Has supported seamless integration and offers fast implementation
This needs to be checked for the most valuable features in Dell PowerFlex for data management. It is more stable, more powerful, and has more integration features. The scalability is very good and is one of the key features of Dell PowerFlex. Its flexibility and scalability are the main reasons we can use Dell PowerFlex.

Enforces standardized setup procedures following Certified Validated Design (CVD) guidelines and offers greater flexibility and control over the system compared to traditional systems
The GUI setup follows the right setup, meaning we have to follow the CVDi.e. Certified Validated Design. Everything is clear, because you can build CI yourself, but without rules, it can be messy. With FlexPod, there are rules to follow, making it more standardized. This helps with troubleshooting and compatibility assessments, simplifying troubleshooting significantly. We also use FlexPod pre-validated architectures to validate the design. It is very, very important to us because we had a bad case in 2015 where separate items integrated poorly due to no version or firmware compatibility certification. Troubleshooting became a nightmare. So, standards are crucial for us, and everything entering production should be verified or at least documented for certification.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution is quite stable."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is integration."
"We are planning to upgrade this system in three years, but in the meantime, we are happy with VxFlex."
"The most valuable feature is high availability."
"The solution is very scalable."
"We have been dealing with them for some time and we are happy with the product."
"The solution was connected to alternate storage, and it provides great scalability and reliability."
"The solution saves a lot of space in the data center and that is a key advantage for us."
"It is a mature solution, it has been pretested, there are reference architectures for it, it is easy to use, and it uses the best compute, storage, and networking, which all work together in a proven solution."
"This is the best hyperconverged infrastructure."
"The most valuable feature is ease of deployment. Once I deploy the chassis and I have the back-end storage, configuring more UCS servers is very quick. I can deploy a new UCS server within minutes."
"The solution has decreased downtime incidents by close to 100% and with the resiliency built into the system, one component fails and the others still work."
"It's been a very stable environment for us, absolutely."
"FlexPod is an architecture that a lot of our major customers are running with their most mission critical stuff."
"We have seen a 20 percent improvement in application performance."
"The solution has granular scalability."

Cons

"Needs some more monitoring tools."
"I think there might be some room for improvement when it comes to pricing, because although I know how to convert customers, at the end of day, it's quite expensive. Sometimes your feature architecture is still coming out much cheaper than hardware costs for your infrastructure."
"I am not really impressed by the technical support of this solution."
"The biggest issue with the solution is that it doesn't support Hyper V. It's a big problem."
"We've had some issues around the licensing."
"The solution is okay overall. It could be easier to learn."
"The support of containers needs to be improved. At present, it is limited to VMware. There needs to be direct communication with the hardware rather than through a hypervisor."
"The level of support needs improvement as the front-line support staff lack knowledge when we raise cases."
"I'd like them to bring back the GUI for NetApp ONTAP. They changed the interface in version 9.8, and it's not great."
"In terms of improvement, I would focus on cost. It can be a little bit expensive."
"As a point solution, it does absolutely what it should. I'm not sure it needs any more. Make it cheaper."
"The UCS firmware code upgrade can totally stall- it’s a brick. Cisco support has been able to help us, but this can be better."
"We would like them to improve the validate designs. It is hard to stay in a supported config with the software and firmware versions of the platform. It's always a concern to ensure things not only work well, but they work at all. If we run into incompatibility inside of the NetApp, Cisco, or VMware versions, it can cause real issues."
"I think it could be a little bit more flexible and if they found a way to implement more of a supported cloud solution to it, I think that could help a lot."
"Setting up a Cisco USC environment can be complex."
"It could be more innovative."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is expensive and I give the cost a two out of ten."
"We have a good contact in Dell and he prepared all the information and provided everything to us."
"The price of the solution is fair, it is priced in the average range amongst competitors."
"The cost of this solution is fair."
"The price could be improved."
"The solution's price is medium."
"The pricing for this solution is good."
"The solution's pricing could be much cheaper and affordable."
"I find the licensing and pricing structure to be favorable."
"It is not cheap, but there is a return on investment in time saved and efficiency."
"We have saved time with Snapshots, SnapMirrors, and backup and DR capabilities versus other platforms that we have looked at in the past."
"Buy storage based on the solutions you need, the technologies you need, and what will make your life a lot easier down the road."
"We have saved time and money for new service deployments."
"We fear high availability so we can't buy from different providers."
"The product's pricing is high and I would rate it a nine out of ten."
"The total cost of ownership with this solution is good."
