Has provided seamless virtualization and centralized control with strong security and reliable performance
I find almost every feature of Nutanix AHV Virtualization useful, as it's a very nice HCI solution from Nutanix. AHV is their native product, so it's very integrated with all the hardware they provide. Integration is very nice with the baseline hardware. We are using all built-in security features of Nutanix AHV Virtualization, which include encryption. It is very effective in protecting our VMs, and it is very secure. The impact of AHV, such as micro-segmentation, is very effective for us and it's working as per our requirements. We are very happy with the features. Role-Based Access is also a very nice feature for us to define to whom to give admin access and to whom to give read-only access. This kind of authentication helps us distribute tasks within the teams. Using Nutanix AHV Virtualization in a single management pane is very important to me, as it allows us to see everything related to our hardware, software, servers, and VMs from one console. We can reach everything from this one console, which provides a nice inside view for our software, hardware applications, server details, issues, alerts, or any unwanted activity. We are using the non-disruptive operations feature because Nutanix AHV Virtualization is in our production environment, and this feature helps us perform any activity without any downtime.

Significant backup for containers, but the customer service is terrible
Anyone considering this solution should not compare it to the old versions. They should be a partner with Virtuozzo and run all the certifications. Also, they need a good lab to understand the technology and how they can apply that technology conveniently. This is very commercial software. It does not have support, so you will need to be hands-on. I would rate Odin Virtuozzo a six out of 10 overall.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With AHV, you can run micro-segmentation, which is, on the network security level, to have network virtualization across clouds."
"This solution is very stable and it has been running for the last three months, with no issues."
"Nutanix is good for new implementations on the VM side. It's very good for disaster recovery and final storage."
"Nutanix AHV's most valuable feature is NetFlow."
"Simplicity is the most valuable feature."
"The feature that has had the most impact is data locality. That is a feature that makes Nutanix different from other hypervisors. It helps us to get application performance that is probably double what we got with the legacy, three-tier architecture."
"The most valuable feature is the integration between storage and compute services."
"The most valuable feature of Nutanix AHV is that it can be managed through Hyper-V, which is Microsoft's hypervisor, VMware, and Citrix XenServer."
"When you run templates on the containers on Virtuozzo they have a lot of back-ups."

Cons

"Nutanix AHV Virtualization's price is very high."
"The integration capabilities of Nutanix AHV Virtualization is an area with certain shortcomings that need improvement."
"It's not a very scalable product."
"To face no complications in our company, we had to switch off virtual machines one after the other before heading to Nutanix platform and going to edge services to switch off and turn off everything, making it a challenging process for me."
"Lacks integration with the cloud or other solutions."
"Nutanix AHV Virtualization is CLI-based, and improvements in GUI, making it more user-friendly, are necessary as we have faced issues committing changes through GUI."
"There is no web interface for AHV."
"Honestly, there's a lot to work on the product, especially for someone like me who has worked on VMware. VMware offers a significant level of customization when configuring virtual machines, and that level of detail is not as pronounced on Nutanix AHV Virtualization."
"Odin Virtuozzo has poor support and needs to improve."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"AHV is free, it's an open-source solution."
"We have to pay a yearly licensing fee for the solution."
"Looking at the hardware and the software licenses, too, it might look expensive."
"They should make the product more competitive by working on their licensing model. Lowering the price would help make it more affordable."
"The pricing depends upon the licenses, considering the number of devices."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is that there is no licensing fee."
"When comparing this solution to others on the market, such as VMware and Citrix, the price could be reduced."
"The licensing overall from Nutanix AHV is very good compared to other solutions."
"The license for Odin Virtuozzo is based on consumption on demand."
