A feature-rich solution with strong community support
Pros and Cons
  • "The OCR feature is very handy to extract structured and semi-structured data from documents."
  • "Extending the UiPath studio in terms of UI and functionality would improve this solution."

What is our primary use case?

We use this solution for automating manufacturing processes from invoice processing to accounts payables. All of these use cases are solved using UiPath. For insurance sectors, reconciliation is another process that is automated using UiPath. I have been using UiPath at various enterprise levels.

How has it helped my organization?

We provide professional services around RPA and UiPath, and we have certified developers in-house. I have helped many organizations to set up their Center Of Excellence in a hybrid model, wherein the stakeholders and developers are shared in-house and with our company.

What is most valuable?

UiPath is rich in features. The OCR feature is very handy to extract structured and semi-structured data from documents. A rich set of activities and an open platform is pretty helpful in creating solutions out of the box. The community forum is quite helpful in solving issues when they appear.

What needs improvement?

I would want UiPath to build as many activities as possible. The new machine learning activities in the UiPath AI fabric is something I am looking up to. There are many focused sets of activities and the ability to build custom activities is a great feature and can be made richer.

Extending the UiPath studio in terms of UI and functionality would improve this solution. This relates to adding hooks to the workflow/activity execution and extending the UiPath Studio UI with more functionality like a handy tool for activities with icons etc.

The orchestrator also can have set of APIs to work with.

For how long have I used the solution?

One year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We did not use another solution prior to this one.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

This solution has a very competitive and flexible pricing scheme that depends on the process complexity.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I evaluated AutomationEdge and Thoughtonomy.

  • "I would like to see all a full-featured version for mobile devices."

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is to develop automation projects, like automating Excel activities for repetitive tasks and operations on files. We also automate operations on Citrix. With UiPath we can easily manage all of the projects in a single page (i.e. in orchestrator).

How has it helped my organization?

We have used this product to implement automation for several things, including:

  • UI automation that updates a project's status based on conditions
  • Gathering data from web sites
  • Excel functions related to HR operations
  • File checks, to determine the validity
  • Python and .NET scripts to connect to different databases

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features are Activities, Orchestrator, and UiPath Go!

The UiPath Orchestrator is one source to easily manage all bots.

What needs improvement?

I would like to see all a full-featured version for mobile devices.

In some Activities, there are inconsistencies between versions where the most recent does not have support for throwing the same kinds of errors.

For how long have I used the solution?

One year.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

How are customer service and technical support?

The support from the community, as well as from UiPath themselves, is awesome. Also, users have the advantage of training videos and material, including free certifications.

We can schedule our robots and we can handle multiple robots from a single orchestrator

What is our primary use case?

Our primary use case is to create a proof of concept using UiPath. Here we automated the business process, and it's a repetitive task. So we used UiPath and automated our internal project, and we also automated the client process as well. We automated SAP application, and we also automated mainframes. UiPath also has the Orchestrator which very flexible.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath is a very unique tool compared to the remaining tools in RPA. UiPath has recording capabilities, and we can automate many difficult applications like mainframes and SAP application. Using UiPath, we automated our internal repetitive process which eliminates the human errors and duplicates. UiPath robot can work 24/7. It also helps us to decrease the time to complete a process from start to end.

What is most valuable?

All the features are very helpful and valuable in UiPath, mainly UiPath Orchestrator which is very valuable because we can schedule our robots and we can handle multiple robots from a single orchestrator, and we can also maintain our credentials in Orchestrator.

What needs improvement?

In UiPath, they already give so many services, and they provide computer vision activity to work with Citrix environment. If they could improve those computer vision activities, that would help a lot for everyone who wants to automate a Citrix environment.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

The robot manages to work 24/7 and with a near-zero error rate

What is our primary use case?

I use UiPath in my company to migrate data between systems of a large telephone company where I use various functions available in UiPath, as well as OCR, PDF integration, email integration, SAP integration.

How has it helped my organization?

The return is sensational. We have been able to optimize process time and reduce costs. The robot manages to work 24/7 and with a near-zero error rate.

What is most valuable?

Integration with OCR, Excel, PDF, SAP, Outlook, since they are primary functions in the day-to-day operations of a company working with PDF, Excel.

What needs improvement?

Better documentation of the tool, since some frameworks adopted by the community of the tool is still very nebulous to understand. ReFramework, the main framework adopted by UiPath for better use of the tool is poor explained in Academy Advanced Course.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

I find it's easy to scrape data

What is our primary use case?

On using UiPath, once, we had a problem while reading data from the browser that was on a virtual machine as it was not providing the accurate text using Google OCR, as the background was changing for the web page. So we found an alternative solution to get the process working.

As a benefit, it is really beneficial as it provides vast support and every feature is there in the tool. Also, the recording feature really helps while developing the process. One more feature is that in the variable tab, if the name of the variable is changed, then it will be reflected in the whole process.

How has it helped my organization?

The business value that you can create with it is immense. And you don't need IT for it!

  • Cost management
  • Creating internal/operational efficiencies
  • Driving revenue growth
  • Enhancing decision making
  • Improving business process outcomes
  • Improving customer relations/service
  • Reducing time to market.

What is most valuable?

Currently, I am working on (resume shortlisting bot) benefits I can explain according to developers' point of view. I find it's easy to scrape data. I worked on few projects on an older version of Studio, still, when opening it in a newer version, I don't have to make much effort.

What needs improvement?

Nothing as such, but one thing that annoys me the most during development is, we need to capture images for clicking, and for that, we need to maintain the resolution of that image. UiPath should be smart enough to sync that whole thing up.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

Free training courses eases interested developers into adopting the technology

What is our primary use case?

  • Manual processing of invoices
  • Outlook lookups for invoices
  • Automatic online checks of Oracle, Hyperion, and SAP platform.

How has it helped my organization?

We provide a fast and solid robotic process automation solution to our customers. Robots are easy to understand and deploy. We also perform KT for customers IT department.

What is most valuable?

UiPath is not an open-source project, but it supports private enhancements and plugins. These allow the community to grow and encouraged people to contribute, with best practices. In my experience, the technologies that are supported by an active community, are those ones destined to succeed. This is clearly a great feature that the UiPath Studio platform has. Also, providing free training courses eases interested developers into adopting the technology.

Having an online Orchestrator instance for training purposes is great also.

What needs improvement?

I think that a great, nice, must-have feature should be to allow other languages to invoke code blocks beside for VB.NET. I'm confident that this feature can empower more developers to perform tasks and activities that other tools do not support.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

Supports various interfaces, and reduces human error, but automating is not as easy as it seems
Pros and Cons
  • "UiPath's support for various types of interfaces is the most valuable feature as it aids in automating the end-user systems we want to streamline."
  • "I would like to have the ability to make changes at different stages of the development process without having to start from the beginning each time."

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath for automation.

As a consultant, we have been involved in many client projects and deployed UiPath using a hybrid model.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath enables us to implement end-to-end automation.

UiPath's User Community is good.

UiPath helped us reduce our on-premises footprint.

UiPath helped us reduce human error.

What is most valuable?

UiPath's support for various types of interfaces is the most valuable feature as it aids in automating the end-user systems we want to streamline.

What needs improvement?

I would like to have the ability to make changes at different stages of the development process without having to start from the beginning each time.

Automating with UiPath is not as easy as it appears in the advertisements.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for seven years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

UiPath is stable, but not 100 percent reliable. I would rate its stability an eight out of ten. If we need to restart the project, open the file again, or close down the program and open something else, UiPath does not behave consistently every time.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

UiPath is highly scalable.

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup is straightforward. The deployment takes around one month.

What other advice do I have?

I give UiPath a seven out of ten.

Maintenance is required. We need to make changes to the code due to updates in the systems on which the automation is running. There are updates in the IT environments, such as operating systems, and also in the UI part. The newer features in UiPath bring new updates, and its components necessitate modifications to the code.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud
