Mainly used for requirements management, but its validation piece is not time-efficient at all
Like anything, Jama Connect relies highly on the company's culture because I found the whole review process to sound good, but it does not work in reality. Companies that use the tool are all pretty immature with requirements management, and therefore, they don't have the culture of doing that. You're always chasing them up and end up having review meetings, and no one pays attention to those review notices. The solution is very software-centric, and its validation piece is not time-efficient at all. It's very desktop verification and validation. You need to have it running and loading, which is not efficient. It's very cumbersome and overhead-intensive for verification management.

Allows us to deploy code to production without releasing certain features immediately and agile project management capabilities offer resource-leveling
My company has experienced benefits from using it or from recent updates in Azure Pipelines. For instance, we can manage different code versions from the same repository across different environments. We also use feature flags; the code is deployed, but the feature can be made visible to the end user at a later time. Additionally, as part of the deployment, we integrate automated and regression testing, which stops the deployment if testing fails, thus preventing regression bugs. This saves time and increases productivity by reducing the need for manual testing. Lastly, it integrates with the project management aspects, allowing us to link code deployments with project milestones. Azure DevOps supported our shift towards DevOps culture or practices. We shifted to the cloud environment and started migrating from our data centers about eight or nine years back. It has been a long journey. However, we have used Azure DevOps for almost five to six years in every project. We also use automation testing in Azure, so we have an integrated test suite that allows us to perform functional and regression testing effectively via the Azure DevOps system.

Quotes from Members

Pros

"In Jama Connect, users have the capability to view and manage all test cases directly within the platform and execute them. The entire product specification, spanning various domains such as electrical, mechanical, software, and testing, is consolidated within Jama Connect."
"Provides suitable tools for managing regulatory requirements."
"Technical support answers fairly quickly compared to others like IBM or Atlassian. They also offer quite a good knowledge base for advanced cases and how to plan it, etc. via videos that they provide. They are quite useful."
"You can get full traceability with any other system. It also includes a test module, and you build the traceability matrix incrementally throughout the development process."
"The user experience is better than the competition."
"The most valuable feature is the user-friendly interface."
"It is good at requirements management and test management."
"Jama Connect is a good tool for the entire software development cycle."
"I like the entire tool because it is a one-stop-solution for DevOps."
"It is a well-integrated product in terms of the development lifecycle."
"There are a lot of helpful features available for tracking dependencies."
"It's a pretty problem-free solution."
"We can eliminate some of the middleman processes."
"Azure enables us to create a staging environment through to a production environment in an easier way and then get the code and run that."
"Azure Pipeline and Azure Release are most valuable. I use Azure DevOps through pipeline and release."
"It's a complete solution that has everything you need."

Cons

"I believe one of the weak points is the reporting side. You must export inter-readable reports from Jama if you do not use the system as a repository for your design history file. Jama is great if you keep it in Jama, but reporting out requires some customization to get it right."
"There are delays sometimes from the Jama Connect team in resolving issues."
"The user interface could be modernized and the product lacks project management functionalities."
"More automation could speed up workflows, flag errors more timely, and eliminate manual steps."
"t is rather slow, so the speed of the process and consuming information should be improved. It doesn't have a nice way of viewing information. We would like to see better interfaces for consuming information."
"I think there's room for improvement, especially with the review process. Reviews should be integrated with requirement evaluation instead of being separate from it. The review should not run parallel to the requirement."
"The solution is expensive."
"There are a few areas where Jama Connect can improve. One suggestion is to enhance the built-in feature of profile generation."
"The administrative capabilities of the tool need a huge improvement. Its Wiki and reporting also need a lot of improvement. Their support can also be better."
"Some of the queries, the way they're built, need to be looked at. We need better query tools."
"When converting to DevOps, it was difficult to map."
"They have to add more features such as schedules and more flexibility in the platform."
"Microsoft could focus on refining the reporting and dashboard elements of Azure DevOps to improve it."
"I would like to see DevOps have the ability to give us something with a compatibility or traceability matrix."
"Templates could be improved."
"More features can be included."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Jama Connect is a little pricy."
"To have a single source for all the requirements and all the change requests our company gets is the most valuable feature. It has also helped us to keep track of reviews."
"The cost seems very competitive with other offerings."
"If you want to have creative licenses, pricing may be an issue with the licenses, as it can become quite expensive over time to serve many people."
"When compared to other vendors, it is cheaper."
"Most of the things that we need and use are incorporated in the corporate solution — there are no additional costs."
"It is the least expensive product in this class."
"It has an annual subscription. It can be cheaper for partners. Many open-source products are available in the market, and it would be great if they can be a little bit more competitive in terms of pricing. A lot of startups are looking for an open-source, free, or cheap solution. If they can accommodate such requirements, it will be good for the product in the long run."
"It is a subscription model and I only pay for what I use."
"With Azure, you have to pay for every user."
"It's a good tool, quite rich, it has a lot of features, and quite a lot of analytical capabilities which are built on top of it so that you can see how your projects are going and all that stuff. It's a good tool."
"I don't have a problem with the pricing."
