The computer vision package uses a powerful OCR engine to recognize more accurately the elements in the remote screen

What is our primary use case?

Development of bots to increase the posting of payments in a billing software for clients. This software is completely controlled via remote desktop, so there are sometimes that the speed of the bots is affected. We also review medical documents and save the records in this software. Currently, we are implementing the bots to check some docs and save them in batches for better control of the files.

How has it helped my organization?

Now we can process more payments in a short time, and use our human agents to take care of other tasks. Also, we handle better the exceptions that the billing software throws and can restart the job, giving some extra rules or parameters. We are still evaluating in which other processes we can run the bots for automating. We have got a server to increase the number of bots and make even more number of tasks. So far we configure bots for the jobs, more volume of files and information can be taken care of.

What is most valuable?

For our specific case, as we work with virtual and remote desktops, we find quite useful the new features that UiPath brings to work with such environments. The most recent is the computer vision package that uses a powerful OCR engine to recognize more accurately the elements in the remote screen and get the values we need or consider appropriated. Also, in general, this software is so easy to use and learn. How to use it takes no more than a full four weeks during the official training. The interface is so friendly, and the workspace is customizable.

What needs improvement?

Even though the new features of OCR recognition have improved, they still are incomplete and do not recognize some elements. Fortunately, they included an error report system to notify these issues. Also, UiPath has to develop a better way to show us the errors and where are they located in our project files. Finally, it would be great if they add new and powerful programming languages like C# or C++, to have more options at the development time.

Easy installation, maintenance, and competitive cost

What is our primary use case?

Reformulate simple processes such as API access and virtual environments, e-mail access, spreadsheet completion and systems.

How has it helped my organization?

  • Positive impact on ROI
  • Process control and integrity of information
  • Reduction of expenses and reduction of procedural errors.

What is most valuable?

  • Easy installation, maintenance, and competitive cost
  • Active community, forum, and academy with resources for individual user development.

What needs improvement?

- Arguing between scopes and activities is still confusing.

The mode of argument transfer of a scope (or activity) is done by a screen where a variable is indicated as output to which the subsequent activity (or scope) is indicated as input. In large projects, these arguments need to be identified in an easy, fast and unquestionable way. Assigns a variable value to then assigns that variable to the output argument, and then assigns an argument as input to another activity. I think this transfer should be done in the panel of variables and not in the properties of the activity

REFramework is good, but still very rigid.

REframework is a good template but besides being very generic it is also rigid with respect to error handling. Basically follows the default entry> processing> output which does not encompass part of the applications in RPA, we must remember that the tool is for scripting and falling into the programming vices is a mistake. Overall it is a good way to start processes but during development it will be completely changed

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We used a free application with few features.

What was our ROI?

A complete and agile solution for companies of any size.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Easy installation and maintenance with lower costs than practiced in the market.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I studied all three major RPA markets, "Automation Anywhere" and "Blue Prism".

I find it's easy to scrape data

What is our primary use case?

On using UiPath, once, we had a problem while reading data from the browser that was on a virtual machine as it was not providing the accurate text using Google OCR, as the background was changing for the web page. So we found an alternative solution to get the process working.

As a benefit, it is really beneficial as it provides vast support and every feature is there in the tool. Also, the recording feature really helps while developing the process. One more feature is that in the variable tab, if the name of the variable is changed, then it will be reflected in the whole process.

How has it helped my organization?

The business value that you can create with it is immense. And you don't need IT for it!

  • Cost management
  • Creating internal/operational efficiencies
  • Driving revenue growth
  • Enhancing decision making
  • Improving business process outcomes
  • Improving customer relations/service
  • Reducing time to market.

What is most valuable?

Currently, I am working on (resume shortlisting bot) benefits I can explain according to developers' point of view. I find it's easy to scrape data. I worked on few projects on an older version of Studio, still, when opening it in a newer version, I don't have to make much effort.

What needs improvement?

Nothing as such, but one thing that annoys me the most during development is, we need to capture images for clicking, and for that, we need to maintain the resolution of that image. UiPath should be smart enough to sync that whole thing up.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

Invoking VB.NET/C# code is one of the major features over other RPA tools

What is our primary use case?

I have been working as a UiPath RPA developer for two years and three months. Using UiPath, I have provided more than 20 solutions over six different projects. UiPath was one of the leading RPA tools and it will be easier to develop when compared to other RPA tools.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has done a huge impact for our customers by replacing the linear jobs with robots. Tasks done by robots were fast and highly efficient.

What is most valuable?

Invoking VB.NET/C# code is one of the major features over other RPA tools. And recently, UiPath has implemented Citrix native automation for virtual machine automation which is an exceptionally great feature.

What needs improvement?

So far, UiPath has been good in every area. I would like to get more features in ML-related activities. ML will be the future for processing free text. Like for example , while processing free text from the customer comments, using uipath we cant extract the required data from the free text. Incase if you got ML related activities then it will be easier to provide the solution using UiPath

Web scrapping for us is the best tool so far

What is our primary use case?

We use it for price quotes on the internet, looking for the best cost benefits for our customers after researching our thefts, creating a table and sending the data by email to the customer.

How has it helped my organization?

With the creation of the project mentioned above, we were able to reduce the cost of our client to acquire materials, besides the agility of being able to do everything very fast.

What is most valuable?

Web scrapping for us is the best tool so far, as well as data scraping. We have obtained many good results, and in the near future with these databases, we have the intention to move towards some possible interaction with big data.

What needs improvement?

Unfortunately, the work with PDFs that contain an image still has very bad recognition and needs to be studied for a way to improve this function which is very important for anyone who works with files of that format.

The integrations with Windows and Google OCR, PDF, Excel, Outlook and SAP are the most valuable features

What is our primary use case?

We use UiPath internally to automate the repetitive processes of our company. We use the tool for the generation of reports and automatic sending of emails, as well as automation of registrations and the likes.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has made it possible to reduce the time spent on these repetitive tasks because robots can keep working indefinitely, with a very low error rate and a very low maintenance cost compared to the financial return.

What is most valuable?

Certainly, the integrations with Windows and Google OCR, PDF, Excel, Outlook and SAP are the most valuable within our area of performance.

What needs improvement?

I believe that a better explanation of ReFramework and license costs would be something to rethink.

Pictorial workflow representation is in itself a standout feature

What is our primary use case?

UiPath is used as an RPA platform to automate the engineering-based repetitive and rule-based tasks in my company. UiPath has proved itself to be a very user-friendly and easy-to-adapt kind of software which does not require any core knowledge or coding background to start with.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath has helped us improve our efficiency, and the quality of our deliverables has increased by many folds. It has also helped us to set up an automation environment which helps us in speedy and accurate delivery well before the deadline.

What is most valuable?

Pictorial workflow representation is in itself a standout feature of UiPath. Features like screen scraping, data scrapping, Citrix related automation features, mail sending activities, inbuilt recovery mechanism (REF) are really useful.

What needs improvement?

The features of Citrix related activities could be greatly improvised. The version compatibility or stability issues could be fixed in the coming releases.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

If you are looking to automate VDIs, then this solution delivers you a powerful tool to do so

What is our primary use case?

Automation of high volume, repetitive processes. Both desktop and VDI/Citrix environments. We are going to implement it in the WFM team to reduce their workload and let them concentrate on more complex tasks.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath is a great tool to quickly demonstrate the benefits of automation. It is fast to learn and implement. Therefore, it is easy to gain quick wins in time savings and reduction of human error rates.

What is most valuable?

If you are looking to automate VDIs, then UiPath delivers you a powerful tool to do so. Even better is that they are constantly making progress in that field and have some features coming up in the future that no other solution can deliver.

Also, UiPath gives you free access to their online learning academy which is really great if you are new to RPA and want to have a quick start in that field.

What needs improvement?

There should be some more activities that can replace others where coding is required. You can build a solution without coding knowledge, but I would recommend at least some prior knowledge of the .NET Framework.

For how long have I used the solution?

Trial/evaluations only.
