Good payroll localization and effective customer support
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature of Odoo is its payroll localization."
  • "Odoo does not provide integration with other third-party apps like Shopify."

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Odoo is its payroll localization. Odoo is open software, and we are successfully running its payroll coding. Employees who join the firm can use Odoo for their end-of-service benefits and leave salary. I like Odoo's localization and integration. Whenever we test one module, it's already integrated with everything else. For example, if you are considering a purchase, Odoo also automatically reflects your procurement operations and sales.

What needs improvement?

Odoo does not provide integration with other third-party apps like Shopify.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Odoo a seven to eight out of ten for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate Odoo a seven to eight out of ten for scalability. Odoo is used by big companies like Etisalat, which has around ten thousand to twenty thousand employees. Since Odoo is an online product, it is also used by many SMEs in the UAE.

How are customer service and support?

We have already contacted Odoo's customer support, who gave all the replies immediately on a ticketing basis. If the issue is big, they will forward it to their backend team. We can contact their customer support through call, chat or email. So, I'm really satisfied with their customer support.

What other advice do I have?

Odoo is built according to European standards, and they have open user localization.

Overall, I rate Odoo an eight and a half out of ten.

It's a cost-effective tool for small businesses that can't afford more expensive commercial solutions
Pros and Cons
  • "Odoo is a cost-effective tool for performing core ERP functions, such as inventory management. It's also good for manufacturing use cases."
  • "Odoo's automation and workflow design tools could be better. It has some limitations compared to other ERP solutions like SAP. You should have the option to design workflows in order using BPM diagrams and tools that make it more versatile in terms of adapting to any workflow through low code."

What is our primary use case?

I am a consultant providing Odoo for my clients. I help my clients automate workflows. They have workloads that are hard-coded, so we need to go beyond the limitations and start connecting all those through APIs with an automation engine.

What is most valuable?

Odoo is a cost-effective tool for performing core ERP functions, such as inventory management. It's also good for manufacturing use cases.

What needs improvement?

Odoo's automation and workflow design tools could be better. It has some limitations compared to other ERP solutions like SAP. You should have the option to design workflows in order using BPM diagrams and tools that make it more versatile in terms of adapting to any workflow through low code.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have implemented Odoo for my clients for the last four years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I rate Odoo eight out of 10 for stability.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I rate Odoo eight out of 10 for scalability.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Odoo support six out of 10. This is another area where Odoo can improve. They lack services.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

Deploying Odoo is straightforward. You can deploy it on a private cloud or on-premises.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Odoo is an affordable ERP solution for small and medium-sized businesses that can't afford more expensive commercial products.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Odoo eight out of 10. It's an excellent platform that offers a great balance of cost and benefit.  I recommend finding a reputable partner to implement Odoo. If you try to skimp on consultants, they may perform a faulty implementation that requires you to start from scratch. This happened with many of our clients before they came to us. It will end up costing you more in the end.

Good manufacturing features and CRM
Pros and Cons
  • "We find manufacturing and stock quite useful, as well as the CRM to be the most valuable features."
  • "The performance can be slightly improved for the customization interface."

What is our primary use case?

We are using it for stock, manufacturing, sales, and CRM.

What is most valuable?

We find manufacturing and stock quite useful, as well as the CRM to be the most valuable features.

What needs improvement?

So some of the things we are struggling with are privacy and dividing rules, data access between people, the hierarchy of people, and things like that.

Moreover, the performance can be slightly improved for the customization interface.

For how long have I used the solution?

We just migrated one year back. We started using it in the last six months. Odoo is very big, and we are using only a small subset of that.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It's stable for our usage because our usage is not too high.

I would rate it nine out of ten. Only once have we seen some issues in the last six months.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Our usage is pretty simple, so we don't need that kind of scalability. However, I know that big companies like Toyota use it, so I think it should be scalable.

There are around 15 right now because we are piloting it. I would rate the scalability a seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

There is some third party helping us with some support.

How was the initial setup?

It was not hard. The deployment process took about three months. We had discussions about what to use and how to use it, and there was some alignment that needed to be done. Finally, we had to get our data into it and begin using it, which took that much time.

What other advice do I have?

We are happy with the solution. I would rate it an eight out of ten. There are still some things like data room privacy, access, and hierarchy that are taking time.

  • "The most valuable feature of Odoo is the integration it provides and the many modules available."
  • "The price of the solution could be reduced to improve the overall offering."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Odoo for our business ERP. We use many modules, such as HR, time tracking, POS, Sales, and admin.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature of Odoo is the integration it provides and the many modules available.

What needs improvement?

The price of the solution could be reduced to improve the overall offering.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Odoo for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

We have approximately 12 people using the solution in my organization. We might use the solution in the future depending on the use cases.

Odoo is scalable.

How are customer service and support?

The online community that is available sometimes does not have the answer to our issue. Additionally, we have a technical person that gives us assistance.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup of Odoo is easy. The full deployment took approximately two months.

What about the implementation team?

We did the deployment of the solution with one engineer that was in-house. Additionally, we used a technical person to assist us with the process.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

The price of the solution depends on the use case. However, it can be expensive and we are paying annually.

What other advice do I have?

I would recommend this solution to others.

I rate Odoo an eight out of ten.

An easy to use solution for small companies, but it cannot be scaled easily for large companies
Pros and Cons
  • "The solution is easy to use."
  • "The authorization management needs to be improved."

What is our primary use case?

We deploy it for CRM projects. We use it for some project management and share purchasing.

What is most valuable?

The solution is easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Odoo cannot be scaled beyond the scope. If you want to go deeply, you have to be confident enough to do some development on it, and it will take much more time to deliver the project.

The authorization management needs to be improved.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using this solution for about 10 years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

I would rate the stability as an eight out of ten.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It's scalable within the scope of the solution. There are about 40 users of this solution in my organization.

How was the initial setup?

It took between one to three months to deploy the solution.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

We use it as a community solution, and develop the rest on our side.

What other advice do I have?

I recommend Odoo for small or medium companies. I rate it as an eight out of ten for small or medium companies, but I would drop it to a four or five for big companies.

It's a stable, user-friendly solution for managing our customers' appliances
Pros and Cons
  • "Odoo is user-friendly. It's the first solution we tried, so we find it easy to use."
  • "Odoo lacks a complete dashboard, and the reports are basic. The reporting could be improved by adding some graphics."

What is our primary use case?

We use Odoo's CRM module to manage all our customers' appliances and the business that we are working on. Previously, we used the HR module. Only the 12 members of the sales team use Odoo.

What is most valuable?

Odoo is user-friendly. It's the first solution we tried, so we find it easy to use.

What needs improvement?

Odoo lacks a complete dashboard, and the reports are basic. The reporting could be improved by adding some graphics.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Odoo for about two or three years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Odoo is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

I believe Odoo is scalable. We don't use all of the modules.

How are customer service and support?

I rate Odoo support seven out of 10. We didn't have local support in the beginning, but I saw an ad recently seeking partners here in Argentina, so maybe they have local support now. We don't need tech support often, but I believe their support is based in Finland, so the response time is delayed because of the time difference.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

Setting up Odoo is easy. Though I didn't do it, my team told me that it was straightforward. It requires two IT people to maintain.

What other advice do I have?

I rate Odoo seven out of 10. Compared to Salesforce, it's maybe a four or five, but it's okay for our purposes. If you plan to implement Odoo, you should take the time to learn the features. For example, we needed more time to set up the reporting module.

A low-cost open-source solution that has been beneficial in registering our business contacts
Pros and Cons
  • "It allows us to organize and improve portfolio management."
  • "The user interface is not the best."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case for this solution is registering business contacts.

What is most valuable?

It allows us to organize and improve portfolio management.

For how long have I used the solution?

We have been using this solution for approximately two years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

The solution is stable.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

The solution is scalable. We currently have eight users active with this solution in my organization, and we increase the usage of this solution depending on business needs.

How are customer service and support?

Odoo has two versions, an enterprise solution and an open-source solution. Now we use the community version, which is open source, and they have technical support. But for the enterprise version, they provide only technical support.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I am unsure of the exact licensing cost, but we use the open-source version.

What other advice do I have?

I rate this solution eight out of ten. The solution is good, but the user interface is not the best. Nevertheless, I recommend this solution because it's low-cost and open-source. It costs less than Microsoft Dynamics, CH, Oracle, and others so I can recommend it. In addition, it's very robust, and many companies and enterprises use it.
