Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Pros

"We are saving valuable datacenter rack space, which is critical as we evaluate co-location options."
"We see that one part of the market really likes the Commvault features and functionality, but there is another part in the Dutch market that says, "I don't want all that complexity, I just want it set and go," and that's when we're positioning Cohesity."
"We are very satisfied with the product as a whole—all the backup functions, the data protection functions. We are very satisfied with those, and the product is very simple to use."
"We are looking forward to the next release, so we can take advantage of the AHV backup for our Nutanix environment."
"Instead of four different solutions for protecting VMs, physical servers, SQL, and NAS, we now have one solution with Cohesity that is lightning fast and has amazing features."
"Its flexibility is the most valuable. Being a cloud version, it has more flexibility, and it allows me to incorporate different workloads and consolidate all the data in one place. It has good high availability, and it is also easy to maintain."
"The nice thing is there is no further licensing when you purchase the system, all is integrated."
"Cohesity is powerful and simple!"
"I like working on the Azure platform."
"Technical support is good. They're very responsive. It depends on the timezone responding, but I usually get a response within three hours of creating a ticket."
"This solution is very compatible with the virtual environment, application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good."
"The most valuable feature is that it's a VMware environment."
"The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements."
"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved."
"The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements. It has good performance."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product, and the technical support is also very good."

Cons

"I would say they could work on the update process of the nodes."
"We don't love the Exchange integration, it works fine but requires a third-party application called Kroll."
"Cannot exclude certain drives from VMs."
"We aren't missing any features. In terms of the solution overall, it's so far so good."
"The one drawback of this quick innovation is that their units were shipped with outdated firmware, but this was quickly remedied, and they have made operational changes to reduce the likelihood of sending outdated firmware again."
"I would like to see Microsoft Exchange DAG supported as soon as possible."
"A little more documentation on standard faults would help, as new features are being released quite often."
"Initial setup can be complex if you need to change IP addresses. Hopefully, they improve that in a future release."
"A feature I would like to see is universal restore."
"While the Veeam agent is perfect, sometimes the agent doesn't install in Windows."
"The stability of this solution needs to be improved."
"On a scale from one to ten where one is the worst and ten is the best, I would rate the Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows as either a zero or a ten."
"Updating and configuration can sometimes be a little bit of a hassel, but once you know the product better it is easy to use."
"With the currency exchange, the solution ends up being quite expensive."
"Some customers have Oracle databases and Veeam does support back up of Oracle databases."
"If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do."

"It has reasonable pricing, and we know they can give discounts. If you look at the primary pricing or the list pricing, it conforms to the market pricing, but you have to have a discount on it. Otherwise, it is way too expensive."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"We purchased support from Cohesity to ensure that should we face an issue, we don't have to deal with different service providers."

"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"I expect the system to probably pay off within the first two years."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."

"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
"We have a cloud provider agreement with Veeam. We are also paying for the agent."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
