Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We like that we can use production data to run intensive reports that would otherwise bog down the production server."
"I found value in the instant recovery with DataMove. I found value in the protection group model for applying policies to VMs. And in the overall UI navigation and the way that the application is laid out in the web browser."
"Cohesity DataProtect is user-friendly and straightforward. The setup process was effortless, and both the backup and restore operations are speedy."
"We removed multiple backup systems and replaced with Cohesity."
"The change has been night and day."
"The enterprise search and instant restore are pretty valuable. Also, the Helios stuff is pretty good and the SAS engine for ransom malware detection."
"I like that Cohesity offers the chance to have data on-premises and on the cloud. All the data is automatically sent to the cloud."
"The product is easy to put in place, all backups are done very quickly, and it's easy to perform restores."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows's most useful features is the ease of use and user-friendly."
"The initial setup, if it is error-free, is very simple."
"I don't have any major problems with the agent connectivity with Microsoft applications or Microsoft Azure."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"We are saving a lot of money on costs right now since we have implemented the solution and we are using the community version."
"The most valuable features of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows are the backups, ease of use, and report manager."
"Overall, we are pretty happy with this product."
"It's straightforward to set up."

Cons

"Their UI requires a manual refresh. It doesn't seem like it updates itself sometimes when you're moving from screens or waiting for a change to take effect, so you have to manually refresh."
"We are waiting on the AIX agent to be released."
"Reporting is quite limited and not customizable."
"Technical support being outsourced is a downside but not different from every one of Cohesity's competitors."
"Quality testing of upgrades should be somewhat improved."
"I thought physical RDM's were supported, but apparently that is not the case."
"Better support for legacy platforms would be nice, but we should be moving off those anyway."
"Features I would like to see include a more visible data lifecycle monitoring tab, and an easier to read backup status dashboard."
"The price of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows could improve."
"I would like there to be more integration with other platforms."
"The compression ratio and application ratio could still be improved in this solution. Reporting could also be improved, for better monitoring."
"The support could be improved a lot, as it is currently non-existent."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"Some users might think the interface could be improved."
"The solution's compression ratio and high speed for backing up can always improve. Aspects that need improvement are less time, better quality, higher security, and more compression."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"It has reasonable pricing, and we know they can give discounts. If you look at the primary pricing or the list pricing, it conforms to the market pricing, but you have to have a discount on it. Otherwise, it is way too expensive."
"The tool's pricing is average."
"Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
"Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"We have a license package."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"We have an annual license."
