Provides connection with roaming users with easy deployment
It is easy to integrate other solutions with Connect Secure. We are currently using Ivanti Connect Secure with client-based connectivity. Implementing clientless connectivity enable us to connect without the need for any client software. This allow us to access office resources such as URL-based or SAP SaaS-based systems. Additionally, Ivanti is working on enhancing this feature, which is a positive development. In terms of competition, backups from other providers like Cisco AnyConnect and Fortinet are also considered. I've worked with Cisco Connect and FortiGate, which are relatively easy to work with. FortiGate does have quite a few bugs, making some applications not visible, which can cause discomfort during implementation. The only concern arises from the vulnerabilities that are found. Ivanti Connect Secure's security is a priority, since they're operating on a legacy OS platform. Approximately 22,000 Ivanti users have transitioned from Juniper to Pulse Secure and then to Ivanti. I strongly recommend avoiding the use of any legacy platforms for security reasons. It's advisable to utilize the latest platforms equipped with comprehensive security management features. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Affordable, secures all devices, and helps users to access corporate resources from anywhere
The deployment model for Intune is cloud basically, but for other MDM solutions, it's on-prem because the government and healthcare sectors prefer to use the on-prem solution. The deployment duration depends on the project timeline and the complexity of the deployment. A fresh Intune deployment is straightforward. We just need to do the configuration and create configuration profiles. For example, for Windows OS, we can enroll 1,000 devices in a month or something like that depending on the availability of the machine. Everything is configured in the backend, so they just need to power on the device, and everything works as expected, and everything is pushed down. The number of people required depends on how many machines need to be deployed and users' availability. The model that we're having right now is that for a new device, it's straightaway delivered to the user. So, there is no involvement of IT because it's an autopilot deployment. When a user powers on a device, the configuration kicks in. The users just log in using their user accounts, and that's all. So, one IT person is enough to configure the backend.

Secure and integrates well but needs better customization
The initial setup was not complicated. There may be a bit of difficulty in connecting all the components together. However, I have a year of experience, so, for me, it wasn't hard. It gets easier with time. Likely in five more years, it will be even simpler to deploy. I had some additional documentation as well that helped. The deployment itself took about one month. That is a typical timeframe. Our strategy was to mainly manage all tablets and mobile devices from a single platform. Our main strategy was to connect all devices and be able to track them in case they were stolen or they were losing data. With this solution, we are able to set up and manage everything centrally.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It's a very convenient and user-friendly application."
"The new UI that they are providing right now is very good."
"The most valuable features of Pulse Connect Secure are multi-factor authentications, and VPNs and SSL VPNs we are using."
"From an end-user perspective, the setup phase is easy."
"It's quite stable."
"The most valuable feature is being able to securely connect and use virtual desktops."
"VPN tunneling is a very valuable feature of Pulse Connect Secure. I also like that it is straightforward to use, and you can see traffic logs on it."
"The stability of the product is its most valuable feature."
"A valuable feature is user enrollment, where users can enroll their devices in their organizations themselves."
"While I don't think you can ever have full visibility and control, Intune certainly allows us to see the applications being used and tells us if things like Windows patches aren't applied to machines. It does a good job. That visibility makes life a little easier."
"Based on my experience, I find Intune very flexible for managing Windows devices. We can use scripting, and we can make use of the self-service portal or the company portal to publish some of the applications for Windows."
"The solution has reduced the risk of security breaches by 30%."
"The dashboards, the security, and the customization capabilities work very well for us."
"It is a very helpful solution."
"It has helped with compliance. It has helped to ensure that devices comply with the organization's policy. If they are not compliant and secure, they cannot access the resources."
"The solution is easy to use."
"I would rate the stability as eight out of ten."
"Workspace ONE adds a lot of value compared to Microsoft because Microsoft is a late entry into the market, and they're still developing their product from an end-user perspective. Workspace ONE has a slight edge because of AirWatch. VMware has developed its product over a longer period of time, so they have better integrations as a whole solution."
"You can upgrade and migrate the existing group policies that we use for VMware Workspace ONE for the active directory. We can push the policies and group policies. We can migrate it and manage it from VMware Workspace ONE."
"No issues with scalability."
"It's a tool that can be managed in various departments."
"We can do single sign-on and make use of the same user account to log into multiple applications."
"People who want to adopt this solution may be thinking about it from the end-user's perspective, but this solution is also very friendly for the people who manage it. It's administration-friendly."
"The feature with the highest rating for me is its employee management. I can also praise how versatile it is in terms of operating systems. It has good support for multiple operating systems and can easily manage them all. Not just that, but it can also support any kind of tool that can be run on all these operating systems."

Cons

"We want to switch to another solution because there are some challenges with the support from Pulse. The quality of documentation is also not good. It is sometimes very hard to find documentation that provides a solution and describes how all this works."
"Setup is complex. A few users had some issues with it."
"Ivanti Connect Secure needs to have faster connections. It also needs to improve the stability."
"The support team of the product needs improvement. Sometimes we have issues with multiple authentications, but there is no help from the support team."
"At the moment, Pulse Connect Secure is a pretty good solution, and I don't see any issues with it. Currently, I'm not aware of a new or additional feature that's needed in Pulse Connect Secure, but it would be good if the team could look at how the speed of connection could be increased. Though it's quite seamless and I didn't face any problem with the speed, it would be better to improve the speed and keep going forward, especially as the industry's changing and people would love connections to be a lot faster."
"An area for improvement in Pulse Connect Secure is the concurrent connections, particularly needing a license if you want to use Pulse Connect Secure with your Microsoft or Windows machine."
"Zero test FDP (Fraud Protection and Prevention) should be improved."
"The most valuable features of Pulse Connect Secure are the user-friendly connection and interconnecting."
"There are some issues using the solution with macOS and iOS, and it offers limited granular control with them. Intune works better on Windows and Android."
"We only have major classifications for iOS and Android, but there are different brands that have different cycles of updates. If they can fine-tune it to make it more brand-specific, that would be even better."
"We need the capabilities of the Cloud Management Gateway (CMG) to be enhanced through Intune instead of Azure."
"Microsoft Intune fails a lot when it comes to device compliance."
"An issue we have run into with Microsoft Endpoint Manager is that we cannot patch third-party products like Adobe and Chrome with it."
"There can be some added features, such as an improved dashboard. Any new feature that could be a benefit to our customers would be good."
"It would be beneficial to have a more straightforward understanding of Intune's capabilities, presented in a simplified manner."
"Its configuration is fairly complicated. You have to do quite a bit of discovery to be able to deploy it for a customer. You have to ask them a lot of questions. So, its initial deployment is the biggest challenge. They should make it easier to deploy with the use of Wizards or something else. During the deployment stage, there could be profiles for the customers who are particularly wanting to use certain feature sets of Intune."
"The location service could improve and more integration with other devices, such as Android enterprise and Apple devices."
"There should be better compatibility with Linux devices."
"VMware Workspace ONE for the new users or the new clients that they try to procure and learn it, there can have difficulties. It does not have user-friendly portals. The portal seems to be more user-friendly in Microsoft solutions."
"The mobile device repository is somewhat difficult to manage with a large user base."
"There are some bugs that our team needs to work around. It required some API integration required because visitor integration was not there. For example, we are currently working on a tunnel issue, and VMware doesn't have this solution."
"The portal is not user-friendly."
"The integration on the application side could improve."
"When we had some issues, the support did not respond quickly, and they did not provide a solution."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Pulse Connect Secure is relatively cost-effective."
"The pricing is quite nominal. We pay on a yearly basis."
"The cost of the product is high, but worth it because of the utility and great product support."
"The price of Pulse Connect Secure is expensive."
"I rate the product price a six to seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"The pricing for Pulse Connect Secure is not low and not high, so it's good. It's a six out of ten for me, price-wise."
"A license is required for you to use Pulse Connect Secure, but I'm not aware of how much it costs."
"There is a cost benefit of using Microsoft Intune because of the packaging with other Microsoft products."
"It comes as a bundle, so you do not really know what the prices are. Microsoft does not break it down to the user cost for us. It is just bundled with our E5 license."
"The clients pay for a license and each can have a different type of license, such as an E3 or E5."
"It's affordable. It's cheaper if you have an Office 365, E5, or E3 subscription because everything is there."
"Intune is included in the Microsoft 365 licensing package that we have."
"The product is offered as part of a Microsoft standard bundle. The pricing can be competitive to Airwatch, and Maas360."
"Intune is inexpensive. It also comes bundled in some Office 365 licenses, so you can choose to purchase it separately or as a package."
"The pricing is inherently reasonable, as Microsoft leverages market insights to maintain the total cost of ownership at around ninety to ninety-five percent of what would be incurred in an on-premise scenario."
"My guess is that its licensing was yearly. There was probably no fee in addition to the standard licensing fee."
"It is quite expensive, but I think large companies have agreements with these organizations that provide remote monitoring for phones, and they get massive discounts. The public price does not reflect what they pay. You won't get the same pricing if you're buying for 10 employees versus 1,000 employees. On the public price, you get perhaps a 10% discount, but if you're buying 1,000, the discount could be really massive, especially if you signed a contract for a number of years."
"Currently, the product is priced at around 50 USD."
"For the moment, we have a multi-year contract, meaning that we cannot go with a different solution at this time even if the price should prove more favorable."
"The price of VMware Workspace ONE is reasonable."
"Depending on the requirements of users, there is a need to make yearly payments towards the licensing costs attached to the product."
"VMware Workspace ONE is not cheap; it's quite expensive. However, in the end, they gave us a reasonable price."
"If you have a host of custom requirements (including licensing), make sure to set aside enough time for the initial setup because it can take up to a few weeks depending on how complex your environment is."
