AI-based computer vision solves an important problem of capturing information from VDIs and images

What is our primary use case?

It was used for the automation of web-based applications in the banking sector. The challenge was to read information in image-based forms.

How has it helped my organization?

We built a use case out of the free community edition. There was a lot of support available from the community. Once we got the full-scale implementation, we were able to purchase a license.

What is most valuable?

AI-based computer vision solves an important problem of capturing information from VDIs and images.

What needs improvement?

There is a lot of scope to integrate more AI-based features that will help improve the reading of unstructured data.

The learning suite of the academy and the certification process itself was invaluable

What is our primary use case?

Performing automation on both client and company infrastructure, and improving existing service workflows.

How has it helped my organization?

Specific to our organization, implementing a dedicated service to automate payment processing and client billing allowed us to justify overhauling the existing person-driven process, and improve on that by eliminating areas for human errors.

What is most valuable?

The learning suite of UiPath Academy and the certification process itself was invaluable in actually teaching our team to use the tool over the course of several weeks, and it got rid of a series of potential miscommunications by ensuring technical proficiency across the developer and management levels.

What needs improvement?

Lack of macOS support this far into the project lifecycle is distressing. While boot camp and alternatives exist, that's another hurdle to cross for client implementation. Additionally, it's hard to drive an open source community and not have the tools to connect with GitHub natively, while promoting paid corporate alternatives like TFS.

The online academy was very helpful

What is our primary use case?

Production staff has to enter data manually in several apps which cannot be integrated via API. UiPath allowed us to automate most of the job, saving a lot of time in the process, which allowed us to move most of the team to more skilled tasks.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath made the production workflow more efficient, reliable and profitable. The licencing price and the time spent setting it up was paid for after a month.

What is most valuable?

  • It's very easy to learn and get started.
  • Developers got it right away.
  • All apps (desktop and web) were integrated without any issue.
  • The online academy was very helpful.

What needs improvement?

Debugging has some room for improvement, but other than that everything seems to be just amazing. UiPath is clearly headed in the right direction.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.

Enables end-to-end automation without any human intervention

What is our primary use case?

I have done a POC in inventory management. We get an excel sheet with details of users, orders, and equipment. Using UiPath, I have done end-to-end automation without any human intervention.

How has it helped my organization?

UiPath improved our return on investments faster compared to before when we didn't use this tool. Human resources can be reduced in client work and increased at UI development.

What is most valuable?

  • Drag and drop
  • Flowchart and sequence used to build activities
  • Debugging
  • When we build the bot, we can easily find what we have done at any point in time.

What needs improvement?

Some areas where this product can be fully implemented is finance, invoice generation, and the work which has repeated tasks.

Good interface with a modern appearance that is easy to get started with
Pros and Cons
  • "The most valuable feature is the UiPath Studio, the graphical coding software, which has high usability and modern appearance."
  • "The attended bot functionality is in need of improvement."

What is our primary use case?

I am responsible for developing and improving RPA-software bots in my organisation. The processes we work on improving are in the field of finance. We started using UiPath and RPA as a technology about two years ago and are still improving and growing.

How has it helped my organization?

It is implemented within a larger strategy of optimizing processes in our organisation. The tasks which have been identified and thereafter automated with UiPath are now more efficient, achieving savings in personnel and improving quality in some fields.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature is the UiPath Studio, the graphical coding software, which has high usability and modern appearance. The number of functions is very good and is still being improved upon. These features allow you to fastly implement automation projects. Furthermore, it is quite easy getting started.

What needs improvement?

The attended bot functionality is in need of improvement. The use cases are rare and the licences are quite expensive (in relation to the use possibilities we see) for attended bots - Therefore we are currentlying neither using or planning to use them.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using UiPath for nine months.

What other advice do I have?

I have to say that I am overall very happy with the software and do see little need to give them advice. They have implemented a lot of new things over the past months.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

On-premises

Most of the automation is done with a simple click and select. The advantage is that it requires less coding.

What is our primary use case?

I am undergoing UiPath advanced certification. I am performing a use case of a bank where it has to send frequent reminders to its clients who took loans like home loan, personal loan, etc., to pay EMI every month on time. To improve the process for efficiency as well as accuracy, I used UiPath automation to interact with their internal applications and send reminders in a timely manner with no errors.

How has it helped my organization?

It definitely helped in reducing the human force for repetitive tasks. Things that I like most in UiPath is the way we can automate the repetitive and redundant tasks. The new feature like AI computer vision is top notch in this decade where AI and ML are like hot cakes to improve one's technical skills.

What is most valuable?

Most of the automation is done with a simple click and select items, directly on the automated system. The advantage in UiPath is that it requires less coding and has an easy learning curve.
As compared to Selenium, it's very fast and easy to implement.

What needs improvement?

When you update to a new version, sometimes opening previous versions solutions become difficult. The packages between versions become incompatible, and when you install a package from another version, the previous one is not removed, causing a startup error. I need a proper guide for versions and compatibility.

For how long have I used the solution?

Less than one year.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

No.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Automation Anywhere.

I like the partnership with state-of-the-art applications such as ABBYY or Microsoft OCR

What is our primary use case?

Fast-tracking the interfacing between an in-house planning application and an international partner's planning application.

Using RPA to do check and balances on invoices, and consequently uploading this data to a tax engine and extracting VAT, European sales listing and Intrastat reports. Finally, these reports are uploaded to the dedicated web portals.

Extracting handover data of wagon from a data lake and entering it into the follow-up application, since there is no direct integration yet.

How has it helped my organization?

Via UiPath, we were able to save a workload equivalent of multiple FTEs, which can now be directed at other more important tasks.

What is most valuable?

  • The community edition
  • The partnership with state-of-the-art applications such as ABBYY or Microsoft OCR.

What needs improvement?

  • When automating complex projects, the application becomes sluggish due to the interfacing load.
  • Licensing model is too complicated and has a lot of room for improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

One to three years.
