Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Pros

"Our business thrives on Cohesity storage."

"Converged system. It makes much more sense to have the backup server running on the same hardware as the storage for backup and recovery."
"Its flexibility is the most valuable; being a cloud version, it has more flexibility, and it allows me to incorporate different workloads and consolidate all the data in one place."
"I love the ability to clone a virtual server in only minutes."
"All backups are working flawlessly."
"The stability has been good; there aren't bugs or glitches and it doesn't crash or freeze, making it quite reliable."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."
"We use Veeam Agent for security as well as to ensure we have a backup should the server or discs fatally die."
"Veeam is very useful for the Hyper-V environment."
"The solution is useful for taking backups for end-user laptops and end-user workstations where data is involved."
"Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows is a good investment; looking at the cost of using data and the cost of having the solution, it's quite good."
"It's powerful and user-friendly."
"I love Veeam because it is very easy to work with."
"I don't have any major problems with the agent connectivity with Microsoft applications or Microsoft Azure."

Cons

"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"Faster backup and restores, reduced costs of backups."
"Cohesity DataProtect can improve in the area of databases. We have had some challenges with both Cohesity and Rubrik being able to effectively back up in a timely manner the SQL Oracle workloads."
"There is limited support for legacy systems, which is something that could be improved."
"Support is good, but some functions are added pretty late, like vCloud Director support."
"It would be great to add SQL Object Level restore, so user objects, tables, etc. can be restored without having to restore the entire DB."
"Initial setup can be complex if you need to change IP addresses. Hopefully, they improve that in a future release."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."
"The scalability is not very good - especially when I want to backup Microsoft Windows."
"If you are doing an AIX backup then you have to use the CLI because it doesn't appear on the console, the way that Windows and Linux jobs do."
"It fulfills our needs in terms of features. In terms of improvements, they can maybe improve its documentation."
"It is not always easy to update this solution to the newer version, so the update process needs to be improved."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
"Maybe in the future, they could do something better with the user interface and the performance, but so far it's a really good, efficient solution."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"There is monthly licensing."
"Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."
"Cohesity came in at the best price. Setup was included and done in half a day."
"The solution's pricing is in the mid-range, where it's neither costly nor cheap."
"Ensure that you understand the per TB licensing model. Also, Exchange backups are not native to Cohesity and require Kroll."
"The pricing model is impressive and very effective."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"The ROI is huge. Not really measurable at this point, but the price of the unit was a fraction of what a couple hours of downtime could result in."
"Our licensing fees are on a yearly basis."
"We purchased a three-year license, and I think that the prices are ok."
"It is less expensive than one of its variants."
"The solution is inexpensive, more so than other products."
"We have an annual license."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"The pricing is good."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
