Helps us block ports, like TCP and UDP, and we don't need to use Active Directory GPOs to block anything
One suggestion I have for both regular and mobile would be to collect all the information about installed software, such as versions, and give that information to the manager to help with software management. That would be a huge advantage for everyone who administers these tools. For example, EDR gives me some applications with a version linked to a CVE or a MITRE attack. That's really interesting, But we don't know about other software that is installed and that means we need to install and use other software on the workstation to collect that information. If Symantec could do that, it would help managers improve their security, as they would know all the software installed on each device. Because Symantec is already installed on a workstation, it would not be difficult for the agent to collect information about the software installed. It wouldn't need to do anything other than collect and share the information. That would be a huge advantage for the administrator. The more information we have about a device, the more secure we can make it. For example, there are types of software that can open a port that an attacker can use. If we know that such software is installed, we could just act before something happens. If Symantec could collect that software information, it would be amazing.

Is able to make several campaigns work in parallel, but the user interface needs improvement
It's mainly used by the cybersecurity team for Windows patching and deployment of some software solutions I like the fact that you can create patching campaigns depending on the area of your network that you want to address first. I like the ability it has to make several campaigns that work in…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable feature of Symantec Endpoint Security is the protection of our systems."
"Symantec End-User Endpoint Security is scalable."
"Some of the features that were important were a built-in firewall and device control."
"This solution helps in that I can control quite a few computers from our central location, with ease."
"The solution offers very good security features and is comparable to Sophos."
"This solution has helped us because it is really useful for blocking all kinds of viruses."
"Scalability."
"One of the features is the ability to frequently get virus signature updates."
"Threat hunting is a very good feature on Tanium. We have just started using it and have not used it extensively."
"I'm not so familiar with the tool but I like the interaction of the console to the picture. Patching is the primary model I have been focusing on for the last couple of weeks. So I have created a proof of concept environment and have been checking the available features."
"Tanium's most valuable features are patch management, inventory, and distribution software."
"The interrogation piece was the most valuable feature because it was very detailed."
"The security features are very valuable."
"Tanium’s linear-chain architecture is valuable."
"Tanium has made the process of detecting threats more proactive with its detection. So, the process is easier and more efficient."
"For incident response tasks, all these tasks can get done in minutes with minimal disruption to the end-user."

Cons

"The detection and response can always be improved."
"We were having a problem in Version 14, where the client machines used to go into the health state and once it restarted, and never came back again."
"The support can be wanting. Sometimes the time to resolution is longer than I would expect."
"Symantec needs to develop some reporting features and notifications. For instance, if the server is not on or it's shut down. There should also be time-based USB control."
"When, Microsoft releases a new OS version twice a year, you never know if the current version of Symantec Endpoint Protection will support it. You can have a lag between when Microsoft releases a new client - and then the current version doesn't work correctly - and it could be some months between updates from Symantec."
"In the next release of this solution, I would like to see more to do with malware, encryption technology, and controlling mobile devices."
"Its interface needs improvement. Its interface is very old, and it needs a new look. Other solutions, such as Sophos and BitDefender, have a better and more modern interface, whereas Symantec has had the same interface for a while. There has been no enhancement in the interface. They should update and provide a better interface in 2022 for a better user experience for their customers."
"The biggest thing I would like to see is malware remediation, if there is some kind of outbreak. We'd like to see better remediation and better detection and response. It's pretty good at capturing things, but it doesn't stop everything, so better machine learning would be helpful."
"Any movement into a SaaS solution has challenges since the processes and data flows are not well defined. Hence, you need to build it at the same time."
"Tanium’s scalability could be improved."
"The most painful thing is the interface. It's a bit unclear sometimes."
"The solution can give a lot of false positives."
"It is not really additional functions, or the features that are needed, rather the complexity would be reduced based on the number of modules required to put together a comprehensive operational security and risk compliance model."
"The main issues are the network connection because different customers have issues with their networks. It's difficult implementing this type of solution because the network is the main feature in the architecture for these types of solutions. Tanium could improve by creating some network optimization."
"The solution lacks mobility."
"They could improve the UI."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its price is fair."
"It is the better product, even if it is a little on the higher side."
"I’d say SEP deserves the money."
"Its price should be reasonable."
"When it comes to pricing, Sophos is preferrable to Symantec."
"The prices fluctuate, but this year I think it was maybe around $12,000."
"It could be cheaper."
"One great benefit is we do not need to activate a license for every endpoint. The price is fair."
"The solution offers value for money."
"The solution is expensive but it's a good investment."
"Tanium is a more expensive solution in Latin America than some of the competitors, such as BigFix."
"It is higher than some competitors in the market."
"The product's pricing differs from region to region depending on negotiations and the number of endpoints."
"It's an expensive solution. It would be nice if the cost were lower."
"There is an annual license required to use this solution."
