Offers features like compliance, backup, and vulnerability assessment that are key in volatile security environment
The initial setup is pretty straightforward. All the modules within SolarWinds, once you bring in the product, require only a few tweaks and aren't complex. For deployment, I'd rate my experience with the initial setup a nine out of ten, with ten being easy. The entire product, including NCM, IPAM, and Network Topology, is very user-friendly. I would have rated it ten, but a few configurations within the modules bring it down to nine. Maintenance: Not a lot of maintenance is required unless there are patches released by SolarWinds. Otherwise, it mostly involves hardware or virtual machine patching. The product itself doesn't require much maintenance, just scheduled maintenance windows for application and database restarts.

Pros

"Available on any device and can be accessed on a wide area network."
"The most valuable features are for the ADMs and the overall monitoring environment."
"An essential component is the Director, which provides detailed insights into sessions, including identifying session failures, connection issues, user lockouts, etc. It presents a list of problems to address, enabling you to click on them and resolve them efficiently."
"Just one solution can handle thousands of users... So, it is a very convenient tool to use."
"We use the product for load balancing and as a reverse proxy solution."
"We like the periodic upgrades and backups, also made via ADMs, and it makes our environment much more robust and reliable."
"The analytics are a great feature."
"Content filtering, security layer, and application customization features are the most valuable."
"The most valuable features the solution offers are compliance, reliability, and information about reliability."
"This solution has helped our organization by allowing us to store all the device configurations for the various network devices in NCM and making it easy for us to retrieve and look them over."
"We push all our configurations to the servers with ease and the logs capture almost all the transactions needed for an internal audit."
"The solution's view is very nice, and they have a great customized dashboard."
"The scanning features have proven to be highly valuable, particularly due to the comprehensive information they provide."
"The feature that I really enjoy is the ability to script changes across all of your devices."
"Compared to other vendors, like NetBrain, managing the solution is easy. They made it very user-friendly."
"It is pretty straightforward to set up."

Cons

"The tool's pricing is a pain point since we have many cheaper alternatives."
"They need to make the solution a little more familiar with easy study guides, learning videos, etc."
"Citrix ADM needs to improve on its additional features and reduce the communication ports."
"When a new version comes out, sometimes, my existing configuration gets wiped out. They should work on this so that my existing configuration doesn't get impacted with an upgrade to a newer version. There could also reduce frequent firmware upgrade activities and have a stable version so that once we upgrade it, we don't have to upgrade it for two to three years."
"Some features of Citrix ADM are available on the cloud, which could really be helpful if they were available on an on-premise version."
"Deployment is complicated."
"I would like to see the virtual and desktop license included in the pricing."
"The interface could be improved, some customers struggle with that."
"Releasing a product compatible with operating systems other than Windows would be advantageous."
"The AI features do not work well."
"It would be great if they include a network service manager, network performance manager, or a privileged assessment in the next release."
"For each device, when you open the network performance monitor, it will give you all of the information about the device, but many of the natural configuration management features are not on that page."
"The solution could have better integration."
"Our experience has shown that most of the problems we've had with SolarWinds NCM are related to software issues."
"When we run the SolarWinds NCM jobs at the cellular line, it runs in the morning. They're just not finishing. We're getting false processing."
"The network logs could be improved. When the error logs come across with those false positive alarms in the error logs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its licensing cost is much higher than other products, but it is acceptable because it is a one-time investment, and we are getting our requirements fulfilled when we buy this product. So, there is no issue with the pricing."
"The pricing could be lower."
"I rate the tool's pricing an eight out of ten."
"Citrix ADM costs us approximately $5000 per month."
"We have to pay additionally for its support and maintenance."
"The price of the solution is high compared to other solutions."
"You have a base license for 50 devices, and then you can add more licenses as you go."
"Pricing is reasonable and competitive."
"I have a yearly subscription."
"With a minimal bundle, we pay about $3000 a year in licensing costs. If you have multiple devices in your network, you must buy the bundle, which is 100% identical for your infrastructure. If you have 15 devices, you need 15 licenses, for example. That's one bundle. You don't pay for anything over and above that."
"There is a license for the use of this solution and it is priced well, there is a lot of value for the money."
"The pricing is good."
