Everything has worked better since we started using it
Sometimes the syncing is inconsistent. I'm confident that the devices are checking in every eight hours, but sometimes the devices aren't picking up the settings as quickly as I would expect. Some features haven't been updated in a while, and Microsoft doesn't seem interested in developing them. Unless you talk to an engineer, you don't know whether there will be an update. There are communication issues, so you might start working with a feature without knowing if it will be deprecated six months from now. Some reporting areas still need development. For example, I noticed that the reporting for driver updates is still confusing.

Customizable with a self-service portal and a good security posture
Policies enabled for self-service should have keywords attached, so that multiple search terms can direct to a single preferred result, without having to clutter the description field. The new remote support tool is still lacking features compared to other industry solutions. There is no built-in functionality for tracking changes over time for multiple devices. All patch reporting is only a current snapshot. The password management tools are fairly outdated. The web console (GUI) is slow with maddening UI/UX inconsistencies.

The solution is stable, scalable, and offers single sign-on
I give the solution a nine out of ten. I suggest if a person wants to start using Workspace ONE, they should make use of the cloud instance instead of the on-premise instance. There is an on-premise instance available, but the cloud instance is a better option now. I advise them to make use of the cloud instance. This is because management-wise, there is no need to manage a server. For example, we don't need to buy a server, and we don't need to buy network switches, which are required for the on-premise. At the same time, I can advise setting up all the functionalities or whatever functionalities are available for the trial version. We need to check if the Workspace ONE integration includes Azure AD or other identity providers. A lot of applications are using these providers for authentication, such as Ping, Okta, and others. If the Workspace ONE integration doesn't include these providers, the company might have to find a different solution. Security projects should also be considered. Specifically, if the solution can integrate with local security solutions to secure mobile devices.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For the price, the features included with Microsoft are appealing."
"The system itself is great."
"I like that we can implement conditional access."
"The most valuable feature is Intune's ability to push out updates for the security and antivirus. I also like Intune's copilot and the ability to automate processes. For example, if you have 5,000 employees who are issued new PCs and you need to set them up with everything they need."
"It's really easy to access."
"I would rate the stability of Microsoft Intune nine out of ten."
"The most valuable feature of Intune is the central dashboard for compliance and policy management."
"This product works very well for companies already using the full Microsoft suite."
"I am most excited about a feature that is called User-Initialed Enrollment."
"The remote wipe and lock features are by far the best tools."
"From the reviews that we are getting, the feedback from the client, the tool is very good on the Jamf side - especially for the Macs."
"Jamf is stable, reliable, secure and you have lots of customization options."
"It's as easy as procuring the licensing for the apps and then setting it to the volume purchasing back in Jamf."
"Self Service empowers the user and allows them to install the software they need when they need it."
"The zero-day support regarding new Apple hardware and Apple operating systems is very good."
"We are able to manage our full fleet of devices and can simply integrate with all of our systems."
"It has all of the features that we need to use and that we want to use."
"It is like any other mobile solution. It gives us the ability to control remotely, and that is what we like. We can wipe out and deploy remotely."
"Cloud-based VMware Workspace ONE is very good. It is easy to deploy and manage. Maintenance is also quite simple."
"The most valuable feature is policy-driven control of the devices."
"The solution can scale."
"I would rate the stability as eight out of ten."
"The solution's Self-Service feature is valuable because it gives a single managed application that users can download and use based on their preferences and productivity."
"We can impose cybersecurity requirements."

Cons

"Microsoft Intune's support for Mac devices is lacking and could be improved."
"Intune has some limitations when it comes to application updates for third-party applications. You can schedule an update, but when it's a package setup, you need to supercede and replace it each time."
"The reports that are generated aren't so great. They don't give a lot of meaning so far, but that could be down to user knowledge than the actual reporting side of things. I'm not a big user of it, but I was a bigger user of MaaS360, and we used to be able to run weekly and monthly reports. In the case of any deviations. we'd get a warning immediately. That's not so easy to do or to get in place for Intune. This could be just a user issue, but when I compare both, that's the only thing that's lacking for me."
"It needs incorporation of Knox, ZeroTouch, etc."
"We faced issues with macOS support. The product should have better inventory and asset management."
"An area for improvement is the absence of seamless integration, particularly with external dashboards."
"Microsoft Intune could improve in reporting data for endpoints and fleets. Enhanced capabilities to run queries and gather specific device data to identify trends or issues would be beneficial. The feature parity for MacOS and handling devices from an MDM perspective is not comprehensive. Consolidation of these functionalities within Intune would simplify processes and finances."
"Microsoft Intune needs to improve the initial login process."
"They need to alphabetize payloads."
"There needs to be a mass policy change tool."
"It would be nice if there was a built-in means of renaming computers that worked reliably."
"I would like to see either a report section or an integration with a new reporting module to allow us to pull real metrics from the system easily."
"We need better reporting options."
"Apple does block certain actions from happening or disallows Jamf from making certain changes."
"It would be amazing if they would give Apple TV management its own space in Jamf Pro and not just mix it in with devices."
"Jamf should give the option to download individual device policy logs, as this capability would really help to diagnose issues."
"Lacks a modern enterprise mobility management platform."
"The bigger vendors like VMware, Insight, and MobileIron can assign engineers to customers. You can work with them to develop the right competency to use the product."
"We're unhappy with the quality of support we get for it. We're unhappy with how upgrades occur, so we are migrating away from it. We have an on-premise AirWatch solution and for us to do upgrades we have to call AirWatch to be able to perform the upgrades. They're busy, and scheduling it is not timely enough for us."
"The pricing could always be better."
"There is a need for better user lifecycle management within VMware Identity Manager, along with better user governance...The scalability of the product needs to improve."
"I would like to see improvements made to both the support, and the pricing."
"It's a costly product. It would help if they could offer it at a discount."
"The mobile SSO doesn't work as well on Android."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Cost is not my department, but the product is included in the E5 license that we already pay for every user, so no additional cost is incurred."
"Intune is available as an individual product, but it also comes with Office 365 Premium or an Enterprise license, and the price varies for each version."
"The price of Intune is often included as part of a bundle with other Microsoft licenses, which makes it somewhat cheaper."
"It's monthly for us, but it's built into the license cost that we pay our IT each month. It's maybe 129 Kroner per head, which translates to £10. There are some additional costs. Our IT had to set up and configure their own server, so there is an extra cost for that, but I'm not sure what that costs."
"I rate Intune five out of 10 for pricing. It's expensive."
"The product is relatively pricey, but considering its benefits, I'd say it's fair. The benefits outweigh the expensive licensing fees, especially for large organizations, but medium-sized and smaller businesses may be unable to afford it."
"It is not a cheap solution. The price for a device when you start using it at a large scale can be improved. It is covered under our enterprise agreement. We pay once a year. I am not aware of any additional costs."
"There is a license required to use this solution. However, it was part of a bundle package. Microsoft Intune is far less expensive than other solutions, such as Workspace ONE."
"This is a pricey solution."
"Don’t go into a sales call without knowing all the details of your system because Jamf has a ton of tools outside of Jamf Pro to offer and knowing them ahead of time is a must."
"Jamf is quite up there. It wasn't the cheapest solution, but it's reasonable. Apigee was cheaper than Jamf."
"If you have the in-house capability to support Jamf, then paying for onboarding / JumpStart training is a no brainer."
"JumpStart is available at an additional cost."
"Cloud is worth the small increase in price, but make the switch before you need it, and not during a global pandemic."
"The price difference between Jamf Pro and VMware Workspace One is not very much, but when counting the cost of my time, Jamf Pro is clearly much better."
"I think it pays for itself to let Jamf host the server."
"For most of the projects, we use the standard license but for complex ones, we use the older type of processes, integrations, and licenses inside the solution."
"It's an expensive tool."
"The price of VMware Workspace ONE is expensive. However, for the features that are provided, the price is reasonable. There is a subscription to use the solution."
"The pricing currently is higher than the competition."
"It's definitely a bit on the expensive side. It is more for smaller organizations and not large, massive enterprises. I am not sure about any additional costs. As far as we could tell, the billing was what the billing was."
"A person should pay towards the licensing costs of VMware Identity Manager on a yearly or monthly basis, but government and public sector units cannot for a perpetual licensing model."
"AirWatch would benefit from reducing the license pricing per user per month. Microsoft bundles everything, and then that bundling makes the product free for the customers."
"I rate the product price a five on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive."
