With regularly occurring releases, a QA team member can schedule tests, let the tests run unattended, and then examine the results
With certainty, the best feature of UFT is its compatibility with so many products, tools and technologies. It is a challenge currently to find a single tool on the market besides UFT that will successfully work for so many projects and environments. For example, UFT supports GUI testing of Oracle, PeopleSoft, PowerBuilder, SAP (v7.20), Siebel, Stingray, Terminal Emulator, Putty, and Windows Objects (particularly Dialog Boxes). Furthermore, UFT has the built-in functionality to import Excel input files. For Web browsers, UFT 12.54 supports IE9, IE10, IE11, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome (versions 31.0 to 54.9), Firefox (versions 27.0 to 49.0). Besides GUI testing, UFT supports database testing and API testing (Docker, WSDL, and SOAP). For the first time ever, HP started to expand the testing capabilities of UFT (QTP) beyond Windows beginning with UFT 12.00. A UFT user can now run tests on Web applications on a Safari browser that is running on a remote Mac computer.

Good Tool for Non Technical Users.
I think Qualitia's scriptless test automation tool is best used on teams that have Manual QA Testers who are looking to start to automate regression tests but are not very technical in nature. I think recognizing the overall strategy of implementing a test automation solution is extremely important when choosing a tool. If the tests are just going to be run from a local machine, then maybe a full solution like this is not what you need. But if you want to run tests on different servers and have them included in your build process, then a solution like Qualitia would help your team out. Just remember that Qualitia's technical support team is really something that will set their product apart from other similar solutions. They really do care about their customers success.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"For traditional automation, approximately half of our tests end up automated. Therefore, we are saving half the testing time by pushing it off to automation. That gives it an intrinsic benefit of more time for manual testers and business testers to work on possibly more important and interesting things. For some of our applications, they don't just have to do happy path testing anymore, they can go more in-depth and breadth into the process."
"UFT provides object identification, which is one of the easiest to use."
"With frequent releases, using automation to perform regression testing can save us huge amount of time and resources."
"The ease of record and playback as well as descriptive programming are the most valuable features of UFT (QTP)."
"The stop automation is a great feature."
"It helps in identifying defects earlier. With manual testing, that 15-day timeline meant there were times when we would find defects on the 11th or 12th day of the cycle, but with automation we are able to run the complete suite within a day and we are able to find the failures. It helps us to provide early feedback."
"It is easy to automate and new personnel can start learning automation using UFT One. You don't have to learn any scripting."
"The solution's recording option is the most beneficial for test script creation and maintenance."
"The best feature of this solution is the fact that it offers scriptless automation. You don't need to know how to code or program to use it."

Cons

"It doesn't support Telerik UI controls and we are currently looking for a patch for this."
"One of the drawbacks is that mobile performance testing is in need of improvement."
"The product doesn't provide free training for the basic features."
"The user interface could be improved"
"There is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to friction-free continuous testing across the software life cycle, as a local installation is required to run UFT."
"Sometimes, the results' file size can be intense. I wish it was a little more compact."
"The AI feature needs improvement. For banking applications, we input formatted text from documents, but the AI feature is recognizing three fields as one field, e.g., for a phone number, it puts all 10 digits in the international code or country code. Then, the script fails."
"They should include AI-based testing features."
"The integrations for this solutions could be improved, specifically for Slack."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"OpenText UFT One is a very expensive solution."
"It's a yearly subscription. There are no additional costs to the standard subscription."
"There are no additional costs involved apart from the standard license."
"The price is reasonable."
"Compared to other products, the solution is very expensive."
"The licensing and pricing model is confusing."
"The tool's price is high."
"The price is only $3,000. I don't know how many QA analysts you would have in any given company. Probably no more than five or 10. So if it's a large corporation, it can easily afford $15,000 to $25,000. I don't see that being an issue."
"Pricing is on a higher end but the competition was even more expensive. With this considered, it is a competitive solution."
