework makes development easier and fast."
"UiPath integrates well with Elasticsearch, which is a great search engine."
"I found the UiPath Academy very valuable and it has helped us to understand the product we are working with."
"UiPath Academy RPA training is well put together. It paces well, not too fast nor too slow. You are constantly given new things to experiment with and things to learn which keep you interested, engaged, and moving forward."
"We leverage the whole platform. The tool's most valuable features are unattended and attended robots."

Cons

"Blue Prism needs to work in a web-based account. I think that the Blue Prism will need to have the main features be web-based so that you can control the box in a web-based environment and not in a client's environment."
"We didn't find it much useful for unstructured data. It is not easy to do the automation with Blue Prism if you have unstructured data. It should have better automation processes or connectors for unstructured data such as PDFs or pictures. It has a connector for different applications, such as SAP, but we use a few other applications for which it doesn't have a connector. It should have a more comprehensive dashboard that we can use to see the processes that are running and control the parameters."
"Security could be improved."
"This solution is lacking attended automation, which is the worst thing about this solution."
"The initial setup and deployment could be simplified."
"I have found that community support is lacking for this solution compared to competitors."
"I would like to see a cloud version of Blue Prism available. Both cloud and on-premise options would be beneficial, as they would reduce maintenance costs. I'm using the Blue Prism desktop, which is still in the initial stages. I want enhancements in the Object Explorer and Application Model features to ensure stability in upcoming versions. I have suggested a few ideas, such as incorporating triggering mechanisms, but I haven't seen them implemented yet."
"Everyone uses Workday and Salesforce and all that stuff. If they had specific plugins to interact with these enterprise tools, that would be very helpful."
"The product should improve desktop automation, which is hard to configure. It needs to have custom connectors. It is the only advantage that Microsoft Power Platform has over Kofax RPA. It has more than 800 custom connectors."
"The interface could be better from a usability standpoint."
"Its documentation is not widely available on the web. They should work on the availability of its documentation. In Automation Anywhere, there is a feature called Discovery Bot that automatically records the process steps and suggests a possible bot. I am not sure if such a feature is available in Kofax. If it is not available, it will be very good to have this feature. "
"I'd like to see a recording function and a more simple interface."
"RPA technology is constantly changing, and sometimes Kofax lags behind."
"This product has room for improvement in support of aviation. The interface could be improved in the next release."
"The solution could use some AI integrated features."
"We are on version 10.6, and the current version seems to be 11. Kofax is cycling the capabilities of the product very quickly. One of the difficulties has been to actually keep up with the capabilities as they've evolved. On the one hand, it is good that the product is getting better, but on the other hand, it is difficult to implement the best way with a product that is evolving constantly."
"However, challenges arise when attempting to automate multiple VPN connections."
"I would like it to better handle updates from other systems, whether it's SAP or a website. That's the thing that we struggle with. Anytime a system changes, we have to go in and modify the code."
"I would like UiPath to give free trial licenses for more features, like AI Center. UiPath currently offers two licenses for the trial version. However, if I need to practice in AI Center, then I need four to six licenses."
"UiPath support should be more accessible. We should be able to connect to support faster and resolve the issues sooner. When we open a ticket, we would prefer to get a call instead of an email. A priority issue is easier to resolve over the phone, so that would be preferable."
"They should expand on workflow type items and take another step up from the long-running workflows to offer more visibility of business processes within Orchestrator."
"I am looking forward to new cognitive and artificial intelligence capabilities."
"Sometimes, we get an error when we are developing something in the UiPath Studio for Salesforce. It gives me an error when I create one line of code, but I don't get the error when I make the same line of code again. We also get some bugs when UiPath adds new features. If we're developing multiple activities on one core, it can slow the response times a bit, and it will take more time when we try to download the dependencies or other packages."
"The debugging capabilities need to be improved in UiPath because it is very difficult to find bugs in the chatbot. In Visual Studio Code, by contrast, we have an excellent debugger that fixes all the bugs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's an expensive product. For what they are providing in terms of capabilities and features for the price, I would rate the pricing an eight out of ten."
"I would rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"I don't recall what it was. Initially, we had our licensing through the consultant, and when we stopped using them, we renegotiated licensing. Blue Prism gave us temporary licenses during the negotiation. When all things were said and done, it came out to a decent price even without the vendor. So, our management has been happy with that."
"We really don't bear the costs. The cost is borne by the customer. It runs into about $100,000 per year per customer for Blue Prism. We normally budget around $30,000 for the first year for the hardware, setup, and people cost."
"Its pricing is okay. Its price is pretty similar to the price of other tools."
"The license for Blue Prism is very straightforward, we only need one license."
"The solution is enterprise software so we will try to maximize our usage during the available slots. We will get ROI with the high price since there will be some value added with automation. I think that after doing a cost-benefit analysis, we are on the positive side."
"The solution is not that expensive and a five-year license costs about 20k euros."
"Kofax's prices are pretty reasonable."
"I don't have complete insight at this point in time, but I would guess that Kofax is a lot less expensive than Automation Anywhere. I would expect its license to be on a yearly basis."
"The pricing model for automation solutions like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, and Microsoft Power Platform is subscription-based, where costs are calculated based on factors such as the number of hours used and the scale of automation required.......With Kofax, you purchase a license upfront, and that's all you need. You can create as many automation workflows as you require without additional costs for individual use cases."
"The solution’s license is not expensive."
"There is a standard license needed to use Kofax RPA and the price is reasonable."
"Kofax RPA's licensing costs are yearly and expensive."
"The cost depends on the number of licenses and the number of RPAs."
"I give the price of the solution a six out of ten."
"Do your research, the infrastructure piece is important to understand before purchasing."
"The pricing is transparent, and the best part is that they have the Community version, so there isn't anything to hide. You can try the cloud version. They offer plenty of time, two months, for a trial."
"UiPath is priced to accommodate large enterprises, but it is expensive for small and medium-sized enterprises."
"UiPath is expensive which is why we need to have bots that run 24/7 to maximize the work and justify the cost."
"Because we have so many agents, that's why we went unattended. Attended was very expensive for us because it's a per person license. Where we can take entire workflows, do the triggering and scheduling, etc. We never have to have any human interaction with unattended."
"Our licensing fees for this solution are €68,000 (approximately $75,000 USD) yearly."
"The product is very affordable, not costly at all."
"UiPath is somewhat expensive."
