Backup operations have become faster and daily recoveries run smoothly for on‑prem workloads
When compared to other tools, the deduplication in Cohesity DataProtect is very fast, and the restore performance is better than other tools. Global deduplication ensures that only unique data blocks are stored, significantly reducing storage consumption. Cohesity DataProtect's dashboard displays options and errors clearly, making it easy to access and understand how to fix issues. Cohesity DataProtect's ability to start processes automatically without manual selections enhances its reliability. Cohesity DataProtect's architecture ensures that agent installations automatically reflect in the dashboard, allowing for seamless integration into backup jobs. This improves operational efficiency, ensuring backups can be triggered without manual refreshes. Additionally, the user interface is intuitive, and the respect of the N-1 rule during updates helps prevent client-affecting issues.

Easy to use and mange with reasonable pricing
The main feature is a specific file type. If we want some PDF files just to back up, the prefix is very easy, and we do everything in Veeam backup. It's straightforward to set up. It's stable. The solution is easy to use. You can centrally manage it. It's potentially free to use.

"It's completely reliable and easy to restore."
"The four independent node cluster architecture is redundant. It maintains data integrity and load balancing."
"This solution is easy to manage."
"The recovery process is effective, especially when it comes to other types of data, such as VMs, and overall, the performance is commendable."
"We are saving valuable datacenter rack space, which is critical as we evaluate co-location options."
"We were able to eliminate tape backups by utilizing Cohesity to backup our VMs, replicate the backup data to a second offsite Cohesity cluster, and replace our older legacy NAS devices, which greatly simplified our environment and provided a substantial increase in speed."
"It is good and easy to use for backing up physical servers; it is working fine, and it is stable and scalable."
"The user interface is good. It provides a lot of information."
"It's straightforward to set up."
"This solution is very compatible with the virtual environment, application awareness is very good and the speed of this solution is good."
"The most valuable feature is the ability to navigate inside a backup point to look for a specific folder or data you want to recover."
"This is a reliable system that supports Veeam backup and recovery for Windows."
"The most valuable features are backup and restore. This solution is also easy to use."
"The most valuable feature is application availability, which allows us to monitor all agents and accounts."

Cons

"When a new release is launched, there may be some bugs that need to be addressed by the developers. However, they promptly resolve these issues, and the software runs smoothly once again."
"The support team sometimes takes a long time to resolve issues, although, in our experience, these have been specific things like SQL blobs."
"I would like to see Cohesity have the ability to do a file level restore from a Windows server, which is storing data on dynamic disk."
"In terms of what could be improved, it just needs some maturity."
"The one area where we would like to see additional improvements is with reporting. There are very granular reports from each grid. There are also some built-in reports within Helios (SAS Management Console) that offers basic reporting. However, for complex, large-enterprise environments, a more robust reporting engine that supports detailed audit reporting and enhanced ad hoc reports would be welcome."
"The container functionality is very limited at the moment, not covering the whole container."
"The error handling could be improved."
"Their documentation could be refined."
"In terms of improvements, they can maybe improve its documentation."
"The solution lacks instant recovery."
"I can't think of anything that may be missing."
"They should improve the solution's automation features."
"Troubleshooting is very hard."
"Interface could possibly be improved."
"If they could let you can do replication to physical servers - a backup from physical servers and a replication to physical servers - that will be better."
"In the next release, I would like to see it easier to implement."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"From my last assessment, the pricing for Cohesity DataProtect was reasonable. Compared to its closest competitor, Rubrik, I found Rubrik's pricing to be somewhat high-end. While Rubrik may have more advanced security features than Cohesity DataProtect currently, Cohesity DataProtect is releasing a new solution in the near future that will compete directly with Rubrik."
"The solution's pricing is in the mid-range, where it's neither costly nor cheap."
"The tool's licensing costs are yearly. It is cheaper than other backup solutions."
"The pricing model is impressive and very effective."
"The tool's pricing is average."
"There is monthly licensing."
"If SQL is in heavy use at your location, I would highly recommend narrowing your PoC testing to Cohesity and Rubrik. They will be competitive on pricing with each other, so really put them through the paces."
"Pricing, setup costs, etc. are pretty typical. The initial cost for Cohesity was less than other products the we evaluated. Cohesity's pricing does offer benefits as DR target costs are less than other solutions. You are not charged for DataProtect licensing for target DR data consumption."
"The cost for its licenses is reasonable and as per industry standards."
"We pay for a three-year subscription to use Veeam Agent."
"Pricing is based on license packaging and duration. Longer term licenses are less per year and license packages also offer a discount."
"There are costs in addition to the standard licensing fees, and pricing can be a disadvantage or a weakness for this solution."
"The licensing fees are billed on a yearly basis, and the fees are much lower than what I pay for NetBackup."
"It is less expensive than one of its variants."
"For the licensing of Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows, the customer can choose to pay monthly or yearly. It's up to the customer."
"We have an annual license."
