Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"I like that Cohesity offers the chance to have data on-premises and on the cloud, and all the data is automatically sent to the cloud."
"Reliable backup solution with many options and friendly/logical backup/restore infrastructure."
"With Cohesity, you have a template that helps you to backup and restore the right thing to the right place."
"We have quick, reliable, verifiable backups that replicate off-site, the system is easy to administer and troubleshoot, and support is quick to respond and helpful."
"It offers an easy, quick backup and restore of files and VMs. Also, the "Google-like " search for files is awesome."
"We were able to eliminate tape backups by utilizing Cohesity to backup our VMs, replicate the backup data to a second offsite Cohesity cluster, and replace our older legacy NAS devices, which greatly simplified our environment and provided a substantial increase in speed."
"The dashboard is very rich and provides details needed for a moderator."
"It has greatly simplified backups and recovery for our organization."
"This solution has got all of the functionality that I need in order to work with it."
"The solution is meeting all of our client's requirements. It has good performance."
"We are always satisfied with technical support."
"My favorite feature in this solution is instant recovery, where you can recover a virtual machine in less than a minute."
"The product is free to use. We don't have to pay for a license."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"Stability is not an issue, it has been working pretty nicely."
"This is a good product with a simple environment."

Cons

"We found scaling Cohesity to be very challenging."
"We are waiting on the AIX agent to be released."
"The one area where we would like to see additional improvements is with reporting. There are very granular reports from each grid. There are also some built-in reports within Helios (SAS Management Console) that offers basic reporting. However, for complex, large-enterprise environments, a more robust reporting engine that supports detailed audit reporting and enhanced ad hoc reports would be welcome."
"Technical support being outsourced is a downside but not different from every one of Cohesity's competitors."
"At times, you may click the wrong server or click too fast and accidentally restore a cluster of servers. It would be very helpful to have a cancel option under restores."
"The error handling could be improved."
"We have had our share of minor bugs over the past two years and a few bigger ones."
"Microsoft Exchange online mailbox backups would be fantastic."
"An area that this solution could be improved would be with the licensing."
"The backups can go slow."
"I would like to have more flexibility in terms of reporting details about the backup."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
"We need some sort of security for backups and archives."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"Cohesity came in at the best price."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"From my last assessment, the pricing for Cohesity DataProtect was reasonable. Compared to its closest competitor, Rubrik, I found Rubrik's pricing to be somewhat high-end. While Rubrik may have more advanced security features than Cohesity DataProtect currently, Cohesity DataProtect is releasing a new solution in the near future that will compete directly with Rubrik."
"With respect to pricing, make sure that you look at both Rubrik and Cohesity as they are very similar and are quite competitive."
"Sizing is important and it is easy to overestimate."
"Licensing is per node and per protected terabyte. You will also pay 10-15% annually for support."
"The solution's pricing is quite high, more so than that of its competitors, Veeam, Veritas and Rubrik."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"The pricing model is based on CPU and must be declared as Microsoft or VMware licensing."
"We are on an annual license to use Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows. There are not any additional fees to use the solution."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"We have an annual license."
"The solution is free of cost for end users but for enterprise use, a license per user is required."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"The pricing is good."
