Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"We removed multiple backup systems and replaced with Cohesity."
"Since deploying Cohesity we've been able to help our end-users get their data back quicker than ever."
"All backups are working flawlessly."
"The implementation and training are all done through the sales engineer, which provides for a seamless and great experience when it comes to starting with a new vendor."
"Cohesity DataProtect is a converged solution that simplifies backup and allows use of the backed-up data."
"It makes our administrators' lives much easier to combine backup, archiving, and services like hosting file shares in one central system with only one user interface."
"The tool is faster and easier to use than others. The most critical feature for our data protection needs is the accuracy of backups and restores."
"After linking a cloud subscription, like Azure for example (AWS and Google are also supported), you can "spin" a VM onto the cloud from any backup snapshot."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"It's straightforward to set up."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows are the backups, ease of use, and report manager."
"In general, it's worked like a charm; it's helped me do backups and restores and it has never failed me in that perspective, except for the ASM disk issues."
"The solution has a replication feature that allows us to do the VR, and it's very good, and the user interface is good and provides a lot of information."
"The installation of Veeam Agent is straightforward."
"Solution provides good security."
"The solution works really well; it offers all the features we need."

Cons

"Reporting is one area that isn't as robust as it could be."
"In terms of what could be improved, it just needs some maturity."
"The container functionality is very limited at the moment, not covering the whole container."
"The marketplace app stability is still an issue at times."
"The support from Cohesity is good, but it is not as exceptional as Nutanix."
"The error handling could be improved."
"The tool could benefit from further improvements in AI features, particularly in areas such as a generative AI chat interface. This feature could help answer queries about the data being protected. One feature that would greatly improve our experience with the product is the ability to identify data redundancies through a central console. This feature would help us reduce storage costs by managing redundant data."
"We have had our share of minor bugs over the past two years and a few bigger ones."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials."
"There should be an option to use the solution for physical machines."
"Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution."
"In terms of improvements, they can maybe improve its documentation."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's pricing is average."
"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
"Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
"There is monthly licensing."
"The pricing model is impressive and very effective."
"With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The pricing is good."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"We have the Community Edition and I believe we bought a license for 200 instances. Veeam Agent is mainly used for our branch offices. Those only have one or two Hyper-V servers, so it's covered with the Community Edition. Basically, it's free. I remember Veeam 7.0 or 8.0 wasn't free, but the Community Edition is."
"We have an annual license."
