Easy to set it up, good support but we need to use APIs for external integration
When it comes to external systems, we need to use APIs. So, it needs some extra effort. When we are integrating with other applications, readily available connectors make it easy. However, when it comes to external applications, connectivity isn't as straightforward. We need to use RESTful APIs to get and push messages. While it's doable, it's not as simple as using the pre-built connectors. In future releases, Anypoint MQ can increase the message size limit a little bit. We faced issues while working with SAP integrations. SAP can have very large files, and we couldn't handle those within the Anypoint MQ limit.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Anypoint MQ is it comes with MuleSoft so we don't have to maintain separate components."
"The solution is very scalable with solid performance and the capability of extending it using any custom Java in case you don't have anything out of the box. MDP is strong. It is good compared to other products regarding its capabilities in managing or orchestrating the issue load."
"The flexibility has been great overall."
"The monitoring capabilities of this product are very good because of the feedback it supplies in statistics."
"The most valuable features for us are flexibility, all the features related to connectivity with multiple connectors to the business, and the flexibility of on-premises and cloud deployments."
"The solution's market place for different kinds of integration platforms is the most valuable feature."
"The tool helps with order management and automates the enterprise's orchestration, invoice creation, product maintenance, and product life cycle. The API manager feature helps us configure, secure, and call APIs."
"The solution is scalable, and its performance is quite good."
"The pre-delivered content from the SAP cloud platform is definitely a strength."
"Though I'm not a massive fan of the SAP Cloud Platform, it has good features, such as its integration with other SAP solutions. When integrating with SAP or even the SAP sister company SuccessFactors and other companies SAP has acquired, you also enjoy data features in the SAP Cloud Platform, such as role-based permissions and other characteristics you can import from SAP."
"Cloud Platform's stability is great."
"The HANA replications are very useful."
"The ability to expand it whenever required has been great — it's very simple."
"The tool's most valuable aspects are the niche technologies and the latest editions. The way these updates are rolled out makes it easy to manage because clients and customers are not responsible for keeping everything up to date. It's SAP's responsibility, which makes it much easier to take advantage of the new features they roll out every month."
"The most valuable feature is integration."
"The features I found most valuable are the integration options."

Cons

"The cost of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required, especially when compared to other tools, like Dell Boomi or Oracle."
"The stability could be better."
"Adding connectors for new upcoming applications would add extra value to this product."
"We would like an entire DevOps in place in this particular solution."
"An on-premise setup requires special skills and you need a lot of professional services."
"It has different types of subscriptions. For platinum or lower subscriptions, there are not too many things that can be done. We don't see many features. They should release a basic version that has logging and monitoring features. These features should come with Mule Anypoint Platform for free instead of making customers pay separately for these features. Its dashboard can be improved to have a lot of charts so that it is easy to visualize information. The utilization part can be improved. The dashboard is good currently, but it can be better. Other solutions like Elastic have a good dashboard, and they allow you to administer the product from the UI. Currently, for RTF, there is a different dashboard or utility. It would be good to include the same utility in the cloud solution. It would be good if there is a centralized repository that includes the links to the information about various troubleshooting issues. The documentation is there currently, and it is good, but the troubleshooting information is too scattered. We have to go to different links to find troubleshooting information. This kind of centralized repository would be helpful for new customers who are implementing this solution. It will be helpful to see different kinds of issues that can occur."
"It would be better if we had a clearer view of the solution's future releases."
"The compatibility with vendors can be improved. Microsoft Azure heavily uses single software."
"The product's price is an area of concern where improvements are required."
"From what I understand, the SAP Cloud Platform is for implementation on AWS or Azure, and it's not meant to be a full-fledged cloud solution, so while using the platform, an area for improvement is that it has fewer offerings and is less flexible when compared to AWS. AWS has a lot more flexibility than the SAP Cloud Platform. I've also used Azure in college and AWS in between, and I prefer AWS over the SAP Cloud Platform. The only reason I would ever stick with the SAP Cloud Platform is to create applications integrated with SAP or with other companies within SAP, such as SuccessFactors. When you go into the SAP Cloud Platform web page, it's a bit bland and has relatively limited offerings. For example, there doesn't seem to be in-house MongoDB support, but I realize there's in-house support for the PostgreSQL database, so there are fewer offerings in the SAP Cloud Platform. Yes, you can always go for a database on the actual MongoDB server rather than depending on the offerings of the SAP Cloud Platform. However, it's still better to support MongoDB from the platform, so payment is consolidated, rather than going to a different location to make a payment. Another room for improvement in the SAP Cloud Platform is the need to create an SAP subaccount if you need to use the platform unless you have an SSO login by Google or if you're using a different identity provider such as Microsoft or Google. Instead of requiring dependency on SAP, it would be good if users could use the SAP Cloud Platform even without a subaccount on SAP. For example, when hosting an application on AWS or Azure, you don't have to create an account in Amazon or Microsoft. You can still do it using Google. You can use almost anything, so I'd like SAP to improve by removing the dependency, particularly the requirement to create an SAP account to use the SAP Cloud Platform."
"It would be helpful to have additional samples for SoapUI that include interface methodologies and templates."
"Usability is a challenge most of the time and not being able to get all of the information."
"The product needs improvement for serverless native integrations. They should opt for serverless features as all the customers worldwide choose cloud-based products."
"What I would like to see improved is the learning curve."
"The addition of more industry use cases would be an improvement."
"The solution requires more flexibility overall."
