Valuable remote access feature, highly stable, and scalable
There are multiple Take Controls, but I am using N-able Take Control as part of my dashboard. I don't use it in remote access to repair N-able Take Control has saved me a lot of time driving back and forth to the customer's site. I do not need to do this by using the solution. The most valuable…

Needs a better management interface, requires more support, and is complex to set up
Initially, the setup itself is quite complex. We had bought what VMware called a starter kit, which came with some professional services to get us up and running with the product. I'd rate it a four out of five in terms of ease of deployment as we did have those professional services to help us. Unfortunately, the implementation, I would have to call a fail. We had several existing devices, and installing the product properly involved wiping the phone and installing and then restoring the user's information. And we had a very large resistance to that approach from our client community. We ended up installing more of a BYOD model, which limited the value of the platform to our organization.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable part of N-able Take Control is being able to remotely access your customer's site. You are able to view their network. Once you have it set up, it's always available. N-able Take Control can be used even when other remote access controls have been made."
"Take Control enables you to collaborate with end users. It's for supporting a workstation where you want the person on the other side to see you moving their mouse, and you can work with them."
"The most valuable feature is the User Experience Designer, which has been very helpful for our project."
"The feature with the highest rating for me is its employee management. I can also praise how versatile it is in terms of operating systems. It has good support for multiple operating systems and can easily manage them all. Not just that, but it can also support any kind of tool that can be run on all these operating systems."
"It is easy to start something and work from scratch."
"The most valuable features are the ones that control the leaking."
"If an outside person tries to track or hack information, it is not possible without us being notified."
"The solution can scale."
"It helps the end users to work on the road without needing to set up all kinds of VPN connections"
"Personally, VMware Identity Manager is useful for comparison purposes so that I can provide better solutions to my company's customers."

Cons

"The dashboards I do not use because there are issues. The solution monitors your antivirus and other programs but it does not seem to work well."
"We've seen some latency problems in AWS environments. Aside from that, it's a pretty solid service."
"I would like to have better support for multi-cloud sessions."
"We'd like the customization to be better."
"vIDM could be improved with the multi-tenant capabilities that VMware tends to offer—features like customization branding and the integration of the app catalog based on the branding. Since the integration has been at top-level OGs, you were not able to then do rebranding if you were required to use specific user groups to highlight specific applications. At the time, I was personally opening feature requests for these things. I haven't worked with the latest release, so I don't know if these features were already deployed or not."
"VMware Workspace ONE sometimes has bugs that prevent it from working as intended or expected. Generally, these bugs can lead to unexpected results and hinder effectiveness."
"The technical support could be improved."
"There is a need for better user lifecycle management within VMware Identity Manager, along with better user governance...The scalability of the product needs to improve."
"There are other solutions that might be better for certain use cases. This is not an all-purpose solution."
"We have a lot of problems when it comes to integrating with Active Directory."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"N-able Take Control charges you a monthly fee for every customer that you have booked in, and it used to be inexpensive but it's a little bit more expensive now."
"Licensing fees are paid on a monthly basis."
"Its pricing was okay for our company."
"Our organization has stopped using the solution because it was expensive."
"For big users, it's around $500."
"While the platform offers comprehensive solutions, it can be expensive, especially if you only need it for occasional testing and deployment."
"The pricing currently is higher than the competition."
"Workspace ONE is on the higher end of the pricing band when compared to other players in the market."
"All licenses from VMware are only yearly. They start with a yearly license and look for a three-year commitment and yearly PO."
