It provides detailed monitoring and alerting. I'd like to see Xen- and KVM-based virtualization monitoring improved

- Detailed monitoring and alerting (I loved the advanced monitoring and reporting at my previous organization)
How has it helped my organization?
Previously, the infrastructure was configured and backed up at the application level and configuration changes were not replicated. With replication at the infrastructure level now, we don't have to worry about configuration changes.
What needs improvement?
- Monitoring of Xen- and KVM-based virtualization

I have used it for approximately over one year.

I have not encountered any stability issues.

I have not scaled it until now.

It’s a great tool and management should consider spending money for it, as it eases a lot of complexities.
I have been using the free version but would definitely opt for the paid version if management approves it.

Before choosing this product, I did not evaluate other options.

It’s a simple and reliable solution, especially as I have experience with VMware products (ESXi).

We've reduced the time it takes to manage backups, which can be done without offsite infrastructure. Like with all technologies, however, there's the constant need for updates, patches, replacements.
Valuable Features:
- With Veeam Cloud Connect and Azure Storage you can get your backups offsite.
- With it, you don't have the complexity of managing an offsite infrastructure.
- It may even help to reduce your DRC strategy costs.
Improvements to My Organization:
For us, it's a simple solution for our complex environment. It has helped us reduce the time to manage backups.
Room for Improvement:
Everyday technology needs updates, patches, replacements. The challenge for us is to have resources up to date so that our skills and technical knowledge are up-to-date. Such is the case with all products, so it is as well with Veeam Backup.

Customer Service:
No issues.
Technical Support:Excellent, their support is fast and efficient.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
Backup Exec, I was looking for something designed for Virtual Machines.
How was the initial setup?
In VMWare it's really fast. For Hyper V it took some tooling around.
What about the implementation team?
In-House.
What was our ROI?
I didn't measure it but it saves me tons of time and no data loss so it has likely paid for itself many times over.

The solution can be used to backup databases. For example, from Windows, Linux, and Oracle. It is sometimes used by government organizations for email backup.

I have found the solution to be stable.

How are customer service and technical support?
The technical support has not been good in my experience. They need to have faster and more reliable support for this solution.
How was the initial setup?
The installation was straightforward for me since I have done it before. It might not be for first time users. The time for the installation all depends on the environment.
What about the implementation team?
We have one technician for the maintenance and deployment.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
There is a license required for this solution and the price is a bit expensive but it depends on the environment that you have on how much it will cost.
What other advice do I have?
I rate Veeam Backup Replication a seven out of ten.

It offers granular restore points for SharePoint. I'm looking for it to support Unix/Linux platforms.
Valuable Features:
- Simple VM backup & restore management console
- Works with both industry standard hypervisors, VMware & Hyper-V
- Fast and easy implementation
- Granular restore points for SharePoint
Improvements to My Organization:
It provides simple DR operation & management for our heterogeneous virtualisation platform.
Room for Improvement:
Besides Wintel environments, it would be good to have DR/HA for Unix/Linux platforms.

I have been using it for 1½ years.
Deployment Issues:
We have not had any issues with deployment, stability, or scalability.

Customer service is awesome.

Initial setup was straightforward because it only provides DR.

We evaluated Availl software, because of their Wide Area File System technology.
