Centralizes our enterprise-wide functions but could benefit from cloud migration
We have dealt with customer service, and it was awful. For a system this size, it felt like we were merely buying software from them. They weren't really partnered with us on it. Reporting bugs and getting feedback, as well as having engineers work on issues, was very transactional. There was no real ownership on Oracle's part. During several support cases, it became difficult to determine ownership at Oracle and get status updates. The on-premises Oracle support is not great in my experience, and I think this is true in the industry. We've read about their software as a solution, and theoretically, their SaaS portal support is a lot better.

Provides seamless integration of different modules in one place
Certain add-ons like quality control, payroll, and HRMS are not part of the SAP S/4HANA Cloud. SAP S/4HANA Cloud doesn't provide a quality control module. SAP S/4HANA Cloud does not have its own payroll and HRMS system. The partners develop their own cloud and integrate with the solution. There are certain modules specific to some industries, and SAP S/4HANA Cloud doesn't deal with those modules. Every partner of SAP S/4HANA Cloud has to develop its own and then integrate and certify with that solution. We can't say that these modules are part of SAP S/4HANA Cloud. There is a little area of improvement that SAP has to opt for particular types of solutions like QC, payroll, and HRMS. The graphics of SAP S/4HANA Cloud are not user-friendly. They don't look like they belong to a branded solution that costs too much. The solution's user interface is not appealing or user-friendly. On a scale from one to ten, where one is bad and ten is good, I rate the solution's user interface a five out of ten. SAP S/4HANA Cloud has built-in reports that are hard-coated. We have to alter or modify built-in reports in different marking segments, but there are no options for that. We have to build complete reports from scratch, and SAP-developed reports are not used in the market. SAP should provide a tool for customizing its developed reports so that there should not be a process of reengineering or reinventing the process.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It can be an essential solution for those who can not just push to the cloud because they have critical data restrictions."
"Oracle EBS adapts to our business rules, so we don't have to change them, whereas SAP is rigid. We need to change our business rules to implement SAP. Oracle's reporting is also excellent and it's easier for our technical team to customize the solution compared to SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, and other products."
"I have found the solution to have a good interface, security, and is user-friendly."
"Oracle is a decent, robust solution that has been tested and used for many years. It can do everything."
"The most valuable features of Oracle EBS are its ease of use, integration capabilities, and the General Ledger reporting, including the FSG reporting."
"The supplier invoice payment process is very easy and is integrated from the requisition to the payment (and to creating the asset)."
"The order management is excellent."
"The interface is easy to use."
"The solution links everything and allows us to integrate into our entire supply chain."
"The SAP S/4HANA Cloud has greatly improved our business processes. With SAP hosting the backend, database (HANA), and the application, we get all new features and security patches seamlessly according to SAP's schedule. Everything, including certifications and integrations, stays up to date for the customer. We achieve almost zero downtime, which is very important. The cloud setup provides redundancy, so if something happens at one site, it's seamless to switch."
"Speed has improved and getting analytical reports has been simplified."
"I like that it saves every transaction, so anything is traceable."
"It is a stable solution...It is a scalable solution."
"SAP S4HANA Cloud is stable, and its computational power and speed have improved in later versions."
"It is stable and scalable. In the S4HANA plain version, they have new dashboards and things like that."
"I come from a functional consultancy background, and S/4HANA provides excellent procurement solutions for inventory management. One of S/4HANA's best features in the manufacturing module is the ability to calculate product costs."

Cons

"Oracle E-Business Suite uses an old technology (Forms), which is Java-based."
"I would like an end-to-end in terms of processes. There are different modules, however, there's not that end-to-end that we are looking for in terms of process automation."
"Sometimes I have issues with the performance tuning."
"It is still a little outdated as far as what we consider a twenty-first century software. You're still using Oracle forms, that sort of thing."
"Oracle E-Business Suite is hard and takes six months to one year to implement."
"Not user friendly."
"A downside of Oracle E-Business Suite is its interface because it's less user-friendly than the latest cloud solutions. As an organization, Oracle now has more interest in cloud applications, so nowadays, it doesn't focus much on Oracle E-Business Suite, an on-premises solution, so this is another downside."
"They should have a nicer way to handle very high volumes of data because we deal with really high volumes, and sometimes, we end up with performance issues."
"We have encountered challenges with integration projects, particularly between SAP and non-SAP systems, which have caused delays."
"The pricing is high."
"The user experience has some room for improvement. S/4HANA covers various scenarios based on the best business practices, but users complain about its user experience. It is not a user-friendly ERP solution. I rate the current UX seven out of 10."
"SAP promotes the cloud, but customers are worried about the security of their data. SAP suggests they have SAP S4HANA with RISE, which is a private cloud environment, but it is difficult to sell many of the customers on the cloud concept because of the privacy issues."
"SAP S4HANA Cloud's production planning screens could be improved."
"There is room for improvement in SAP S/4HANA Cloud, particularly in enhancing the application's response time."
"Customer service and support's response time is really long."
"The only thing that could be improved would be the complexity of the initial setup."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Oracle prices are better in Vietnam and more flexible. If we need to customize something in Oracle, it's very flexible and easy to customize."
"Licensing is on a yearly basis. There is an initial cost, and the standard fee is 22% per year."
"In my opinion, the prices for Oracle ERP are reasonable, especially considering the various discounts that are often available."
"Oracle generally gives a lot of discounts."
"The price of the solution is extremely high."
"The pricing of the solution is at about $700-$750 per year."
"Oracle's pricing is on the higher end."
"Compared to other vendors like SAP or Microsoft, the prices for Oracle are reasonable, but they could always be lower."
"The price of SAP S/4HANA Cloud is expensive. However, the benefits are good. We did not purchase any upgrades."
"The tool's pricing is reasonable."
"Pricing wise, SAP S4HANA Cloud is very expensive. The licensing cost can be 100,000 euros per year, depending on the number of users in your company."
"The license for S/4HANA is expensive, and the licensing structure is hard to understand. The admin license is something like 500 euros per user. Other ERP solutions allowed you to pick only the modules you need. The SAP ECC version requires you to take all the modules even if you are not using them."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing a seven out of ten."
"Its pricing is way over any of the other ERPs. I'd rate it one out of ten in terms of pricing."
"SAP S/4 Hana isn't cheap, but its value depends on how much you can leverage from it. It's not just about the system but how well your people are trained to use it and adapt to derive benefits."
"This is a pricey solution that best serves large enterprises. Be sure to ensure that your company's requirements need to be fulfilled by SAP. There are many other ERP's that are cheaper yet highly functional. However, it is still cheaper than some of the competition (i.e. Oracle, ESD, etc.)"
