We performed a comparison between Check Point Web Gateway and Cisco Umbrella based on real PeerSpot user reviews.
Find out in this report how the two Secure Web Gateways (SWG) solutions compare in terms of features, pricing, service and support, easy of deployment, and ROI."On the outside, the main differentiation is because Lookout ingest. They have ingested basically all of the apps for the last ten years and all the versions of all the apps, and we have that in a corporate database that allows us to do very large-scale machine learning and analysis on that data set. That's not something that any of the competitors really have the capability to do because they don't have access to the data set. A lot of the apps you can no longer get them because that version of the app is five or six years old, and it just doesn't exist anywhere anymore, except within our infrastructure. So, the ability to have that very rich dataset and learn from that dataset is a real differentiator."
"The protection offered by the product is the most valuable feature. It detects vulnerabilities or traps on our users' phones and then prompts them to clean up their devices. Tools we used previously would only discover, which required us to gather information on the backend, so Lookout is a welcome upgrade."
"The most valuable features are the antivirus as a whole, the anti-malware, and all of the protection features that scan our enterprise devices."
"The solution is stable."
"The implementation of this tool was straightforward."
"The interface is simply amazing."
"The product's best feature is observing how the traffic flows from one gateway to another. It's convenient for checking specific details, and you can manage everything centrally."
"One of its rather outstanding capabilities is its ability to add an extra layer of protection to our company's internal network."
"Application control gives IT teams an opportunity to set suitable policies that can be used by all teams when coding."
"SmartConsole is intuitive."
"The product covers all the security needs of roaming users."
"It can also be used as a reverse proxy through the checkpoint."
"Some clients only want DNS security, while others want more of the advanced features that it has available."
"The interface is well organized, so you can easily find everything. Even if you don't have much experience with Cisco, you can easily navigate the solution and find your way around. Everything has been done well, from the deployment to monitoring."
"I was able to implement it myself. It was really easy to install. You could install it on a server locally if you want to. If you have the biggest site, you would do that, but for my site, it was just directing all the traffic out through the Cisco Umbrella DNS. It was really handy. When the owners of the company went overseas, I knew that they would be secure because even if they were not on the company network, they would still go through the Cisco Umbrella servers. It was a complete solution for protecting the company with outgoing data."
"We are very new users of the solution and are still in the exploration stages, but we are happy with the product thus far."
"I like the original functionality, which allows for providing secure DNS services."
"Provides dependable DNS monitoring of external devices."
"It has excellent resilience in cybersecurity. Cybersecurity for my organization is very important because we are a banking organization. We need this security to protect the personal information of our clients. This is very important for our security."
"I also think that the dashboard view is really helpful. Whenever sites get blocked, we get the details and the users who are connecting to them."
"From the analysis that we've done, they do seem to be maybe a step behind in trying to enter the market with a new solution. But when they do pick up, they do come out with some good products."
"The stability depends on the service from where you access it. Because sometimes, the place you are in, you have Gateway. You don't have Gateway. The gateway is overutilized. At the end, you need to go through their gateways. And this is the key point here. You have a tracking point. If it's not well orchestrated, and it scales up as you add more to the existing team, you will suffer"
"We just submitted an enhancement request reflecting the main area we want to see improvement in; the APIs. Currently, we're able to build dashboards, but it's somewhat backward because we use our MDM API to create them. Lookout should provide API to customers so we can query our data and use it in our cloud, and this is the only outstanding area for improvement with the product right now."
"Lookout was moving into the SSE space. And so their work on SecureWeb Gateway and SD-WAN is still sort of evolving."
"The documentation must be improved."
"It is expensive. Its price should be better."
"There is room for improvement in support because the solution needs multiple regions to reach certain features and validations."
"Perhaps the latency in the administrative part of the portal would be a point of improvement."
"For the most modern versions, there currently is no documentation, or it is more difficult to find it."
"Check Point Web Gateway could improve the user interface. It could be made more modern."
"Check Point Web Gateway could add an end point access function."
"Most of the time, we are struggling when it comes to getting support."
"I would like them to make some videos, practical videos, the kind with steps that people can use to learn and deploy"
"I would like to see more integration between Cisco Umbrella and Cisco DNA Center."
"If you wish to inspect all the traffic and it's integrated with Cisco AnyConnect, all the traffic basically goes through Cisco AnyConnect, which is not a good idea. That means you need to have more internet capacity as a data sampler, so in the case of a split tunnel, we cannot inspect the traffic that is being migrated through the local internet. I'm not sure whether there is a possibility wherein Cisco Umbrella can also inspect the traffic that is outside the AnyConnect tunnel."
"Missing a real data leakage prevention solution."
"Some countries don't have a DNS server leading to a domain resolution IP, not at a local level."
"Cisco Umbrella should add some more documentation on proxies."
"I am unsure if Cisco Umbrella offers a Windows option for running the server."
"It needs better integration with external threat feeds to improve scoring."
