Has a lot of use cases, great automation capabilities, and helpful support
I'd rate the initial setup eight out of ten. It's pretty easy to implement. We use Azure Virtual Machines to deploy the robots and usually use a lot of the Azure services in conjunction with the robots. The cloud is on UiPath's automation cloud. That's where we have our servers - to manage the robust deployed data on multiple virtual machines. In terms of maintenance, there are always releases and updates, and then you can usually design your own robots to watch over the other robots, which is really interesting. You have the flexibility to make your own monitoring; if it sees something wrong, you can enter a ticket and then dispatch it to the support team to respond to it. My whole developer team is involved in maintenance; however, I have specific support team members. There's 28 developers and seven support team members in that group.

Helps improve our accuracy and compliance, but the analytics module can be confusing
Machine learning models for document-heavy processes have room for improvement because they require significant effort to train and update. WorkFusion can be easy to use for non-technical people. It has two modules: a workspace for analysts to use on a daily basis, and an analytics module for tracking throughput, recall, precision, and other model metrics. The workspace is very easy to use, similar to any other case management tool. The analytics module, on the other hand, can be confusing at times and could benefit from some improvements. The biggest challenge I've had with WorkFusion is employee turnover. On both of my projects with them, the primary developer, the PMO, and some of the product SMEs have all turned over. There's been a lot of turnover in their organization over the past two years.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The speed of development in UiPath is very fast."
"UiPath integrates well with Elasticsearch, which is a great search engine."
"The solution is stable. I don't see any problems."
"Anything you can do on a computer with enough effort, you can get the robot to do it."
"UiPath is much easier to learn than other tools. Its interface is not that complicated. It is very user-friendly."
"The features that are most valuable are Excel Automation, Web Automation, Web Scrapping, and CV Automation."
"The tool's most valuable feature is its embedded activities."
"It is easy to set up drag-and-drop features to configure workflows."
"It really does help by either freeing up people's time to focus on more value-added tasks or reducing headcount. We generally have other things that we can get people to do, helping make the employees' work more meaningful since they are not having to do the mundane stuff."
"The cognitive features of this solution are good."
"WorkFusion helps by speeding up processes. The process takes time. It has business costs associated because there are people waiting to take the next steps in the process. The end result of waiting, whether it is an internal or external team, is that they are delayed. Therefore, it helps us in speeding up business processes and improving employee morale, as people don't have to do repetitive work anymore."
"It takes care of simple tasks so users can focus more on exceptions than on regular use cases. They only focus on orders where they need to handle an exception, some information was not given, or there is an issue that they had to focus on. The rest of it goes straight through without human touch. We want to see our employees as engineers, wherein they think and solve problems, not necessarily have to do repetitive tasks. I think WorkFusion helps with avoiding repetitive tasks."
"In our opinion this group are the leaders in providing RPA solutions."
"The document processing engine is good. We're extracting around 70 data points from a given document, and we have an automated extraction rate of 80 percent for those fields."
"For automating mundane activities, I can recommend WorkFusion."
"The most valuable features are the recorder because it's user-friendly and the integration with other tools Excel."

Cons

"The Document Understanding feature should be more developed and advanced. For example, you have to make a template with their ML model. Currently, we can't use our own ML model, and we have to use the UiPath ML model. UiPath has only a few ML models right now. They should come up with more ML models or make it easier for us to use our own ML model."
"For UiPath Orchestrator and Studio, if I want to watch the performance of my machines at a specific time or time range, there is no option for that. There are options for one day or week, but there is no option to specify a date such as from Nov 1 to Nov 3. This option should be there for queues and monitoring."
"While UiPath works super well with other applications and browsers and app pages that we use in the RedLINK wires, when it comes to experience, sometimes it doesn't detect what it's supposed to be doing as easily."
"If I can get a little bit more data and a little bit more customization on Orchestrator, that would be really great."
"Sometimes, we do find that the bots misbehave or there are bugs that prevent the bot from executing even when the business cases are completely listed out. It could be that the cloud Orchestrator doesn't send the trigger to the runner systems to start the process because of small internet fluctuation. Sometimes, we find that the processes are killing the execution themselves and going into a halt state without any errors in the program. So, we do see some reliability issues, but these happen once in 20 or 30 instances. They are not on a regular basis. However, when that happens, it does create panic, and we have to immediately rectify it. If they can focus on that, it would be good."
"The biggest struggle that we've had is understanding how to get in and properly set up all the architecture and orchestrate everything correctly from the get-go rather than trial and error and then fixing it as we go."
"It would be helpful if UiPath could provide developers to help us with the on-premises setup. Without that, we have to figure out how we do the setup."
"You can't get the response that you want until the people in the field decide that they want to change and adopt it. That will be the challenge. Managing the change is huge for us. It's always an obstacle. It's not that, can you automate something, it's more of a question of, internally, will they let you automate something?"
"It is difficult for non-technical users to use WorkFusion. If we really want to build automation, we definitely need Java developers. Their RPA is not for non-technical people. If I look at competing products, like Automation Anywhere, UiPath, Blue Prism, or even Power Automate, a non-technical person can build basic automations and deploy them. Since non-technical people can easily build basic automations, they can be deployed in no time. With WorkFusion, there isn't a similar feature that works well. One needs to write code from scratch to build automation. That is definitely a deterrent if we really want to do quick, dirty automation. I would not rate WorkFusion very high on their no-code, low-code paradigm. In this area, I would definitely expect them to improve."
"So far, we have developed only one automation using machine learning. The results were less than optimal. Part of this could be because of the use case that was selected. Overall, our experience was suboptimal. WorkFusion was an outstanding partner in terms of providing their experts for free to help us on that particular use case, but we still have a lot of things to figure out in terms of how to use its machine learning capability."
"The problem with the solution is that it is agnostic, so it's not made for banks. Sometimes we are challenged because of this. We have to make everything from scratch to make it work for our clients."
"One thing we didn't like was their OCR solution. We felt it's somewhat inefficient."
"The product could do more to expand its 'codeless' coding options by adding drag-and-drop assistance in building bots for non-technical users."
"We had some issues in the past, but it is fairly stable now. From what I hear, it is more stable in the later versions. With version 10.1.4, there were some issues relating to load distribution. However, it is good now."
"If we're talking from a developer perspective, the task of actually building automation is not ideal. That's not their strong side."
"Where it can be improved is the speed. I built two bots, one with WorkFusion and the same thing with Python. My feeling was that the speed at which Python did things, how fast it did them, was quite cool. It was faster."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"UiPath is too expensive."
"Our licensing costs are roughly 1.1 million Danish krones a year."
"The solution's pricing is reasonable and lower than its competitors."
"In India, where I am from, UiPath is expensive. But customers in other regions, like Europe or the US, will not find it so expensive."
"The pricing is moderate."
"We are set up for annual licensing and will be taking the time to renew."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I am using the Community Edition and am not familiar with the cost of the paid editions."
"Find it online."
"My client is using RPA Express, which is available for them to use free of charge."
"In addition to the licensing fee, there is also an implementation cost for each use case and technical support costs."
"One upgrade took a year to do, from the first server being built to the last bot being migrated. This was because we had to migrate all our existing bots. This is the same process and time frame that we are expecting towards the upcoming upgrade. I will end up spending half a million dollars to do an upgrade."
"I can't speak to pricing. It's a contract signed by upper management."
"As a first-time customer who wants to engage with WorkFusion, not working for my company, then I would want to do a PoC. The cost is prohibitive because they will ask me to get infrastructure with six or seven servers. Then, you must buy a WorkFusion license to do a PoC, which is expensive. I would then have to set up a team to build the PoC and see the benefits. That is very prohibitive."
"The solution was not the cheapest, but it was also not the most expensive. Workfusion was very open to negotiating pricing and to working within the objectives of our firm."
"We are on an annual contract to use the solution."
