The product lacks a lot of features and technology, though it is the most stable solution in the market
The product lacks a lot of features and technology. It is really limited. The tool must improve in almost all areas. There are a lot of things that should be improved in the manufacturing and shop floor, logistics and warehousing, and master data both from a functionality and technology standpoint. The solution must have a better WMS to improve the logistics and workflow and handle the processes within the system. The collaboration must be improved. The product must be more flexible and allow customization. It must allow the users to personalize the application in a better way. The tool lacks a lot in the purchasing area. The documents and process of purchasing are limited and simple. In the sales domain, there are no enhancements to calculate forecast and shipment programs. We cannot optimize transportation.
VARUN-JAIN - PeerSpot reviewer
The solution is highly scalable, with solid performance and integration
S/4HANA implementation is always complex because you need to configure it to work with your infrastructure. SAP only provides the license, not hardware, but they will connect you with a partner like HPE or IBM. It's extremely costly if you ask for SAP to implement it, but you can deploy through some vendor like HCL, TC, Infosys, or Capgemini, and then you need to enlist a hardware partner. The complexity also varies by industry. If it's a small industry with $40 million of revenue annually, the business processes will be simple. However, deployment is tricky for heavy manufacturing, energy, etc.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution serves its purpose and does what we need it to do."
"It is the most stable solution that I've ever worked with."
"I have no issues with the stability of the product, as everything seems to be fine."
"SAP S/4HANA is the preferred database because of its scalability, faster accessibility, compatibility, and other well-suited features for large data sets."
"It is exclusive to have SAP in your company. It is the best system in the world."
"SAP S/4HANA is a comprehensive ERP solution that provides better performance."
"SAP S/4HANA dominates around 70 percent of the ERP market in Chile, and I believe this isn't merely coincidental. I've always maintained that if someone believes SAP S/4HANA lacks a certain functionality, they haven't explored it thoroughly. However, there's a widespread lack of understanding regarding its full potential and how to configure it."
"The core accounting model is robust, so we don't have any issues with it. It has industry-specialized modules like retail, hospitality, and manufacturing. Many industrial-specific modules are very helpful. It's a very robust, reliable, and simple-to-use product. In my experience, it's straightforward."
"A user-friendly UI with good documentation."
"The ability to optimize performance by allowing both data transactions and analytics on a single platform is particularly valuable."

Cons

"Just implementing an ERP system takes a lot of time."
"The product lacks a lot of features and technology."
"I think anything related to manufacturing public clouds could be improved."
"The product's use of resources could be improved, as it is quite intensive at the moment."
"The analytics part of SAP S/4HANA needs to be improved"
"It's an expensive solution"
"Starting out on the solution can be a bit complex and difficult."
"SAP S/4HANA could improve by making the interface easier to use."
"This solution works with the configuration, if the prerequisites are very clear and can be configured it works perfectly. If you need to simulate something, as a predictive tool this kind of simulation is not very accurate and it has limitations. This is something that could improve."
"It is simple to implement SAP S4HANA. If you are already in this type of environment, then the transition is not very complex. However, if you do not then it can be difficult."
