Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

"While we're still new in the implementation, we are excited that we now have a single point of view for all of our backups."
"Instead of four different solutions for protecting VMs, physical servers, SQL, and NAS, we now have one solution with Cohesity that is lightning fast and has amazing features."
"A full-featured option for managing virtual machines with an instant recovery feature."
"Mostly, the solution offers very good peace of mind; we feel safe and secure and know that we are able to recover anything we need to."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"When I compare Veeam with the storage manager from IBM or data protocol from HP or Exeter or some backups from Dell, Veeam is superior."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use."
"I like working on the Azure platform."
"My favorite feature in this solution is instant recovery, where you can recover a virtual machine in less than a minute."

Cons

"I would like to see Cohesity have the ability to do a file level restore from a Windows server, which is storing data on dynamic disk."
"Cannot exclude certain drives from VMs."
"I like that Cohesity offers the chance to have data on-premises and on the cloud. All the data is automatically sent to the cloud."
"The GUI is in need of improvement."
"Microsoft Exchange online mailbox backups would be fantastic."
"There is room for improvement in terms of price."
"The support is pretty bad."
"This solution is only compatible with a limited number of storage arrays, including Pure and Cisco Hyperflex."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"The support could be improved a lot, as it is currently non-existent."
"Some users might think the interface could be improved."
"I've found a lot of difficulties on the initial setup and especially in terms of credentials."

"The only things that I can think of where Veeam can improve are in very small details."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in."
"There is monthly licensing."
"Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
"The solution's pricing is in the mid-range, where it's neither costly nor cheap."
"Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day."
"With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."

"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."

"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
