Veeam Backup & Replication is useful for disaster recovery. Apart from that, it happens now and again that you make a mistake somewhere, and you have to go back to a previous state of a machine.
I work with both on-premise and a mixed environment.

One of the most valuable features is the incremental backup. It is, of course, perfect because you have a lot of restore points, but you don't need all the space. The stability is also perfect.
The only improvement I could think of is it could be cheaper—cheaper is always good. Sometimes the product is just finished. Cheaper is always nice for the customer, but the company needs to benefit so that they can keep maintaining the product. New Windows versions, etc., always take some work. At the moment, I wouldn't switch to another solution because of the money.
I have been using this solution for about four years now.
The stability is perfect.
I've never had a problem with scalability. I've got very big environments, but the biggest problem with Backup could be that you need a lot of space and you don't have that with Veeam.
We have contacted technical support a few times and they reacted fine.
We switched to Veeam a long time ago because it just works better. We get more consistent backups of our backup software. The previous backups gave us problems and Veeam just doesn't—it just works.
The initial setup is really easy. I don't remember the timeframe because it was too long ago, but with a new product, you always have to do a bit of reading. If I were to implement Veeam in a new network, I would guess I'd be done in the morning, no more than that.
There are two or three people in our organization using this solution. As far as a technical team, you need to be aware of the systems youʻre backing up. If you're backing up SQL service or exchange service, then you need to know about your SQL server, but basic Windows knowledge and knowledge of the applications youʻre backing up are all you need to know.
With this one, we had one side set up by an integrator and the other, I did myself. If you are going to implement it, do a bit of reading yourself or let somebody who knows what they're doing do it for you, or do it together.
I rate Veeam Backup & Replication a nine and a half out of ten. I absolutely recommend Veeam Backup & Replication. I have been looking at a competitor lately and they seem to do the same thing as the vendors, however they were a lot cheaper, but we just couldn't get it to work.
Veeam doesn't have the reporting part quite right. Its data visualization isn't as slick as other solutions like Veritas. For example, in Veritas, you can see a calendar that shows you which days are backed up. Veeam lacks features like that.
I've only been using Veeam for a couple of months.
I'm a new client, we only use Veeam on three servers, so I'm not sure how scalable it is, but Veeam claims it's scalable. It's usually deployed in medium-sized enterprises.
Veeam's installation was hectic. It was tough in the beginning, and the installation process took us a lot longer than we expected. It requires several other applications and has lots of dependencies.
Veeam is in the same price range as Veritas and similar solutions in that segment.
I rate Veeam eight out of 10. Once you get it set up, everything is smooth, and the recovery is excellent.
We use Veeam Backup Replication for small businesses with on average 100 virtual machines.
The most valuable features I have found to be Instant Recovery, quick restore and rollback, and asynchronous copy. It is a complete solution for our needs.
I have been using Veeam Backup Replication for approximately eight years.
The stability is good.
Veeam Backup Replication is scalable. We adapt with many hardware and storage vendors, with no problems at all.
The technical support is responsive and every time I have contacted them I received a quick and definitive solution to many problems.
We to the implementation of the solution.
The licensing is the worst part of Veeam Backup Replication because for the more complex situations and it's quite difficult and complex. In particular, when mixing different requirements the licensing model is complex. For example, mixing a virtual machine backup and a file server backup in the same installation can be somewhat difficult and is expensive.
I rate Veeam Backup Replication a ten out of ten.
The primary use case of this product is for disaster recovery and ransomware protection. It's also used for testing development.
I like this solution for its simplicity and stability.
The solution could be improved with easier immutability.
I've been consulting on this solution for eight months.
The initial setup is fairly straightforward. Depending on how the system is deployed, the implementation can take anywhere from one to six hours. We currently have five customers who have deployed Veeam Backup & Replication. We have two engineers who deploy this product.
I recommend this solution and rate it eight out of 10.
VM backup and ease of use are the most valuable features.
It helps the discovery of the new VM. It allows me to use the same tools when we decided to move from VMware to Hyper-V.
The physical system support needs improvement. I know that the latest version has this feature, but it was too late as I am already using it for three years. For the time being, I have used another backup software (EMC NetWorker) and they seem to catch up a lot during the past few years.
I have used this solution for three years.
Stability is good so far; hopefully, we will not have any problems.
If one day the EMC NetWorker will offer same features, then I will have to switch as they offer more than what I want.
The setup looks simple, you set it up once and forget .
If they can give more add-ons (such as training) for the pricing.
We looked at EMC NetWorker and Veritas NetBackup.
Keep it up.
The usability in general, support and knowledge documentation. I also find the training, and webinars useful. Apart from this, it also has specific features that are useful such as easy restore functionalities, instant file-level recovery, integration with multiple storage vendors, and explorer for Exchange amongst others. Also, its replication is very simple and reliable, as well as the synthetic full backup.
Lastly, Veeam Cloud Connect is another valuable feature. This allows you to backup and restore securely to and from the cloud. All you need to do is choose your cloud provider and it integrates into your systems.
It's affordability, ease of use, and reliability has allowed us to save both man-hours and money.
It needs to be able to integrate with more storage vendors, especially IBM and Dell.
I've been using it for almost four years.
We have had no issues with the deployment.
There have been no performance issues.
It's been able to scale for our needs.
7 to 8/10
Very straightforward but knowledge is a must, especially if you have complex scenarios and if you want correct responses and performance.
In-house implementation, we have a lot of skilled personel. Knowledge about the product and about backup theory in general is a must.
Try it! You can test it before buy it, almost without effort and you probably will forget a lot of other vendor solutions.
Its backup capabilities and also day to day replication.
We wanted to replicate a very old database which is running on VM. We were looking for solution long time and finally using this product we are able to do it.
I think it's fantastic, so none.
2 years.
No issues with deployment.
No issues with stability.
No issues with scalability.
5 out of 5.
Technical Support:5 out of 5.
No, this was our first.
Very straightforward.
In-house.
Yes, we evaluated SRM.
Like I previously mentioned, we are using a very old database and even that database company didn't provide support. I tried to replicate it over WAN, and now by using Veeam, it works great. It was running on my regional site which had standalone VM with local storage and that's why Veeam worked fine compare to SRM.
I really like the reporting. You can build your own reports and schedule to send them any time. I also like the fact that alerts are resolved automatically if there is no longer an issue.
From a storage prospective we were getting alerts when the Hyper V LUNS reached the threshold and we were able to fix the space issue before something worse happened.
No more surprises about our Hyper-V environment, storage.
Better description of the problems as the alerts are missing good descriptions. Sometimes you need to spend extra time to Google the error because the information from the alerts is not clear enough.
I've used it for two years.
Deployment is very simple, the installation wizard is very easy and then it is just simply adding whatever you want to monitor.
I don't have any stability issues.
I need to give them 10/10. All the cases are resolved in the time they give.
We used PRTG but we were getting a lot of false positives.
If you are using a virtualized environment, there is nothing better than Veeam Backup and Veeam One.
If you deploy Veeam Backup and Veeam One, you will sleep much better.
I like VMTurbo Ops, right now I am using SCOM to monitor our infrastructure.
