Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

"It's completely reliable and easy to restore."
"The spin-up of a VM within a test environment for backup testing along with quick restores."
"Old backup solution: Full restore of mission critical systems took around one day. Cohesity does this process in under one hour."
"It has vastly improved our ability to save money by backing up and replicating our backups off-site."
"It's stable."
"The enterprise search and instant restore are pretty valuable. Also, the Helios stuff is pretty good and the SAS engine for ransom malware detection."
"Veeam is very user-friendly and intuitive software."
"There is no trouble or lack of features within this solution, which is the reason we have chosen this solution to work with."
"The solution is very stable."
"The most valuable features are the flexibility and stability of the product."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use."
"It is easy to deploy."
"When I compare Veeam with the storage manager from IBM or data protocol from HP or Exeter or some backups from Dell, Veeam is superior."
"Overall, we are pretty happy with this product."

Cons

"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"We would like it to have more capabilities for different kinds of PaaS or SaaS services in the Azure cloud, such as Azure SQL or Azure Cosmos DB."
"Better cluster support."
"We don't love the Exchange integration, it works fine but requires a third-party application called Kroll."
"The product is still young and is continually improving."
"Cohesity DataProtect needs to improve its reporting capabilities."
"The support team could do a better job. Sometimes finding the correct person is cumbersome and time consuming."
"Quality testing of upgrades should be somewhat improved."
"A lower price would always be beneficial."
"The scalability is not very good - especially when I want to backup Microsoft Windows."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"I expect the system to probably pay off within the first two years."
"My advice is to always negotiate for better pricing."
"Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."
"Sizing is important and it is easy to overestimate."
"The pricing model is impressive and very effective."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"We have a license package."
"It is less expensive than one of its variants."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
