They have an active community of users who are willing to share their experiences and how they have extended the solution to do unusual things.
I'm a learn-by-example person, so it would be nice to have a cookbook for enterprise management. They have a rich API process, but there aren't many examples of how to do enterprise-style work. It is peculiar about how to do it for one device, but not necessarily thousands. LogicMonitor can effortlessly pull data from one item at a time. I have yet to find an excellent way to get LogicMonitor to show me all the WAN devices and how they're doing in terms of capacity.

Provides strong event correlation features, but its initial setup should be made easier
The solution's integrations are out of the box, and it is easy to integrate the tool with many technologies through its APIs. Moogsoft is always deployed on the cloud. Since it's a SaaS-based solution, it's cloud-delivered but also deploys to a hybrid or on-premises situation. The solution attaches itself to any environment size, but it's delivered via SaaS. The solution has room for improvement, but it's a pretty good technology. It does very well in delivering a big impact for businesses. Now, since it's owned by Dell and has the financial backing, it'll go from strength to strength. It's built by two very experienced co-founders who have used this type of technology before and were very much ahead of the curve. I'm still implementing the solution, and it is a platform that can deliver to something as big as HSBC. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The plugins are easy to integrate, and LogicMonitor provides these add-ons for vendors like VMware. It becomes very easy to integrate them and take the data sources."
"The breadth of its ability to monitor all our environments, putting it in one place, has been helpful. This way, we don't have to manage multiple tools and try to juggle multiple balls to keep our environment monitored. It presents a clear picture to us of what is going on."
"The alerting would be number one in my book. The thresholds for getting alerts for different criteria are pretty well-thought-out. We don't get many false positives or negatives on the alerting side. If we do get an email alert or some similar alert, we know that it is something that has to be looked at."
"One thing that's very valuable for us is the technical knowledge of the people who work with LogicMonitor. We looked at several products before we decided to use LogicMonitor, and one of the key decision-making points was the knowledge of the things that they put in the product. It provides real intelligence regarding the numbers that you see on the product, which makes it easy for us technical people to troubleshoot. Other products don't provide you with such information. You see a value going up, but you don't know what it means. LogicMonitor provides such information. For instance, if a value goes up, it says that it is probably because your disk area was too low."
"The dashboarding is very useful. Being able to create custom data sources is one of its biggest features which allows quick time to market with new features. If one of our vendors changes their data format or metrics that we should be monitoring, then we can quickly adjust to any changes in the environment in order to get a great user experience for our customers."
"LogicMonitor is good for getting a full view of your topologies. They have LiveMaps, which give you a visual representation of your infrastructure."
"Having a full team at LogicMonitor for support is super helpful as they are available all the time to answer any questions you may have."
"The most valuable feature of LogicMonitor is the infrastructure monitoring capability."
"I find the unsupervised learning algorithms for noise reduction particularly valuable. The algorithm's ability to identify and reduce noise is a feature we initially liked. The anomaly detection feature is excellent for maintaining system uptime as it helps identify problems quickly."
"I like the prediction features."
"The product currently seems to be a few steps ahead of the competition."
"The Event Management feature is quite valuable."
"Moogsoft AIOps integrates seamlessly with 50-plus IT monitoring, automation, service management, notification, and collaboration tools. It also provides a great and easy-to-use interface for observing."
"The tool's event correlation and AI are its strongest parts."
"There are AI features in Moogsoft. Moogsoft has one wonderful feature that allows you to convert multiple alarms into situations. Generally, all other MoM tools get the alarms, and then convert it into an incident directly. There is one extra layer they have added before converting any alarm into an incident. Suppose there are multiple alarms that are somehow all related to a single source of issue. It converts all the alarms into a single situation, which then gets converted into an incident."
"Incident management is streamlined with Moogsoft. One standout feature is its unique situation-creation capability, differentiating it from other fault management tools. While other tools typically convert alarms directly into tickets or incidents, Moogsoft adds a middle layer where multiple alarms can be aggregated into one incident. Moogsoft's strong AI capabilities also allow it to correlate similar alarms automatically based on past experiences."

Cons

"Their Logs feature is quite new. It is not as feature-rich as we would like it to be. There have been a couple of conversations internally around other log management tools, like Splunk, which may do more for us than LM Logs. The benefit of LogicMonitor is that our staff know how to use it, so we don't really want to move away from it, if we don't have to. I fully expect there to be more development in this area. It is their newest feature, so it is understandable that it hasn't evolved as some of the other stuff. It would be good to see a bit more development in this area, but I think the monitoring side of things is spot on."
"Dashboarding capabilities could be enhanced. It is cumbersome, you must do it all at once, and then you must repeat the process every now and then."
"There are some very specific things that need improvement in LogicMonitor. One is the lack of formatting for customized alerts, particularly the delivery of them to our email channel. We'd also like to see further customization of dashboards. Finally, something that is specific to us as an MSP that uses LogicMonitor, is white-labeling or skinning of the product, so we can make it look more customer-focused for our customers."
"LogicMonitor's reporting capabilities definitely could use an improvement. We have made do with the dashboarding and done what we can to make that work for our customers. However, there are definitely customers who would like a PDF or some kind of report along those lines, where we have been utilizing other tools to provide them. The out-of-the-box LogicMonitor reporting is the only thing that we have been less than impressed with."
"One of the areas that I sometimes find confusing is the way that the data is presented. For example, a couple of weeks back I was looking at bandwidth utilization. That's quite a difficult thing to present, but they should try to dumb down how the data is presented and simplify what they're presenting."
"One thing I would like to see is parent/child relationships and the ability to build a "suppression parent/child." For example, If I know that a top gateway is offline and I can't talk to it anymore, and anything that's connected below it or to it is also going to be offline, there is no need to alarm on those. In that situation it should create one ticket or one alarm for the parent. I know they're working towards that with their mapping technology, but it's not quite to that level where you can build out alarm logic or a correlation logic like that."
"The dashboards can be improved. They are good, but there is a pain point. To show things to management, to explain pain points to other customers, to show them exactly where we can do better, the dashboarding could be better. Dashboards need to show the key things. Nobody is going to go into the ample details of Excel sheets or HTML."
"LogicMonitor should always improve AI because we are always striving for real intelligence. An additional feature we'd like to see in the next release of LogicMonitor is more in the area of identification of when the dominant workload is working. There are certain devices and applications that have cycles of their own. Some are used primarily during prime time, and some are used during the overnight timeframe, and better identification and classification of those workloads would be helpful. For example, we could then do some more planning about, for this particular set of devices, as it has a prime time environment, and we don't want to see a 24-hour average, as we want to see what is the 75th or 90th percentile utilization during the prime time when it is being used, whenever that prime time is."
"I would like to see additional reports or information on the dashboard that includes metrics about CPU usage and memory."
"They are very much dependent on open-source technologies like RabbitMQ message bus. They are using open-source databases, Apache Tomcat, NGINX. If we face any issues with Apache Tomcat or the RabbitMQ message bus, then we do not get support from them. We have to troubleshoot it ourselves."
"I would like to see how Moogsoft integrates with the multi-cloud and brings out a single pane of glass, to see everything on one screen."
"The product roadmap doesn't align with our roadmap."
"Some additional API interfacing would be great to enable getting the data out of AIOps programmatically."
"They should consider including Chatbot."
"The tool needs to improve its support. It appears that the support responsiveness from Moogsoft is not aligned with the severity of the incident. Instead of proactively addressing issues, customers have to chase Moogsoft for resolution. In Moogsoft, unlike other tools like Splunk, the process follows a step-by-step sequence. You need to start each process in a specific order, typically following a sequence."
"Moogsoft is dependent on external products to do orchestration and SOP-based functionality."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"As a managed service provider, we have the highest level of licensing that they offer, so we don't have any extra fees. I believe there are some add-ons for some of the lower tiers of LogicMonitor service, but that's not something that we use with our agreement."
"We are on an enterprise license plan, we are paying $7.75 per device a month. That is for a commitment of 350 devices. Anything that is over the 350 is charged at 1.2 times the rate; 1.2 times $7.75 would be the overage charge. We are looking at increasing our commitment to either 450 or 500 devices. It changes our pricing if we go to 450 devices, bringing it from $7.75 down to $7.70. If we go for 500 devices, it brings it from $7.75 down to $7.50. We will probably factor in the volume discount drop from $7.75 to $7.50 in our decision of whether we uplift or not. We also have some cloud monitors, which are about $500 a month."
"It definitely pays for itself in the amount of time we're not spending with false errors or things that we haven't quite dealt with monitoring. It has been good cost-wise."
"The features were very valuable to us because we could consolidate them into one platform and have a good user experience with the platform, our accounts, and the support team. That was the key driver for us. That was what we were looking for. We looked for a comprehensive solution that could provide advanced features all in one platform, and LogicMonitor was the solution that we chose. It definitely has a premium price. However, you are getting what you pay for in a very effective way. That was important in our decision-making.The features were very valuable to us because we could consolidate them into one platform and have a good user experience with the platform, our accounts, and the support team. "In terms of pricing, I would rate LogicMonitor four out of five."
"The solution is not expensive."
"The pricing can be a little aggressive. Right now, it's a bit much for smaller organizations to adopt it. But comparatively, it also provides good features."
"It's an enterprise-grade solution and competitively priced compared to the other solutions that are out there... Our organization is not huge, but LogicMonitor is worth every penny that we pay for it. I've never heard anyone say, "I'm not sure that we're getting good value for money from this product." It's integral to our business."
"It's a very cost-effective and competitive product."
"The solution is very good from a business impact point of view, but it's quite expensive because it's an enterprise-grade solution."
"Moogsoft's licensing is consumption-based, so the price may increase depending on the environment."
"When compared to other solutions, it is quite good."
"As for pricing, Moogsoft recently updated their pricing model, and we're still evaluating it. It's an area where clarity is needed with the new alert-based pricing model."
