Easy to use and set up; has an analytics feature and good integration
Pros and Cons
  • "MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is a great solution. I like it very much because of its speed of delivery and because it allows API-led integration."
  • "An area for improvement in MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is the process of applying policies because it's manual. It would be great if MuleSoft could make the process easier, particularly by automating it."

What is our primary use case?

I use MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager to manage and work on APIs for my company.

What is most valuable?

MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is a great solution. I like it very much because of its speed of delivery and because it allows API-led integration.

I also find MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager beneficial because it gives me a lot of information about who's consuming my APIs. It also has an analytics feature.

As a solution, it's easy to use. I also like that you can manage APIs easily on it.

What needs improvement?

An area for improvement in MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is the process of applying policies because it's manual. It would be great if MuleSoft could make the process easier, particularly by automating it.

I also want to see more features added to MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager. One example is deploying an API without manual intervention to make processes faster.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager for five years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I found the stability of MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager good, so the solution is a ten out of ten in that area.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Scalability is a problem in MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager mainly because of the cost to scale it. Scaling the solution is very expensive, so it's a real problem because my company needs to create a lot of architecture to solve the scalability issue, mainly because it has many APIs, which means more interfaces and channels. After all, one API is bound to a channel point of entry, and you have to separate each application or two or three applications to improve scalability, which is very difficult for my company.

Scalability-wise, I rate MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager as five out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager provided excellent technical support, so it's a ten for me on a scale of one to ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used a different solution before MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager but went with MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager for digital transformation.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup for MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager was easy.

I'm giving it a ten out of ten in terms of setup.

My company has a lot of APIs, so for thirty applications, the total time it took to deploy MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager was two hours.

What about the implementation team?

Our in-house team deployed MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager for the company.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I want MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager to be cheaper because when you scale up, it becomes very costly. Price-wise, I'd give it a seven out of ten.

What other advice do I have?

I work as a tech lead. My company is a MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager customer.

About ten people from different departments take care of the deployment and maintenance of MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager.

I'd tell others planning to implement MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager that scaling the solution can be costly. Hence, it's essential to factor in the costs. I'd also tell others that MuleSoft Anypoint API Manager is easy to use. Still, as a solution, it would benefit more from improved DevOps to make it even easier for users and result in more business for MuleSoft.

I'm rating the solution eight out of ten because it's easier to run and manage than others.

Improves data exchange processes by enhancing communication between various messaging queues
Pros and Cons
  • "The product improved data exchange processes by enhancing communication between various messaging queues. There was a heavy reliance on queues for indexing clusters and data transfer in this particular environment. The product facilitated the transfer of messages from one queue to another, ensuring data flow and processing across different topics."
  • "We have issues with the tool's pricing. The product seemed to have most of the features required for the tasks I was working on. I didn't feel the need for additional features. However, one aspect that could be improved is making the platform more user-friendly for non-technical users. While it's not necessarily complex, it does require some familiarity. Unlike open-source tools available online, accessing and using this product may not be as straightforward. It needs to offer training to its users."

API management tool that is reliable with a wide range of connectors that are readily available
Pros and Cons
  • "When using the Mulesoft Anypoint Platform, it has a wide range of connectors that are readily available to connect with the multiple applications."
  • "Migrating any existing middleware platform to Mulesoft is difficult because of the transformation, conversion and integration involved. Better tools are needed to achieve quicker time to market."

What is our primary use case?

I have used this solution for an Europe based customer. They have ticketing tools like ServiceNow and other applications in their multiple locations including Asia, the Pacific and North America. The idea was to integrate data communication between those applications.

What is most valuable?

When using the Mulesoft Anypoint Platform, it has a wide range of connectors that are readily available to connect with the multiple applications. They have specifically categorized the API application into three parts; backend APIs, middle APIs (which handles a business process), and front end layer APIs. These distributed API applications make Mulesoft a well matured and organized platform.

What needs improvement?

Migrating any existing middleware platform to Mulesoft is difficult because of the transformation, conversion and integration involved. Better tools are needed to achieve quicker time to market.

The security infrastructure for this solution could be improved. Other API tools have more security options available. API Connect, for example, has specifically designed policies where I can customize my security framework for internal and external users. That kind of infrastructure is not available with Mulesoft.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Mulesoft API Management for one year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

This is a stable solution if the hardware is set up properly. You need to monitor the load of the APIs and the bandwidth they use to achieve maximum throughput.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

This is a scalable solution.

How are customer service and support?

We have hardly needed assistance from a technical perspective because their infrastructure is powerful and after sale service is good. I would rate it a four out of five.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is complex when it comes to establishing the connectivity between on-premise services and cloud services. Deployment took between six and eight months. We have two junior resources who are responsible for maintenance but the solution does not require much maintenance after being pushed to production.

What was our ROI?

Mulesoft is great in terms of reusability. When I design APIs for backend application, they can be reused because they are independent of the business flow. It is a good overall solution compared to other API management technologies with a quick time to value.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The pricing for this solution is cheaper than GCP and Bluemix.

What other advice do I have?

I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

Is easy to deploy and configure, and is highly stable and usable
Pros and Cons
  • "MuleSoft has given the API solution a 3-tiered architecture. This means that there are multiple channels available in one application. The usability is very high."
  • "MuleSoft has advanced features but is slower."

What is most valuable?

You can find SLA there. You can do the security level that you need. You can also do any authentication, authorization, implementation, etc.

You can create it yourself and publish it. While publishing, if there is a unique ID generated by that, it will be implemented there while creating the application. While deploying to the cloud, the Mule runtime is internally created and embedded in the API Manager.

All of these features are available in the cloud, and you can configure it. It is of great benefit to the customer.

MuleSoft has given the API solution a 3-tiered architecture. This means that there are multiple channels available in one application. The usability is very high.

What needs improvement?

MuleSoft has advanced features but is slower.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been working with this solution since 2017.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is highly stable, and that's why MuleSoft is booming. Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager internally uses the AWS availability zone. When one availability zone is down, then it will automatically route to another availability zone. You will not find this kind of stability on-premises because you can have server issues. However, on the cloud it's very stable and very reliable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

MuleSoft has horizontal and vertical scaling capabilities.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support is good, but it is a new solution, so it will take time to mature. I would give technical support a nine out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is easy. You may have some issues when you deploy it for the first time if the team is new, but once you do it, the next time it will not take much time.

You just need half a day or one day of training, and any team member can implement the solution.

Maintenance wise, it doesn't require a lot because it's on the cloud. You do have to monitor some things on your end, but other maintenance issues are taken care of by MuleSoft.

What other advice do I have?

You will need to look at your requirements and choose the solution.

Message Broker, ACE only has ESB and does not have the gateway. You will have to buy additional software, but MuleSoft has embedded both API and ESB. This is called method-oriented architecture.

In terms of the speed and process, I prefer Message Broker, ACE technology IIB. In my current project, we are processing 25 MB to 50 MB files, and Message Broker is able to do it. However, with MuleSoft it would take more time. MuleSoft has advanced features but is slower.

I would rate Mulesoft Anypoint API Manager at ten on a scale from one to ten.

Integrates with endpoints in backend
Pros and Cons
  • "We're using MuleSoft API Manager to integrate with an endpoint in our backend system to import much information into Salesforce. Other tools didn't allow for as many API calls, so we used it to create a new endpoint."
  • "The tool needs to improve customization and interface."

What is our primary use case?

We're using MuleSoft API Manager to integrate with an endpoint in our backend system to import much information into Salesforce. Other tools didn't allow for as many API calls, so we used it to create a new endpoint.

What needs improvement?

The tool needs to improve customization and interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using the product for a year.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate the solution's scalability a nine out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The technical support has been very responsive. I've opened three cases, and the previous ones were solved quickly.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Positive

How was the initial setup?

I'm currently deploying MuleSoft API Manager, but it's not fully deployed. There have been some challenges, mainly related to IP restrictions, which I believe are on our side. The testing phase took about two months due to people being on holiday. I'm hoping the actual deployment will go quickly, but I'm unsure how long it might take as technical issues could arise.

What was our ROI?

I can't say definitively about cost savings since we're still in the testing phase. MuleSoft uses separate testing and production environments, with more resources allocated to production. So far, in testing, it works fine and does everything it needs to, but I'm not sure how performance will compare in production.

What other advice do I have?

We faced IP restriction challenges, which we resolved by changing the authentication method from an API key. This solved the issue for now, but we'll need to verify it again in production.

Based on my 2-3 years of experience with MuleSoft products, I'd rate MuleSoft API Manager eight out of ten.

Stable and easy to set up with great connectors
Pros and Cons
  • "Anypoint API Manager's most valuable feature is its connectors."
  • "In the next release, Mulesoft should make it easier for people who don't have the native connectors to build their own rather than using the APA from the power platform or outlet."

What is our primary use case?

This solution was primarily used for data retrieval.

What is most valuable?

Anypoint API Manager's most valuable feature is its connectors.

What needs improvement?

In the next release, Mulesoft should make it easier for people who don't have the native connectors to build their own rather than using the APA from the power platform or outlet.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The stability is pretty good, I haven't seen any issues with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I didn't see any issues while using the APIs and connectors, which means it's scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was pretty straightforward because we purchased support from Mulesoft, so their engineers took care of it. However, using it within the user-integrated cloud was a bit tricky.

What other advice do I have?

I would give Anypoint API Manager a rating of nine out of ten.

Highly capable API manager
Pros and Cons
  • "Anypoint is very capable in terms of scalability."
  • "Anypoint could be improved by making it more open and configurable for small companies, who tend not to consider the solution as it's expensive and requires a lot of costs upfront."

What is our primary use case?

I mainly use Anypoint for data integration and flow, and securing, transferring, and monitoring data logs.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the API manager.

What needs improvement?

Anypoint could be improved by making it more open and configurable for small companies, who tend not to consider the solution as it's expensive and requires a lot of costs upfront.

For how long have I used the solution?

I've been using this solution for more than two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Anypoint's reliability is very good, we've had no issues with it.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Anypoint is very capable in terms of scalability.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is pretty straightforward and takes a couple of hours, but it depends very much on the licensing because not all licenses cover all the features MuleSoft has. Sometimes, especially on CloudHub, it can look like everything will be nice and easy, but if you're expecting to have some features and don't see them, you have to go back to MuleSoft and find out what's happening.

What about the implementation team?

We used an in-house team to implement since we are experts on this solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Anypoint is the most expensive solution on the market, as far as I know, though it's also the most capable.

What other advice do I have?

I would advise making sure your enterprise is following an API-led connectivity approach and is prepared for digital transformation. Also, make sure that there are no internal conflicts between the product and internal strategic goals and needs so that it will be relevant and synchronized. I would rate Anypoint as ten out of ten.
