We have experience with Microsoft 365, SAP Business One, Oracle Fusion, and Odoo. After evaluating all four ERPs, we found Odoo to be a comfortable choice for us due to its user-friendly interface, customization options, and the convenience of working within our own environment.
Developer at BRB Group
Has a user-friendly interface and good customization options
Pros and Cons
- "With Odoo, being open source is advantageous because we have access to the source code for whatever we develop. This gives us the flexibility to make additions, deletions, or modifications according to our needs without any restrictions. There are no predefined formats that limit our customization options."
- "It's too early to make a definitive statement about Odoo as we are currently in the implementation stages. Once the implementation is complete and the system is up and running, we'll be able to provide feedback on its effectiveness and suitability for our needs. The implementation is very straightforward, and the system is easy to operate, similar to working with a spreadsheet. If there's one thing that could significantly enhance the system, it would be incorporating more AI capabilities."

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
I explored the Odoo community on their website, particularly the section dedicated to Pakistan. It provides insights into the number of users in different industries. Being in the IT sector, I found valuable information and features tailored to my industry. I engaged with other users and received positive feedback and recommendations for Odoo.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
So far, it's working well. Since it's an open-source solution, we have the flexibility to integrate or develop almost anything into it. It appears to be user-friendly, and even for users with legacy systems, it seems easy to navigate and use.
How are customer service and support?
We haven't reached that stage yet, but so far, the response time has been good. The real test will be when everything is fully implemented.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Positive
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have experience with SAP HANA and SAP 355, and both are excellent. However, the choice depends on the scope of work, financial considerations, and resource availability. Odoo turned out to be the most economical and user-friendly option for us, especially considering the challenges in finding SAP resources in Pakistan.
How was the initial setup?
The ease of implementation is quite good. Currently, I would rate it around seven to eight. We have completed a stage of the implementation process, and currently, we are working on meeting all the T.V. requirements. As for integrations, we are actively involved in two tasks. First, we are importing five years' worth of data into Odoo using their well-structured templates and CSV file capabilities. Second, we are integrating with Primera, and so far, the testing has been successful, and everything seems to be working well.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Odoo is straightforward in terms of costs. You pay the vendor for both the software and implementation. We selected one of the twelve certified vendors for implementation in our local area, opting for the vendor named Four Zero Five.
What other advice do I have?
I would keep my rating at eight. The deployment has been smooth, with minimal changes required. However, I may have a more comprehensive assessment after Monday when the Odoo team is scheduled to explain various aspects, considering the numerous modules we have installed.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud

Along with an easy setup phase, the tool offers ample free modules to its users
Pros and Cons
- "Odoo's setup phase is easy."
- "Odoo provides their apps on mobile, but it is not good enough, especially for my clients."
What is our primary use case?
I use Odoo for one of my clients based in Tunisia. I choose Odoo for my client since it is easier than SIP, in my opinion.
Odoo is used for managing businesses, like purchasing or making a product, and for other related activities.
What is most valuable?
Of the modules offered by Odoo and many of them are free, while some need to be paid for use. It is interesting to me that Odoo offers free modules, especially more than SIP.
What needs improvement?
I use Odoo on my mobile, along with its API model. Odoo provides their apps on mobile, but it is not good enough, especially for my clients. I need to build other apps using other technologies. I use Flutter for Android and iOS, but I still use Odoo for its API model. Odoo needs to improve its mobile application.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Odoo for two years. I am using Odoo Version 13. I am a user of the solution.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Until now, Odoo has been stable, but I did face trouble when I tried to upgrade to Odoo Version 14. The trouble I faced during the upgrading phase may be because of a wrong step in Odoo's setup phase. I think it's very difficult for me now to update the version of Odoo.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Almost 50 people in my company use Odoo.
How are customer service and support?
My clients have contacted Odoo's technical support.
How was the initial setup?
The solution is deployed on my server.
Odoo's setup phase is easy.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
Odoo is an open-source tool. I don't have to pay for it. We use Odoo's community version, which is stable and runs well. We don't use Odoo's pro version.
What other advice do I have?
I recommend the solution to those planning to use it.
Odoo's stability is sometimes good, and sometimes it is not good. At times Odoo is down when bombarded with many requests, but it is a good product when considering the fact that it is a free-source solution.
Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

Principal CEO at Estelio
A great solution for customer relationship management, accounting, sales and human resources modules
Pros and Cons
- "It's convenient that we have an all-in-one holistic solution."
- "There are features that cannot be opened in the community edition and from a user perspective."
What is our primary use case?
We primarily use the solution for customer relationship management, accounting, sales, human resources modules and the basic modules for a company. We deploy it on public cloud.
How has it helped my organization?
We have all our information centralized and automated based on finance, accounting, and purchase flows. It is more organized within the company so it has prevented us from struggling with information disseminated in different PCs or computer folders. Through this, we can pull the information from one application containing all the information needed for running our company.
What is most valuable?
There is no particular feature we find valuable as we find the whole solution valuable because it's an enterprise solution with several modules. It's convenient that we have an all-in-one holistic solution.
Each year they launch a new version, and the user experience is really good. The solution is complete and it has more than 60 modules. You can go to the community and explore more than 400,000 applications from any person that decides to develop the application. So it's a comprehensive community that adds value to the product.
What needs improvement?
There are some modules, like documents, that can be included in the community edition because they have the most important features in the enterprise edition. Sometimes, there are features that cannot be opened in the community edition and from a user perspective. We would like to have all the modules in the community edition and enjoy all the functionalities.
For example, when we are trying to use a document function for scanning an invoice, we need to buy credits for each invoice, which can get a little bit complicated. Hence, they can simplify the business model for credits related to certain specifications or modules.
For how long have I used the solution?
We have used the solution for three years and are currently using version 13.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
The solution is stable.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
The solution is scalable.
How was the initial setup?
It takes between eight hours and a day to deploy the solution.
What about the implementation team?
We implemented the solution in-house, and maximum of staff are required for deployment.
What other advice do I have?
I rate the solution an eight out of ten. The solution is good but can be improved by simplifying the business model for credits related to certain specifications or modules.

A browser-based user experience, the elimination of the need for system experts, and cost savings due to not requiring hardware
Pros and Cons
- "Odoo operates on a subscription-based model, ensuring access to the most up-to-date version at all times."
- "The range of choices and functionalities has space for enhancement."
What is our primary use case?
We are an accounting company that collaborates with small and medium-sized businesses, offering our expertise and consulting services to analyze their business models and information. This analysis helps in making IT changes and transformations aligned with their business plans. There are several reasons why we recommend companies adopt web-based solutions.
One of these reasons is the cost savings achieved by eliminating the need to invest in hardware infrastructure. The second reason is the avoidance of the necessity to hire system experts. Lastly, because the installations are not reliant on our hardware, the state of our infrastructure becomes inconsequential. As long as our PC is operational, regardless of the operating system it runs, and as long as we can open a browser, we can access Odoo. Similar to how CMS systems work for platforms like Webex, Odoo functions as an ERP accessible through a browser, much like Amazon and Ali Express. Odoo ensures continuous communication between accounting and the warehouse, facilitating swift and efficient communication that doesn't consume excessive time.
What is most valuable?
There are three valuable features of Odoo: a browser-based user experience, the elimination of the need for system experts, and cost savings due to not requiring hardware.
The licensing cost is also significantly lower and can be adjusted based on the number of users we possess.
Odoo operates on a subscription-based model, ensuring access to the most up-to-date version at all times.
What needs improvement?
The range of choices and functionalities has space for enhancement. For instance, Odoo currently only accommodates one barcode per item. However, in reality, if an item is being exported from China to Europe and then from Europe to the United States, that item can have multiple barcodes.
Odoo operates in a distinct manner compared to traditional ERPs. It involves utilizing modules that can be developed by third-party partners like ourselves, which can then be placed on the Odoo marketplace. Numerous functionalities within Odoo have room for enhancement, a progression I'm confident will occur due to its recent entry into the ERP market when contrasted with the classic ERPs dating back to the 1980s. This is the reason why certain features they offer are comparatively less extensive than those found in the classical ERPs.
For how long have I used the solution?
I am currently using Odoo.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Odoo is consistently available online. The only stability concern our clients might encounter is in cases where they experience local power problems and lack a backup generator to support their operations. Organizations that utilize laptops and UPS, for example, do not face any stability issues.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Odoo is highly scalable.
How was the initial setup?
I would rate the initial setup of Odoo a five out of ten. The deployment never takes less than one week. To input all of our company information into Odoo, requires extensive planning over several months, if not years, depending on the scale of the operation. Following that, there's a process of extracting data from the ERP for testing, creating training materials for the staff, conducting tests once again, and finally deploying the system. For instance, consider a small company consisting of thirteen individuals who have recently graduated from high school and are aiming to initiate a car service. In their case, they can have the system up and running in a matter of hours, similar to other ERP systems.
To commence the invoicing process, we must input all our sales items along with their names, followed by the corresponding barcodes and prices into our warehouse management system. Additionally, we need to enter both our incoming costs and profit margins.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
We pay based on the number of users and the amount of data, which results in a lower cost.
I would rate the price as a one out of ten, with ten being the most expensive.
What other advice do I have?
I would rate Odoo eight out of ten. My primary concern is the necessity to depend on third-party developers for modules, as we are uncertain about their long-term objectives and reliability.
For small and medium businesses, it is advisable to wait for Odoo to align with the features offered by classic ERPs, instead of investing millions in infrastructure.
For companies undergoing a transformation, the decision to use Odoo is not merely based on the potentially time-consuming nature of the deployment. Instead, it revolves around the consideration of long-term costs and benefits. This is because Odoo eliminates expenses related to hardware, software, and human support.
Odoo does have some questionable aspects. Although they are performing admirably in their field, they do have third-party modules. This setup is quite similar to CMS systems, where third parties contribute additional modules. Odoo doesn't develop many of these extensions themselves; instead, they depend on their partners for that.
We've never had issues requiring the use of Odoo's technical support. If we conduct thorough research and prepare well-formulated questions for the vendors in advance, we will have a clear understanding of what we're dealing with. So, sometimes, if there is a known bug, it might not have been deployed in the system yet. Alternatively, it could be a lack of functionality, which we can suggest as an improvement, or it might involve a third-party developer. In such cases, we might express a need for a particular feature or tool and then await the release of a new software version. It's not necessarily a problem with the platform itself; rather, it's often about missing features. However, it's important to note that Odoo is continuously growing and improving. They are expanding and enhancing their offerings every day.

An easy-to-use and easy-to-learn product that needs to introduce AI and ML capabilities
Pros and Cons
- "It is a scalable solution...The product's initial setup phase was easy."
- "Odoo can invest in improvements, considering areas like AI and ML, where there are shortcomings."
What is our primary use case?
I use Odoo in my company since it is easy to use and learn. Our company's employees have no complaints about the product since they received training to use it. In general, it is not a complicated software to use. Though the product was an ERP solution earlier, it is now useful as an ERP and CRM tool.
What needs improvement?
The software cannot contribute to decision-making, and it becomes an area where Odoo can invest in improvements, considering areas like AI and ML, where there are shortcomings.
There are areas in the solution that require improvement. My company moved to Odoo to use it as our main cloud application and system software. It is easy to use and easy to reach out to the configuration system. The stability of the product is an area of concern where improvements are required.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been using Odoo for four to five years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
Stability-wise, I rate the solution a seven to eight out of ten.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
It is a scalable solution.
About 15 employees in my company use the solution.
Though there are plans to increase the use of the solution in our company, I need feedback on the product from my company and the country in which I operate, because of which I am plainly using the software at the current stage.
How are customer service and support?
Though there is technical support from Odoo, I need to ask our company's account manager to grant me access to contact Odoo's support team.
How was the initial setup?
The product's initial setup phase was easy.
The solution is deployed on the cloud.
The solution can be deployed in three months maximum.
What about the implementation team?
The installation part of the solution was managed in our company with the help of a consultant.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There is a need to pay towards the licensing costs attached to the solution. It is not an expensive solution, especially in my country.
What other advice do I have?
Odoo can be useful for small websites carrying out campaigns involving ten to fifty or a maximum of a hundred people. It is a solid platform, but you should move to another solution in case the number of users crosses the limit of a hundred.
It can cover sites in terms of sales processes, projects, and the point of sale. The product also helps users manage the areas of inventory and purchase. The tool provides a proper vision for a small company.
I rate the overall solution a seven out of ten.

Pros and Cons

- "Odoo does not provide integration with other third-party apps like Shopify."

The most valuable feature of Odoo is its payroll localization. Odoo is open software, and we are successfully running its payroll coding. Employees who join the firm can use Odoo for their end-of-service benefits and leave salary. I like Odoo's localization and integration. Whenever we test one module, it's already integrated with everything else. For example, if you are considering a purchase, Odoo also automatically reflects your procurement operations and sales.
