Has supported seamless integration and offers fast implementation
This needs to be checked for the most valuable features in Dell PowerFlex for data management. It is more stable, more powerful, and has more integration features. The scalability is very good and is one of the key features of Dell PowerFlex. Its flexibility and scalability are the main reasons we can use Dell PowerFlex.

Enforces standardized setup procedures following Certified Validated Design (CVD) guidelines and offers greater flexibility and control over the system compared to traditional systems
The GUI setup follows the right setup, meaning we have to follow the CVDi.e. Certified Validated Design. Everything is clear, because you can build CI yourself, but without rules, it can be messy. With FlexPod, there are rules to follow, making it more standardized. This helps with troubleshooting and compatibility assessments, simplifying troubleshooting significantly. We also use FlexPod pre-validated architectures to validate the design. It is very, very important to us because we had a bad case in 2015 where separate items integrated poorly due to no version or firmware compatibility certification. Troubleshooting became a nightmare. So, standards are crucial for us, and everything entering production should be verified or at least documented for certification.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Perfectly suits customers dealing with the combination of future storage needs and, at the same time, keeping up their computing power."
"It is more stable, more powerful, and has more integration features."
"Saves us a lot of space in the data center."
"All of the features are useful, and we found that the issue we were having in our previous environment, which was high latency on the storage, we are not experiencing anymore because the high IOPS on the storage are very good for us."
"This product offers stability and easy management."
"The catalog of APIs for automation has been most valuable, although they are quite limited."
"The setup was very straightforward."
"The solution is quite stable."
"FlexPod simplifies infrastructure from edge to core to cloud, and that is one of the main reasons we chose FlexPod."
"FlexPod has affected the workload of our network admin team awesomely."
"The product is easy to deploy and use."
"Technical support has been good when we have contacted them in the past, and they have been helpful."
"I would say that the most valuable feature is the single-vendor support model."
"The FlexPod solution increased back-end productivity and streamlined our IT admin."
"Having VMware, Cisco and NetApp on the call when there is an issue is very valuable to us."
"From all of the feedback that I have received, it is an easy, straightforward system to set up and maintain."

Cons

"We're also running Hyper-V virtual machines. But we recently discovered that migration of the Hyper-V virtual machines is a bit challenging. Maybe if Dell EMC can come out with a tool that will make it very easy for us to migrate the Microsoft Hyper-V machine, that may be an improvement."
"It would be great to get earlier access to beta builds because we have to develop providers on our own. The APIs and enablers for custom automation could also be improved."
"The solution is not as scalable as it should be."
"In terms of improvements, I think it would help to have easier access to the cost of installing VxRack infrastructure."
"I would like to see a more user-friendly interface."
"I am not really impressed by the technical support of this solution."
"Licensing restrictions can be frustrating."
"The solution is okay overall. It could be easier to learn."
"The nature of running FlexPod in its pre-defined infrastructure is that it's not pre-configured."
"Surprise me with something I haven't thought of. Maybe it's out-of-the-box and can configure itself."
"I would like to see increased performance."
"Some of the newer storage vendors have slightly easier-to-use GUI interfaces, but I weigh that compared to the control and other features I have, such as SSHing into my NetApps."
"I would like to see, perhaps, an interface that's a little more intuitive than the existing one."
"There have been issues upgrading the firmware."
"FlexPod has saved us some time, but I must add a caveat."
"There are too many drivers and software combined all together, and we need to have compatibility between all of them."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution's pricing could be much cheaper and affordable."
"The solution is expensive and I give the cost a two out of ten."
"The solution's price is medium."
"The price of the solution is fair, it is priced in the average range amongst competitors."
"If one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the price as eight and a half. The tool is expensive."
"From my perspective, pricing is expensive. If they can reduce the pricing or offer more customer incentives, it would attract more users."
"The pricing for this solution is good."
"I rate the solution's pricing an eight out of ten."
"We have seen a five to ten percent savings on new service deployments."
"Everything is purchased, so we do not do any leasing with this product."
"Buy storage based on the solutions you need, the technologies you need, and what will make your life a lot easier down the road."
"The pricing is not cheaper, but stability is more important for us now. We focus on business gains, not static numbers."
"We pay approximately $1,400 USD in total for between five-thousand and ten-thousand ports."
"It created lower total cost of ownership. Previously, we had disparate storage and servers, and there were bits of kits everywhere. Now, we have two data centers with almost identical setups in both."
"Coming from a rack and stack server model to FlexPod, it has saved us a lot of time (approximately hundreds to thousands of hours)."
"We have reduced our manpower with the solution."
